HiStories of Parliament Hill is a podcast series that explores public protest at Canada's iconic seat of government, its history and complexity, through the experiences and perspectives of past and present political activists.

An introduction to the topic of labour politics and activism in Canada. We learn about the On-to-Ottawa Trek that took place during the Great Depression and meet the interviewees who's experiences we will get to hear.

Barb Stewart, Arthur Carkner, and Bob Hatfield describe the work and technology that go into organizing civil disobedience. They share their stories of protesting on the Hill in 1991 as part of the Public Service Alliance of Canada's strike against the government of Brian Mulroney.

What is the nature of Protest? Why is Parliament Hill so important? Answers to these, and other questions, are offered by the interviewees as they share more personal stories of activism.

Motivations and understandings are shared by the interviewees and myself as this first chapter comes to a close.
