5 Steps I Took to Double My Income in 2 Years (Part 4)

FREE GUIDEBOOK: The 10 Pitfalls of Growing a Creative TeamOVERVIEWWhen was the last time something did not go according to plan with your business? You had a plan or an idea of what you were hoping for or working towards, and then something happened - many times, something that was totally out of your control, and the plans were ruined?Have you had to do this before? If you’ve been in business a while, I know this has happened to you. It happens to everyone! For me (and probably you, too!), 2020 started out as a year of ruined or cancelled plans for our businesses. 2020 was supposed to be the year of really putting my team members “on the map” - I wanted to build them up as a part of my brand, increase their influence in the wedding industry, and ensure that their portfolios were gorgeous and full by the end of the year. They had both been shooting as lead photographers for less than a year with me, so this was a huge priority. And with the weddings they had booked, we were all super excited to dig in and make it happen. But when the pandemic hit and the majority of our 2020 clients either rescheduled or majorly scaled down their weddings, the plan was pushed back. I spent a few weeks stuck in my overly optimistic mindset. However, by the beginning of April, I had a choice to make: was I going to keep living in the dreamworld of “this will pass soon” or did I get real, get serious, and make a plan for how we were going to weather the stormThankfully, I chose the latter, and I'm sharing exactly how that impacted my business on today's episode!RESOURCESVision Casting Workbook: Download for FreeENROLL NOW: How to Hire Your First Associate👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

5 Steps I Took to Double My Income in 2 Years (Part 2)

RESOURCESOVERVIEWWe are currently in the middle of a 5-part series on the steps I took to double my business income in 2 years. If you missed the last episode - Step 1 - go back and listen to that before jumping in to this week. It’s a helpful starting point and will make this episode all the more useful to you!If you listened in to Part 1 of this series you already know the backstory - that from the end of 2019 to the end of 2021 I doubled my business’s total revenue. It was a crazy two years in just about every way imaginable. And, you might have found yourself wondering - “did the pandemic actually create more free time in my calendar, which in turn allowed me to spend lots more time working “on” instead of “in” - well, yes and no!Last week’s Step 1 - that step was actually taken starting in 2019. Most of the initial time and habits I developed to start structuring my work days for working “on” the business more were established before (but only right before) my business started to grow rapidly. And truthfully, if I had waited to start prioritizing working ON my business until the pandemic hit - I think the results would have been dramatically different, and I wouldn’t have had the mental or emotional capacity to learn new skills or habits. So, yes, I did have more time in 2020 than I anticipated to work on the business, but the wheels of change had already been turning for about 6 months, and that is where the real change happened which planted to seeds of rapid growth. And on that note, we continue on our journey and tackle Step 2.---All 5 steps can be found here:✅ Step 1: Prioritize Working “On” Not “In” the Business✅ Step 2: Get Clear on the Long-Term Plan✅ Step 3: Hire the Right People✅ Step 4: Know When to Pivot✅ Step 5: Work Smarter, Not Harder🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Mentioned in This Episode:👉 Vision Casting Workbook: Download for Free💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥  Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

RESOURCESVision Casting Workbook: Download for FreeSIGN UP NOW: Dream Team Accelerator WaitlistJoin the Insiders Group: Team Building for Creative EntrepreneursOVERVIEWAt the beginning of 2020, I fully expected, like most wedding vendors, that the pandemic would hit our business very hard financially and might even put us out of business. But then, something very different happened. In 2020 and then 2021, we were growing, not shrinking. Our profits increased. And within two years, my company doubled it’s annual total income. It’s a bit of a sensitive thing for me to share this story, because I know that this is not reflective of what most businesses experienced during that time. I also am definitely not sharing this to suggest that somehow a worldwide pandemic helped my business grow. Far from it!I share this story with you because I want to share with you how my business not only survived, but grew exponentially (again, with all things considered) despite it being a very dark time in our wedding industry and world. My hope is that you can adopt the steps I took to protect my business and grow in the face of challenges so that YOU can do the same. Because while we hopefully won’t have another pandemic, there will be challenges in your business. Knowing the steps to take to grow and thrive despite challenges is how you create a business that stands the test of time and helps fuel your best and most fulfilled life.In this 5-week series, I’m going to share exactly what steps I took, both before and during 2020, to secure my business and promote massive growth so that you can do the same (without the added challenge of a global state of emergency!).Here's a preview of the 5 steps:1. 4 Different Types of Team Members & Why You Need Them

