    Episode 7: Hunting Matthew Nichols

This week, Jack and George head into the woods for Hunting Matthew Nichols, a found-footage/mockumentary horror film about a documentary filmmaker trying to solve the decades-old disappearance of her brother and his friend on Vancouver Island. The movie follows Tara Nichols as she digs into old evidence, missing tapes, family trauma, and the kind of mystery that starts as true crime and slowly turns into something much darker. Part missing-person documentary, part supernatural horror story, and part "why would anyone go back into those woods?" cautionary tale, Hunting Matthew Nichols plays with the old fear that some stories do not want to be solved. It leans into found-footage nostalgia, but with a cleaner documentary style instead of pure shaky-cam chaos. For Episode 7, we talk about whether the movie earns its scares, how well the mystery builds, and why fake documentaries can sometimes feel more unsettling than traditional horror movies. We also get into what makes a good "lost tape" story work, how much backstory is too much backstory, and whether this one belongs in the same conversation as the found-footage movies that clearly inspired it. Basically, we watched a movie about people investigating a horrible disappearance in the woods, and then we did the most responsible thing possible: we recorded ourselves talking about why that was a terrible idea. Episode 6: Faces of Death (2026)

Episode 6 — Faces of Death (2026) There are things you watch because you want to. And then there are things you watch because you can't quite look away. In this episode, Jack and George take on Faces of Death (2026), a movie that sits in a weird place between horror, curiosity, and something a little harder to define. It's less about story and more about reaction. About what happens when a movie stops feeling like a movie. We talk about: where the line is between horror and something more uncomfortable why "real" or "real-feeling" changes the way you experience what you're watching and whether a movie like this is trying to say anything… or just make you feel something This one isn't fun in the usual way. It's not even scary in the usual way. It just stays with you… whether you want it to or not. Follow us on Letterboxd: George: mildmanneredaf Jack: TopThrillJack Same movie. Different reactions. Still not sure we should've watched this one

Episode 5: They Will Kill You

There are places that feel wrong. And then there are places that are built that way. In this episode, Jack and George take on They Will Kill You, a movie that traps its characters inside something bigger than they understand. A building, a system, a set of rules that don't quite make sense until it's already too late. We talk about: was this an action movie or a horror movie? who was the actual bad guy of this movie? and, of course, how long would we survive in this scenario? This one doesn't rush. It just keeps tightening. And the longer it goes, the less it feels like anyone is actually in control. Follow us on Letterboxd: George: mildmanneredaf Jack: TopThrillJack

Episode 4: Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die

Some movies ask big questions. Some movies just throw you into chaos and tell you to keep up. This one does a little bit of both. In this episode, Jack and George take on Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die, a movie that moves fast, thinks fast, and doesn't spend a lot of time explaining itself. It's part action, part sci-fi, part "just go with it." This one's about momentum. And whether that's enough. Follow us on Letterboxd: George: mildmanneredaf Jack: TopThrillJack

    Episode 3: It's Such a Beautiful Day

Some movies tell a story. This one kind of… drifts through one. In this episode, Jack and George sit with It's Such a Beautiful Day, a film that feels simple on the surface and then slowly becomes something else entirely. It's quiet, strange, and at times unexpectedly heavy. We talk about: how a movie with almost nothing in it can still feel overwhelming what it means to follow a character you don't fully understand and whether this is even a movie you're supposed to "get" This one hits differently depending on how you watch it. And we definitely didn't watch it the same way.   Follow us on Letterboxd: George: mildmanneredaf Jack: TopThrillJack   Follow us on Instagram: JackandGeorgeWatchMovies

Episode 2: Ready or Not 2

There are bad nights. And then there are hide-and-seek-with-a-rich-family-that-wants-you-dead nights. In this episode, Jack and George step into Ready or Not 2 and try to figure out why watching people panic in a giant house is… kind of a great time. We talk about: why simple premises hit so hard the difference between fun scary and actually scary and how long we'd realistically survive in this situation (Jack thinks he has a plan. I strongly disagree.) Some movies try to be smart. Some movies just know exactly what they are. This one might be both.  But, that's a big MIGHT. Follow us on Letterboxd: George: mildmanneredaf Jack: TopThrillJack We're two episodes in. No strategy. No master plan. Just watching movies and seeing what sticks.

  7. 1

    Episode 1: Project Hail Mary

There's a man alone in space. No memory. No plan. Just a problem that might end everything. So naturally… we talk about it. In our first episode, Jack and George dive into Project Hail Mary and what makes a story like this actually work. Is it the science? The stakes? Or just the fact that watching one guy try not to completely screw everything up feels… a little too relatable? We get into: why space stories hit differently what makes a character worth rooting for and whether either of us would last more than 10 minutes in this situation (Spoiler: we would not.) This is the start of something. We're figuring it out as we go. But that's kind of the point.
