Akau Jambo
Akau Jambo is a South Sudanese stand-up comedian, and actor. He is the founder of Juba International Comedy Festival the first comedy festival in South Sudan. Akau Jambo is also a Co-Founder of Creative Central; a creative agency and social enterprise that harnesses the power the creative industries to bring about social behaviour change to ignite the socio-economic transformation of South Sudan. Akau is also a Mandela Washington Fellow, 2022 cohort.He speaks speaks to Shoshi and Jodi about comedy, visiting Boorloo for the Fringe festival and shares his hopes for comedians from the diaspora.This episode was recorded in February 2023.

We chat to South African-born artist Calvin Lok Thoo about his collaboration project with Peasant's Paradise. 'A unique art and food event that weaves the lines between 5 pieces of art, 5 identifiable generational stories and 5 plates of food.Lok is taking their visual interpretation of each story and putting it to paper and Peasants Paradice kitchen is bringing them to life through a unique sensory culinary experience.Expect each artwork and each dish to relate to each subject's story and their underlying translation of the culture surrounding African hair or "roots - follicles" as we know them.'

Aćol Agaar Apollo,better known by the stage name Pookie is a South Sudanese rapper, songwriter, composer and producer who was born in Nairobi, Kenya and migrated to Australia with her family at the age of seven. We chat to Western Edge's Nigerian-born actor, spoken word poet and playwright Amarachi Okorom about her upcoming trip to Nigeria to develop a script for her new project.