OVERVIEWAs you’ve probably noticed, I recently renamed this podcast to Team Building for Wedding Pros, and the reason I did that was because this new name highlights the specific subject within the wedding industry which is my area of expertise - it’s what I am most passionate about when it comes to being a small business owner, it’s what I get the most questions about from other business owners, it’s what I enjoy helping others with the most, and it’s what I had begun to share more and more about on this podcast. So, after taking a little hiatus from recording, I decided to give the podcast a new name to reflect the specific subject matter that I plan on sharing the most about moving forward. But, you might at some point have asked yourself the question: what does “team building” even really mean? What is a team, and what does it mean to build one?In the most basic way, “team building” just means adding other people to your business. It includes recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, maintaining, and sustaining a business with multiple people working inside of it. Maybe that was already pretty obvious to you, maybe not. But what I mean when I say “team building” is literally building a team of people to work within your business - from the ground up - and doing it the right way - the way that leads to a successful, sustainable, fulfilling and profitable business.I’m sharing more about that today, and specifically, I am going to break down the 4 different types of team members you may add as you are building your team, how these titles might overlap, and finally, how to know whether or not it’s a good idea for you to have that type of team member on your team.🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Mentioned in This Episode:👉 How to Hire Your First Associate Online Course: Learn More👉 How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free Guide)👉 Listen to: 5 Things You Can Delegate Today💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥 Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

7 Essential Steps for Growing a Successful Team

OVERVIEWI remember the first time I realized that there were wedding photographers out there that had more than one person in their company. They had multiple photographers who could shoot multiple weddings on any given day and I thought, “that is genius . . . and I can’t even FATHOM how to make that happen.”From the outside, running a team seems like a complete enigma - but then I realized that starting a business felt really similar - a total mystery, something I thought I could never do. But then I just . . . did it. I figured it out. That’s kind of how I set out to grow a team - at least, that was my attitude. “I’m going to just figure this out, one step at a time.” And luckily for you, with nearly 6 years of team-building experience under my belt, I now have some key steps that I can share with you so that you don’t have to wander in the wilderness, not even sure where to start.🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥 Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

Why Build a Team? 8 Reasons that Will Transform Your Business & Life

OVERVIEWLast December, about a week before Christmas, I sat with tears in my eyes - happy tears - surrounded by 3 of my dearest friends and our spouses. We were enjoying festive cocktails, champagne and the most amazing French food in the private wine cellar of Cafe Colline in Arlington and sharing stories about the past year and also, sharing all the ways we were proud of each other in 2022. Those three friends also happen to be team, and that dinner was our annual Christmas party. As we were headed home that night, I told Evan that this night was a highlight of my year, and possibly the culmination of everything I had worked for so far in my business. I think it may be the proudest I have ever felt in my life.Building a team is an absolutely incredible adventure - filled with so many unexpected moments of joy, of excitement, of frustration, of bonding and, as cheesy as it sounds . . . of memories. While it’s definitely a big commitment, my journey of team building isn’t something I would trade for the world. It’s one of the best things I’ve experienced in my work, and, as I mentioned before, it’s also one of the things I’m most proud of. As I’ve recalibrated this podcast to specifically focus on team building, I think it’s really important to start off with talking about WHY. Why should you even consider this massive commitment? That’s what I’m sharing today! 🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Other Key Links:👉 How to Hire Your First Associate Online Course: Learn More👉 How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free Guide)👉 BELAY: my top recommendation for virtual assistantsSchedule a call with Anna and mention Hannah Bjorndal for $300 off the implementation fee💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥 Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

