The Quiet Risk Inside AI-Enabled Care: Why “Feeling Understood” Is Not the Same as Practicing Well
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit curvyhustle.substack.comThese Afterglow Podcasts are intended to serve as micro learning bonuses. Today's Lesson: How Should Small Health BE Integrating BIG Tech? There is a very specific advantage allied healthcare providers like Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Elder care and Child Care givers, Midwifery groups, Doulas, Sleep Trainers, Health Coaches, Mental Health Therapists and even Yoga Therapists, who can operate in direct access have right now that the larger medical system is still slow to recognize:* We are not waiting for permission to integrate AI.* You are already using it to make documenting lighter* We see it can design our prior created programs more efficiently.* We want it to stretch limited time into something that still feels human without displacing humans in the evaluation and supervision of optimal care, even if takes over plan execution. But there is a craft and expert artistry that can not be removed from the process of healing, even if capitalism and the industrial mindset, led by the American US, has done our best to manufacture outcomes. The ethics of healing and that hippocratic oath could admit that despite all the medical care tech, the health tech and the biometrics, we have been horrible at manufacturing new actual health inside the metrics of economic success. If anything, there are not enough people inside healthcare who are being the canaries in the coal mine around mass adoptions without the human friction in the very biopsychosocial and spiritual needs being centered over max adoption for agentic, non human frictionless profits. What About Small Health Being The Guardrails? Here are a few things that community health facing providers and owner/ operators of clinics or care centers can do different than corporate medicine’s use of AI.* You are already a fast and critical thinker, yet you are not actually looking to hand over the relational interviews and creation of trust that is so important in the post acute care, functional diagnosis.* You using AI for thinking faster or handing it over to decide what is the patient’s medical and risk diagnosis. You already have it and it really is not the core determinant of how and what you will deliver to get them back into their general or special roles inside community enrollment.* Think way bigger and wider than an AI for notes. You want AI to organize your observations and the patient’s subjective inquires to find the common threads inside the conversational complexity and to do that using set constraints in sources for data aggregations. The AI you wrap your bots around must be able to meet more than HIPAA. Do you know how many clinics are employing staff who use their own AI, from various vendors, and thus exposing multiple risks, because the clinic owners refuse to learn more about it?See Bonus notes for: 1) What They Never Assumed You Would Need in Professional Schools2) The Health or Care Breakdown3) Why AI Is Not Just a Tool in Care Economy Systems4) The Subtle Shift Most Providers Miss5) Why This Matters More in Allied Health Than in Medicine6) The Real Risks in Poor Integrations 7) Thinking System-Level AI Strategy Becomes a Care Ethics IssueClosing ThoughtThe future of community health will not be determined by who uses AI the fastest. It will be determined by who understands the difference between: systems that support human intelligenceand systems that begin to replace the felt experience of human authority
