When Does It Become Real?
When does something in your life actually become real?Is it when there’s proof? When it’s official? When other people can see it too?In this episode, we explore the quiet threshold where becoming begins — the moment when something shifts inside you before the evidence appears.Throughout scripture, identity is often spoken before the life that reflects it unfolds.Sarai becomes Sarah before the promise takes shape.Mary is called favored before anyone around her would recognize it.Esther is told she may have been placed where she is “for such a time as this” before she believes she’s brave enough to act.Maybe sometimes the name is spoken first…and the rest of life is learning to grow into it.This episode is an invitation to take one step as the person you’re becoming — even if the world hasn’t caught up yet.

A Trembling Yes: When You Don’t Feel Good Enough for Your Calling
Have you ever felt drawn toward something meaningful… and immediately questioned whether you’re good enough to do it?In this quiet reflection, Kate explores the tender moment many of us face when the dreams we’ve prayed for begin to feel real. When the calling we longed for starts to look like a mirror—revealing our fears, insecurities, and the lingering question: What if I’m not enough?Inspired by the phrase “enter the archway of trust” from Song of Songs and the promise of transformation in 2 Corinthians 3:18, this episode reflects on the threshold between fear and faith. The place where healing doesn’t look like confidence or certainty, but a small, trembling yes.If you’re standing near your own threshold right now—a dream, a decision, a step of obedience that makes your hands shake—this episode is for you.You don’t have to sprint.A single step counts. You are not an imposter. You are in progress.Take one small step today. The rest will come.

What Season Are You In?
There’s a quiet pressure that comes with the beginning of a year — the sense that we’re supposed to arrive with clarity, motivation, and a plan. But what if there isn’t a “right” way to start? In this episode, we pause to check in with ourselves and notice the season we’re actually in — whether that looks like recalibration, rest, renewal, or momentum. Not every season is a launch, and not every beginning requires answers. This is a gentle invitation to honor your own rhythm, release comparison, and ask a softer question:What would support me here?If you’re tired, slow, unsure, or feeling a little undone… this episode is for you.

Is It Even Christmas If You’re Not Slightly Overwhelmed?
If your wrapping paper is in the pantry, your lights are half-strung, and you’ve cried at least once over Scotch tape… welcome. You’re in the right place. In this short Christmas reflection, we take a deep breath together and slow the season down. Because beneath the noise, the pressure, and the “I’m fine, it’s just… everything,” there’s still something sacred whispering for our attention.Maybe the magic of Christmas isn’t what we add to it.Maybe it’s what we notice. This episode is an invitation into presence—into warmth, stillness, and the quiet moments where Christ’s peace finds us. No perfection required. No performance needed. Just a few grounding reminders that you’re allowed to rest, enjoy, and simply be.Merry Christmas, love.May the peace of Christ settle softly into your heart this year.

Are You Hovering Over Your Project? So Did the Spirit
In Genesis 1, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters — alive with creative power, ready to bring beauty out of chaos. Later, the Spirit filled Bezalel, not to preach or lead, but to craft with skill and artistry. This episode explores how that same Spirit now dwells in us — reintegrating what feels fractured, calling forth creativity, and reminding us that your life is a canvas He is still painting.

The Lie That You’re Only Loved if You’re Useful
I used to think staying useful was the safest way to belong. Maybe you’ve felt that too—always one project away from collapse, one “yes” away from burnout. But here’s the truth: God is our refuge, not our performance. This week, I’m inviting you into a messy, unpolished conversation about saying no, choosing peace, and letting God be protector.

I’m Okay with Being Naïve (and Why That’s a Good Thing)
At 38, I’ve decided I’m already 40 in my head—and honestly, I’m okay with it. In this episode, I share why I’m learning to embrace being a little “naïve” again. Not naïve as in clueless, but naïve as in soft, pure, and willing to believe the best—even after being hurt.Because suspicion isn’t a fruit of the Spirit, but gentleness is. And Scripture calls us to be “wise as serpents and innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16). For me, that looks like trusting the Holy Spirit for discernment while choosing softness as strength. If love really “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7), then maybe being naïve—in the best sense—isn’t weakness at all. Maybe it’s wisdom.

In this episode of I Can’t, I’m Healing, I sit down with Candace, director of the Springboard Home for Girls in Tucson (part of Teen Challenge)—a pastor, licensed social worker, and mom who has walked through real struggles and now pours her story back into hope for young women. We talk about:What safe place mindfulness is and how it retrains our hearts and bodies to recognize safetyThe hard but freeing truth that kids don’t need us to be their professionals—they need us to be their parentsWhy acceptance is more powerful than “tolerance” when it comes to bridging generationsHow to keep hope alive in heavy seasons without walking aloneCandace shares deeply from her own story as a mom and leader, and near the end she guides us through a short Safe Place mindfulness practice you can follow along with wherever you are. Split in Two: Masking, Sensitivity & the Slow Work of Becoming Whole
aka… Why Am I Still 17 Inside?Ever feel like your outside life doesn’t match your inner one?Like you’re a grown adult with bills and babies… but somehow still carrying the emotions of your 17-year-old self?In this episode, we talk about the fractures that form when we learn to mask — and how pride, sensitivity, and self-protection keep us from wholeness.I share how these fractures show up in my own life, and what it looks like to let God gently put the pieces back together. Not through perfection or performance — but through integration, honesty, and grace. You’ll hear:• The two types of fractures we carry• Why hiding your flaws is still a form of self-rejection• How to invite God into the parts you’ve rejected• What healing has looked like for me (and maybe for you too)This isn’t a rant or a self-help talk — it’s a breath of truth for anyone who’s tired of pretending.Because healing isn’t about being fine. It’s about being real — and letting God love you there.

Faith, Body, and the Messy Middle with Cara Havens
This is my first-ever guest episode (!), and I couldn’t be more grateful to share this tender conversation with my friend Cara Havens — therapist, mother, and one of the most down-to-earth, loving people I know.Together we talk about healing in relationship — how therapy creates a safe space to return to yourself, how old coping strategies often stop working when we become parents, and how faith and body wisdom intertwine when we let God meet us where we are.We explore somatic healing, spiritual hurt, self-compassion, and permission to slow down and tune in — even in the messy, ordinary middle of life.Wherever you’re listening from today, let this conversation be a gentle reminder: you don’t have to rush to heal.If you’d like to connect with Cara, you can reach her at [email protected].