Exactly How I Organize My Inbox to Save Hours of Time Each Week

Overvierw:Do you have your email opened right now? If you’re sitting at your computer or even on your phone, there is a good chance that the answer is yes. I wouldn’t’ even be surprised if you’re scrolling through it at a stoplight or in line at the grocery store right now.You hate it, and yet it sucks you in day after day. Three hours go by and it feels like it’s been 5 minutes . . . and you’re somehow still not closer to answering all those messages. More emails come in faster than you can respond to the originals. It feels like an endless cycle, doesn’t it?Today is the day to break that cycle, my friend. Because there is a solution - one that will save you hours of time and your sanity (not to mention that it will actually make you better at responding quickly and efficiently - which is exactly what those people on the other end of the email want, right?).Get ready, because we are talking all about how I organize my inbox to maximize productivity and minimize wasted time. 🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Mentioned in This Episode:👉 50% OFF Quickbooks👉 50% OFF Honeybook💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥 Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

How to Use Automations to Grow Your Business & Get Your Life Back with Honeybook Pro Diana Wei Fang

Overview:How much time each week do you spend on administrative tasks? I’m talking about sending client emails, booking dates on your calendar, collecting payments, and generally making sure all of your projects are up to date and where they need to be. Is it 8 hours? 10 hours? Half of your work week?We all know that taking care of customers is essential to having a successful business. It doesn’t matter what type of business you have - if you have paying customers (and especially if you are providing any type of service), then you are going to be spending time and energy making sure they have a great experience with you (and that you get the job done!). This is just how it works! But that is time consuming. If you spend a lot of your work week on simply managing projects, you aren’t left with a lot of time to do other things to make sure your business can actually grow. There isn’t a lot of time for strategy. So, I’m guessing if you’re listening right now and you’ve had a business for a while, you probably DO have some kind of system that you follow to make sure your clients have a consistent experience. But I’m also going to guess that there are some things you could be doing to save yourself even more time and energy AND also give your client an extra-special experience with you. That’s what we’re talking about today - I’m talking with a systems strategist and  Honeybook Pro, Diana Wei Fang, all about how to use client relationship management tools to make your life easier and your clients happier. Diana is the owner of The Finer Points, a social media & systems strategist. She helps creatives and small business owners like you tell your story and reach your people—in less time—through social media and systems. She creates content strategies that mirrors your mission and values, getting your extraordinary work seen by the right people. Is Scaling Your Business the Right Next Step? 5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Growing

Overview:Scaling your business refers to the ability to grow or increase the amount of work (or sales) exponentially in a sustainable, cost-effective way - and by sustainable, I mean financially AND practically speaking. Successfully scaling your business means that you have created a structure and framework that allows you to continually grow and sell more or your service - without also having to do more work OR spend so much money that it no longer makes sense. In the creative service industry world, a scalable business is able to increasingly make more money through taking on bigger clients OR more clients OR both without also forcing the owner to work more and more hours (which eventually becomes unsustainable) OR spending more and more money at the same rate of making more money (which wouldn’t make any sense, right?).Here’s why scaling your business can be awesome.First, it can allow you to step back from day-to-day operations (or performing whatever service you are doing) and give you more room to focus on the big picture and be the “visionary” for your company. Now, I know that you already are the visionary. You started the business, you had the original idea and creativity - you have the vision. But do you ever wish you had more time to work on these big-picture ideas? Scaling could give you the space to do this without dropping the ball on clients, or decreasing quality of your work, or killing yourself working way too many hours.Scaling can also, in general, give you more time and freedom in your life to do other things. Particularly if you feel burdened by your clients - like you’re on a hamster wheel that you just can’t slow down - scaling could give you more freedom and time. It could allow you to take more time off or have a better work-life balance.Something else that scaling can do for you that you’ve probably figured out by now - scaling can make you more money without forcing you to work any more hours. I think that sounds pretty good to a lot of us, right? When done well, this is exactly what scalability will do for you (but again - if this is your only reason, that is not a good enough reason to scale! Trust me!).Finally, and maybe most importantly, scaling your business can allow you to serve more people and spread your mission further than you ever could on a small scale. If you’re passionate about your company’s mission and you’d like to bring that mission to more people - more customers - then scaling can help you do that. But, back to the original question - is scaling right for you? Here are the 5 questions to ask yourself:1. What is my "dream role" in my business?2. Am I ready to add team members to my business?3. Am I willing to spend time and money on my business structure?4. Can I let go of perfectionism for the greater goal of scaling?5. Am I willing to take on risk?Of course, there are many other factors to consider before scaling, but after scaling my own business, these are the questions I have found to be most helpful when deciding if you should take the next step!🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Mentioned in This Episode:👉 How to Hire Your First Associate Online Course: Learn More👉 How to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

