Kelly’s Taboo Terrors: THE SEASONING HOUSE (2012) w. KELLY MCNEELY
In the episode, we are dropped into 1990s Yugoslavia with The Seasoning House (2012). Kelly's Taboo Terrors: ATROZ (2018) W. MIKEY PERALTA JR
In this episode, we head to Mexico with “Mexico’s most violent film”, Atroz (2018) by Lex Ortega. Taking social and political commentary to dark and shocking places, Atroz doesn’t pull any punches - it’s provocative and memorable. It challenges everything you thought you knew and more. Taking inspiration from Ruggero Deodato, renowned filmmaker behind Cannibal Holocaust (and is an associate producer), Ortega’s first feature is an endurance test worth taking. My guest for this episode is Mikey Peralta Jr! Mikey is a Mexican-American creator who focuses on Latin American cinema with a social justice lens. He has a monthly column with Dread Central called Horror en Español. Episode 69: Spinster's Choice - Kōji Shiraishi ~ Occult (2009) & A Record of Sweet Murder (2014)
In this episode of SPINSTERS CHOICE, one of us selects a movie we're passionate about. This time, it's Jessica's turn, and naturally, she is taking us back to Japan. Japanese horror, especially J-Horror, is captivating, and combine it with found footage, and you have a Koji Shiraishi film—the director we have decided to spotlight for this Spinster’s Choice. We'll be focusing on two lesser-known films, Occult (2009) and A Record of Sweet Murder (2014). We'll revisit the essence of Japanese horror and the J-horror movement, discuss Koji Shiraishi’s influence and impact on the genre, and explore why Japan has so many cults. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: Epitaph - Necrophilia
It’s time for season one to die. Necrophilia is dead, buried, and no one has been left wanting. From the concept of the taboo, to reflections of the season past, this episode should satisfy your lust for the macabre. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: THE YEARNING OF MARIA D (2018) W. JESSICA STUART
This month is the season finale! And I have chosen the perfect film and guest to end on. I will be dissecting THE YEARNING OF MARIA D (2018) from the elusive underground filmmaker Marian Dora. The final movie on necrophilia is a powerhouse of the extreme, and I can’t wait to share it with you. We will be tackling animal death on screen, arthouse extreme, and of course, the necrophilia of it all. My guest for this episode is the co-host of my other show, I SPIT ON YOUR PODCAST, and a long-time friend, Jessica! Jess is a Doom Metal Witch who enjoys subversive cinema, exploring her chaotic taste in music, and being the goth Weird Girl. She has written for various horror outlets such as Grim Magazine, Horror Homeroom, and Last Girls Club. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: MACABRE (1980) W. DONNA THA DEAD
This month, I'm traversing the world of Italian horror cinema with Lamberto Bava’s MACABRE! Known for releasing some controversial films like Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, and The New York Ripper, the Italian horror market is no stranger to transgressive themes. Though this is a more subtle take on necrophilia than other films covered, it is weird, romantic, and interesting! An underseen gem, Macabre stays true to its name. My guest for this episode is Donna Tha Dead! Donna is a passionate horror podcaster who dives deep into the eerie, unsettling, and mysterious. As a woman of color in the horror community, she brings fresh perspectives to the genre, exploring everything from horror and cult classics to series with horror undertones. With a love for storytelling and a knack for uncovering the terrifying tales that lurk in the shadows, she creates chilling content that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: Gorotica (1993) W. MARCUS KOCH
This month, I am diving into the wonderful, grimy world of 90s shot-on-video cinema. Starring the cult star Ghetty Chasun and a part of Hugh Gallagher’s Gore trilogy, this is one of my favorite necrophilia films! It portrays two interesting aspects of the fetish: one titillating and one desperate, both entertaining. My guest for this episode is Marcus Koch! Marcus is a special effects artist specializing in realistic gore FX. His work can be seen in movies like We Are Still Here (2015), Jakob's Wife (2021), and Sweatshop (2009). He even directs his movies on rare occasions, like ROT (1999), 100 Tears (2007), and Bloodshock (2015), which is the second film in the American Guinea Pig series.Music by Tony WareEditing & Images by Jessica StuartFollow me on Social Media:Threads/Instagram @tabooterrorsBluesky https://bsky.app/profile/tabooterrors.bsky.socialDISCORD: https://discord.gg/BbyBZMpy6t Support the Underground: https://ko-fi.com/tabooterrorsSupport the Taboo:https://app.fetishfinder.com/userProfile/venal_anatomica

This month, I am dissecting two horror films from indie filmmaker Dustin Mills, Her Name Was Torment (2014) and Her Name Was Torment II: Agony (2016). Blending cult conspiracies, angels, serial killing, corpse banging, and solid gore, these films give you a look into the filthy, perverse world of female necrophiliacs. And we like it! My guest for this episode is Robert Clark! Robert is the host of the Creepy And Geeky podcast. A show which explores horror and other genre films through casual conversations with mostly women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: eROTik (2018) W. JOHN PATTERSON
