Janelle Talks Too Much

Description

Let's talk about things that SHOULD be talked about. As a host, I enjoy discussing topics that people tend to avoid. This podcast is a safe space to discuss, tear down, pull apart, and reassemble ideas and concepts with the goal of obtaining true understanding. In order to remove traditional ways of thinking and operating, we begin by listening to each other's stories and ideas with hopes that we are able to gain and offer perspective. Come join me in the process as new episodes become available on a bi-weekly basis!

Why Do We Do That? Childless by Choice vs. Motherhood

    Release Date: 2/25/2023

    Duration: 48780 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: For women, the term "motherhood" can create either excitement or fear depending on your audience. In this episode, listeners should be able to gain perspective on the topic of child bearing and child rearing without casting resentment. Although I do not have children myself, I understand that motherhood is difficult. Conversations surrounding motherhood often leave women idealizing the topic as if it is their civic  duty to reproduce or they end up running for the hills in search of contraceptives. Women should support women, regardless of your walk of life, please do not allow major media to sway your outlook on mothers or those who choose to not experience it, for their own reasons. Let's bridge the gap and eliminate the stigma, at least amongst ourselves, in order to unite femininity and reproductive freedom!

Why Do We Do That? Demonizing Sex Work

    Release Date: 11/11/2022

    Duration: 48420 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: Don't assume because someone takes their clothes off for money that they have no sense of self-worth, ambition, or self-respect. The phrase "sex sells" has stuck with us, as consumers, for a reason. Within the US sex work is considered "nasty" and "low brow". But in countries like Germany, sex work is not only legal, but a completely normal way of earning income. Treating people with dignity and respect should not be limited to those that clock in, wearing a suit, to a 9-5 job. Sex workers are clocking in, just like you! Please don't allow what society has taught you, about modesty, to cloud your ability to see people, who are different than you, as anything less than worthy of respect.

Things You Can't Talk About With Your Parents: Disrespect

    Release Date: 10/7/2022

    Duration: 42480 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: Parents, are we really being disrespectful? Or are we just calling you out for disrespecting us? Being held accountable, especially if it comes from your own children, can be uncomfortable. However, accountability should not be a one-way street in parenthood. Just because they are your kids does not give you, the parents, the right to bully and disrespect them. I encourage you, parents, to allow yourself to gain perspective from a child's place and be the safe adult you wish you had in your own childhood.

    Duration: 61500 Mins

Description: In general, no one really enjoys disappointing their parents. But would you rather be miserable, living a lie, and be bound to someone you don't truly love? Why Do We Do That? Obsession over Celebrity News & Parasocial Interaction

    Release Date: 5/20/2022

    Duration: 42720 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: We once watched movies, listened to music, and admired models for the art form and content they created. Now, the only form of entertainment that feels socially stimulating is seeing a celebrity's entire career, and life, fall apart while all the world watches. It's giving Britney, circa 2007. We, as the consumers of media,  are no longer hard to entertain as long as a celebrity has a public relationship crisis.  With all the attention on Will and Jada, Kim and Kanye, Johnny and Amber, fans are now becoming attached to their screens and to the people displayed on them. Parasocial interaction creates the idea that we are ON our favorite sports team, that we KNOW our favorite celebrity wouldn't engage in violence, and that our politicians truly want the best for our country. Take a step back and remember that these are people, just like you and me.

Why Do We Do That? Settling for Less in Our Relationships

    Release Date: 5/7/2022

    Duration: 58620 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: Settling for abuse, maltreatment, and maladaptive behaviors for the sake of companionship has become a plague in our society. Prioritizing having, and maintaining, a romantic relationship should not be the focal point of our accomplishments. This tends to lead to the dissolution of self and the obsession of preserving toxic partnerships. Prioritizing our safety, comfortability, and sense of self is something that gets pushed to the back burner when we are introduced to having interactions and relationships with others. We, as a collective, need to refocus our intentions and energy back onto the self in order to not perpetuate the vicious cycle of validation chasing and enduring loveless relationships.

Description: TRIGGER WARNING!Discussion of sexual assault and victim blaming. In order to better protect ourselves, and others, open conversation around sexual assault/abuse needs to be normalized. Creating a safe space for someone to express their vulnerability and fears, even children, should be mandatory in parenting. In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, I encourage everyone to listen with a compassionate and understanding heart to every survivor of SA. Why Do We Do That? Our Willingness to Believe Anything/Plato's Allegory

    Release Date: 4/22/2022

    Duration: 62940 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: Have you ever heard of "Plato's Allegory?" Its key lesson is for you to "question every assumption you have about the reality you call 'real'."Our devout beliefs about the world,  and the people in it, often morph into ignorance and stubbornness, when challenged. I challenge everyone to look beyond what they think they know and gain perspective from the opps. We allow ourselves the opportunity to bridge the gap between opposing sides when we stop categorizing differences as opposition.

Things You Can't Talk About With Your Parents: Your Parents' Mistakes

    Release Date: 3/18/2022

    Duration: 32220 Mins

    Authors: Janelle

Description: Holding our parents accountable for their toxicity: impossible or just uncomfortable? Most of us are not able to achieve a level of mutual respect from our parents because "we are the children, they are the adult, what they say is right, and there's nothing we can do about it". I encourage listeners to take a step out of the familial title of "daughter" "son" "mother" or "father" and attempt to see one another as individuals first. Holding your parents responsible for their words and actions can be liberating...if it's done right. Buckle up, your folks might accuse you of being disrespectful after this one.

    Release Date: 3/19/2021

    Authors: toomuchunapologeticwomen

Description: Welcome to TOO MUCH: A podcast for unapologetic women. We are Heather & Heather (aka Heather Rauh and Heather Rose Walters), two women who have been labeled 'too much' by too many for too long. We are here to embrace that label, and to celebrate anyone else who's been told they need to 'tone it down,' 'be nicer,' or play smaller, in order to make other people more comfortable. On this podcast, we discuss topics across the spectrum as they intersect with feminism (and we believe feminism must be intersectional!) Whoever you are, wherever you're from, if you've ever been made to feel like you're 'too much'? Good for you. We're excited you're here.
