    Balance Meditation 11: Kundalini Yoga

Experience deep calm, centered focus, and equanimity with this quick guided breathwork meditation. This Kundalini yoga meditation invites spiritual, mental, and physical balance. Spiritual balance aligns your inner self with your outer life, integrating introspection and awareness with your daily tasks of living. It involves aligning to your higher purpose, even while engaged in seemingly mundane tasks (because truly anything can become your sadhana, or daily spiritual practice).Mental balance refers to an equanimous mind — maintaining a sense of peace and stability that isn’t disturbed by the outside world or distracted by internal sensations.Physical balance is a resilient stability of the body. It’s the ability to move like the trees: steady and flexible, able to bend and not break while remaining strong. Balance also relies on having a steady breath that can quicken and deepen as needed, and easily return back to calm.Pair this meditation after this season’s Sadhana practice (all 22-min videos are available at innermostgarden.com) or try it on its own. If you’re curious about hypnotherapy, learn more about how it can help you break through long-held patterns.

    Breath of Fire Meditation 04

Boost your energy, increase your lung capacity, and clear away anything you no longer need with this breath work paired with a candle gazing meditation.Midway between winter solstice and the spring equinox, this time in the Wheel of the Year of Imbolc symbolizes purification and rebirth with the first signs of coming spring. This is the time to get rid of everything that’s no longer useful to you (both externally and internally) and reconnect with your inner light. This meditation pairs the Breath of Fire (agni pranayam) with a traditional Trataka meditation (candle gazing) to help you boost your energy, increase your lung capacity, and clear away anything that no longer serves you.During Breath of Fire, strongly pump your navel to really suck in the air and forcefully push it out. This will help clear your airways (commonly congested during this time of year) and detoxify your cells, lungs, and blood.Note: If you’re currently menstruating, skip Breath of Fire and instead do long, slow, deep breathing. Breath of Fire floods the blood with oxygen and will increase your flow. (I didn’t believe it either, until I did it anyway during my period…. Live and learn.)Pair this meditation after this season’s Sadhana practice (all 22-min videos are available at innermostgarden.com/category/sadhana) or try it on its own. If you’d like to go deeper, try hypnotherapy to let go of suppressed emotions and trauma to start your year fresh.
