Brandon decides to recap the horror films that has him feeling a bit obsessed and ended up stuck in the Backrooms. The 14th edition of the Kin & Kadence is hot off the press! Brandon & Zinzi take the time to mourn the loss of one of the greatest artist of our generation D’Angelo. The discussion goes into what the “Neo-soul” singer meant to the Duo as well as how he was able operate freely without the label. Then, it delves into how the church was integral to his artist development and how important the church is to the black music experience. The duo celebrate his life and his philosophy to artistry. The discussion develops into one about marrying authentic with fame and acclaim. Can you really be true to self and successful at the same time? Never fear! Lucky number 13 edition of the Kin & Kadence Podcast is here! Zinzi has an epiphany and launches a new movement to save our fellow sister from the state of being a “Man-Clown”. After her manifesto, the duo dive into a myriad of topics and media that have happened over the last two weeks. First, we discuss the dismissal of Drake lawsuit against UMG and how the unreasonable listeners are dealing with the fallout. Next, Doja Cat newest album Vie enraptured our attention. Brandon & Zinzi both exchange their opinions on the album and how references of era can live albums flat. Finally, Brandon gives his own review of Life of a Showgirl and how he views Swift in this current music ecosystem. She breaks it down from her perspective and what it felt like to be in the presence of a Dancehall Icon. From Icons to disgraced superstars, the generationally gapped Duo discuss the recent release of Young Thug’s jail calls. One phone call in particular describes the use of fake streams to become the number one in the Billboard 100. This call sparked a fire in Brandon, he reinforces his views on chart success today and the discourse around it. In danger of losing an ecosystem that is near and dear to all of us, we must protect and ensure that music outside of our algorithmic bubbles can grow and be sustainable.

Episode 8: Piercing the Veil (A Way Too Late Musical Sinners Review)
And we back! On this edition of the podcast, Zinzi after months and months of deliberating has finally watched Sinners! Her aversion to scary movies couldn’t keep her away from watching arguably one of the best movies of 2025.As someone who views as ‘essential viewing’ for any person, Brandon explains how it felt to watch the movies in theatres. One huge point from his explanation is how the music shown and portrayed in a movie led to him questioning his relationship with music. This point leaves the duo to ponder and debate on what the music in the movie is trying to tell you and the lessons you could take from it. This is a deep dive into art that pierces the barrier and allows any convos(good or bad) to come through.

Episode 7: Imaginary Players, Haters & Naysayers
Another week, another episode from K&K Duo. In this episode, Zinzi opens with a short and snappy review on the new Cardi B single. With renditions of the original intertwined with pros and cons, the duo anticipates her long awaited album. Onwards with more musical musings, the elder also discusses more new music she has gotten around to this year. The new Little Simz album Lotus drew the ire of Zinzi and the song thief in particular in which the Duo gives their support in the payments of debt. The main topic of this episode is that seemingly ever-growing Tyla controversy. Attributing low sales to non-existent cultural disrespect is what the Duo calls ‘asinine’ and ‘dumb’ conversation. The Duo still try to make sense of it however while calling for the end of another diaspora distraction from the art.

Brandon illuminates on how the show brought out him out of TV hell and Zinzi chimes in with her experiences as a seasoned TV watcher. What both younger and elder(slightly) agree upon on is the show’s critical acclaim and depiction of everyday work life. Join them as they regale you with their best moments and workplace stories. By the end, they discuss what the tech could mean further down the line and how dystopian the show and the world truly is.