Overview:What, right now, is stopping you from achieving what you’re dreaming of? Did you think of something specific? Or maybe a few things? For many of us, we feel held back by something - whether it be a lack of knowledge or a skill set, or even fear. More about Amanda: She is a mindset and sales coach who helps online business owners who are struggling behind the scenes to cultivate the mindset they need to land clients and make money on repeat. 4 Steps to Writing a Business Plan that Drives Growth (REFOCUS Week 4)

Overview:I think the term “business plan” is kind of intimidating.  For me, the term seemed like something you learn how to do in business school, and it only really applied to big businesses. But actually, to be honest, I had no idea what a business plan actually was. Sure, I could have guessed, but if you had asked me to sit down and write a business plan for my business, I would have felt very overwhelmed and had no idea where to even start.Well, about two years ago, when I made some major shifts in my business, one of the things I did was learn how to write a business plan. And what I learned really surprised me. In today’s episode, I’m going to share with you more about writing a business plan. And even more broadly than that, I’m going to share how to strategically plan for your business to grow and scale long-term in a way that is intentional and actually gets results.🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Mentioned in This Episode:👉 Free Workbook: 3 Steps to Creating Your Personal Vision Statement👉 Episode 46: 5 Full-Proof Steps to Achieving a Big Goal💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥  Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

3 Parts of Your Business Identity that You Need to Understand to Grow (REFOCUS Week 3)

Overview:What do you think of when you hear the word “identity?” What about when you think of your own identity? Who are you? Identity is what makes you, you. It’s all those qualities, beliefs, character traits, values - all of those things that make you an individual. That make you unique. Knowing who you are - well, that’s pretty important to being healthy, well-functioning, whole human being. Our businesses also have an identity, too. And as the owner and creator of that business, we get to have a say about exactly what that identity is. However, a lot of business owners allow their businesses to float along, without a clearly defined identity. In fact, they haven’t ever really thought about who their business is or why.Is this you? If the answer is yes, or even if the answer is “maybe” - it’s OK! Most businesses don’t START with a clearly-defined identity. This is something that takes time to understand, discover and then clearly define. But once you’ve been in business for a while, you’ve gained some traction, you have a regular client base - you’re experiencing success! Well, now it’s time to start paying attention to that identity so that you can make it clear to the world (and yourself) exactly who your business is and why.The reason? Because your identity is the foundation from which you build your business. I’m going to share MORE about why this is important in today’s episode, as well as HOW to clearly define your business’s identity - specifically, 3 different important elements of your identity. 🔥 FREE Resource:Grab the guide: How to Write a Personal Vision in 3 Easy Steps (Free!) to define your biggest priorities in business & life.🛠️ Mentioned in This Episode:👉 Free Workbook: 3 Steps to Creating Your Personal Vision Statement👉 Episode 46: 5 Full-Proof Steps to Achieving a Big Goal💬 Let’s Connect:DM me your biggest takeaway from this episode on Instagram → @HannahBjorndal📥  Want My Very Best Tips?Join all the VIP wedding pros getting actionable biz tips on the regular.👉 Join the VIP ClubHow to Hire Your First Associate: Online CourseEnroll NowLearn More

4 Essentials Your Business Needs to Grow & Scale (REFOCUS Week 1)

Overview:This is Week 1 of a 5-part podcast series called REFOCUS.REFOCUS is going to walk you through a few foundational business strategies that I personally use in my business and that have totally transformed my business from a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants operation to a well-organized and carefully structured business that has become scalable (which basically means I have created a sustainable model for increasing profits continually without working more hours in a day) - to specific results being that I DOUBLED my company’s revenue in 2 years (yes - the same two years that we all have been living, which have almost entirely been consumed by a worldwide pandemic). To be honest, in 2019, my business was already doing really well. Or at least that’s what I saw. I was making good money and I had really great clients. I even had some automations and systems in place, and I had added team members - one of them was even associate shooting for me by then. But what my business lacked at the beginning of 2019 were three important things: sustainability, scalability and focus. So this week, I'm sharing the 4 essentials I implemented which allowed me to get refocused and intentional about building a sustainable, scalable company.
