    E26 Interview with VP of CU Admissions, Dr. Tyler Coyle

    Juliette Lowe, MS1, interviews Tyler Coyle, Assistant Dean of Admissions at the CU Anschutz School of Medicine. Dr. Coyle describes CU’s admissions process and holistic review, emphasizing healthcare exposure, leadership, scholarship, and curiosity. He also debunks myths about needing a 510+ or being “cooked” if you don’t have your interview by Thanksgiving. Dr. Coyle dives into standards for students with and without gap years, and what makes a meaningful experience. The conversation highlights CU’s collaborative environment, normalization of first-year struggles, and appreciation for resilience and growth mindset in the application process.

    In this episode, host Lauren interviews Dr. Kimberly Warner, a Denver OB/GYN, Colorado Permanente Medical Group’s Government Relations Chair, and former Colorado Medical Society President. Dr. Warner shares how she came into these roles and the many forms advocacy can take for physicians and medical students.