Welcome to Kelly’s Taboo Terrors, a monthly podcast that explores the transgressive side of cinema. These movies, and discussions, are not for the faint of heart so listener's discretion is strongly advised. This month, I am tackling a very explicit and interesting film by famed Italian extreme horror filmmaker, Domiziano Cristopharo - eROTik (2018). Portraying the loneliness of queerness and mental illness, eROTik is a desolate and strange look into the world of the male necrophile. Viewer's discretion is strongly advised for those wary of male ejaculation! My guest for this episode is John Patterson! John writes about extreme horror and anything else that catches his interest. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: DEADGIRL (2008) W. KELLY MCNEELY
A film I love to hate, and hate to love, Deadgirl (2008) remains one of the most disgusting pieces of cinema I have ever experienced. And that’s saying a lot! Bringing to the screen violent misogyny through zombie rape, assault, and brutality, Deadgirl is tremendously offensive and controversial - but also one that gets people talking. It’s a 00s nasty, I am here to finally discuss it, once and for all. My guest for this episode is Kelly McNeely! Kells is a co-host and enthusiastic mixologist for Black Fawn Distro’s YouTube channel, which also houses her “Streams & Screams” review series. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: NEKROMANTIK (1988) W. ERIC FALARDEAU
As far as necrophilia films go, none are more recognizable than German filmmaker, Jorg Buttgereit's, Nekromantik. Epitomizing underground transgressive cinema, Nekromantik shows us the sensual side of the paraphilia, giving us a film with a legacy of sexual depravity and iconic imagery. A cerebral exploitation film that forces us to witness sex, death and body fluids, and how they cum together so perfectly. Can we fuck the fear of death away? My guest for this episode is Éric Falardeau! Éric has written and directed short films, music videos, the cult horror feature Thanatomorphose (2012), which has won him several awards in film festivals. He also wrote the porn-horror movie The Thing from the Lake (2019). Éric has guest-curated exhibitions at the Cinémathèque québécoise and published volumes on erotic cinema, the history of special effects in Quebec and on body fluids in gore and pornography. Kelly's Taboo Terrors: AFTERMATH (1994) W. GOBLIN O'RILEY
It’s time to crack open a cold one as the first official season of Kelly’s Taboo Terrors is in full swing! In this episode, I am revisiting the often reviled necrophilia short film by director Nacho Cerda, Aftermath (1994). A powerful film without dialogue, Aftermath says wonders about the desecration of the body after death and how violent brutalizing corpses can be. Is this post-mortem rape or just another way to seek revenge? We discuss this and more on the inaugural episode of your new favorite film podcast. My guest for this episode is the Masked Menace from the Quality Violent Cinema podcast, Goblin O’Riley. With his lack of cinematic knowledge and even less of a personality, Goblin has kept his role in the QVC universe just by showing up. He's also the deeply disturbed brain behind Red Lust, aka Bloodlust XXX, and is 1/3 of the brains behind Slave Dolls 2: Red Rooms, now available from New Film Order. When not ruining podcasts or filming disgusting fetish gore/porn, he can be found reading about psychology, philosophy, and esoteric knowledge. He also has a cat named Django, and she's pretty rad. Salem Horror Fest: George Romero's Season of The Witch (1973)
In this episode, we will discuss how Season of the Witch is representative of the dual nature within women seen in the archetypes of The Witch versus The Wife. We will explore the role of the wife in western culture and the societal expectations placed upon women in the 1970s. Also popular during this time was the rise of occultism and witchcraft among these (primarily) white women due to the independence it created. As well, we will examine the image of the witch as representative of feminism and sexual freedom that could be seen taking place during the Sexual Revolution (1960-1980) in which Season of the Witch takes place. As we watch Joan move from the role of a desperate, constrained housewife/mother to a sexually liberated witch, Season of the Witch suggests that she potentially traded one gilded cage for another. How does Romero’s perspective about these roles compare to that of two alternative women living their unconventional lives in 2021? This is what we intend to find out in probing the more obscure and underrated 1973 film. Enjoy and welcome to our dark side... The Rise of Carmilla: A Satanic Estate Presentation
Historically, female vampires were portrayed as predatory lesbians or as subservient to a Master in the form of Dracula. They were the Brides, a means to bring victims to the male vampire. Modernized versions of the Brides have them liberated from any Master and are unconventional women fighting against the patriarchy and the “traditions” that try to keep them submissive. Female vampires of the 2010s show us the full spectrum of these women - they are taking back the night. Through the films Bit (2019), Byzantium (2017), and Bliss (2019) – We see the Rise of Carmilla. Episode 40: Spinsters Choice! Children's Horror: Return to Oz (1985)
In this episode, it was Spinster’s Choice and Kelly chose the theme of Children’s Horror and the film up for discussion is the 1985 Disney film Return to Oz. This is a childhood favourite of Kelly’s and has left her lasting nightmarish memories and this is a first-time watch for me despite my love for the Wizard of Oz. So we are going to discuss L. Frank Baum and the World of Oz, the film as gateway horror and the age-old question: When is it a good time to introduce children to the horror genre? Throughout this episode, you will hear clips from fellow horror fans who talk about those childhood films that scared them. Thank you, Jenn, Carolyn, Dom, Richard, and Ariel for sharing your stories.
