Welcome to the coop at KRFC studios where three poetic chickens cluck around with special guests, live events, poetry readings, and more.  One is a Poetry Slam Master.  One an anarchistic scholar.  And one a community weaver.  Together they bring a flock of poets from around the region for podcast listeners worldwide.

    Interview with the Loveland Poet Laureate Program

    The current and former poet laureates of Loveland, Colorado, visit the KRFC studios in Fort Collins (their neighbors to the north) for an intimate conversation about how they succeed in bringing poetry to their communities. Beth Lechleitner, the current poet laureate, along with Lynn Kincanon and Loveland's first laureate Veronica Patterson -- with the help from the Loveland Poet Laureate Program -- sharae how they are able to make their poetry community special.

    Interview with Crisosto Apache, Colorado Poet Laureate

    Crisosto Apache has been appointed the newest Poet Laureate for Colorado, becoming the first indigenous poet to be selected for that position. Co-Hosts Booger and Christine have an insightful conversation about Crisosto's background and the future of poetry in Colorado.A writer, poet, and educator, Crisosto shares about various works including GENESIS (Redacted) (Lost Alphabet, 2018), Ghostword (Gnashing Teeth Publishing, 2022), and is(ness) (Gnashing Teeth Publishing, 2025).

    Poetry In The Round

    For April and National Poetry Month, the co-hosts of Lip Chicken each brought a fellow poet into the KRFC studio for a poetry heavy episode. Thomas & Marcus If, Booger & Anna Bonjour, Christine & Melissa Mitchell, all went around 3 times in a circle laughing, sharing their poems, and having fun as a group of poets.

    Interview with cowboy poet George N Wallace

    Author of three books of poetry and essays about agriculture life in Northern Colorado, George Wallace came down from the ranch to share his poetry and stories with co-host Thomas Ivory Jr in the KRFC studios Fort Collins. George's unique use of cowboy language in poetry and song kept the conversation lively like being out on the open range. His poetry aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban folk by celebrating the outdoor work of raising food and fiber for all people. Most of George's poems are memorized and that gives him that fun cowboy style of delivering each poem as if for the first time, just for you!

    Interview with Dan Beachy-Quick

    Host Christine Hogg sits down with Dan Beachy-Quick, award-winning author and professor, to talk about his background, the field of translation, and his recent works including Wind-Mountain-Oak: The Poems of Sappho (Tupelo Press, 2023) and Elements & Offerings (LSU Press, 2026).

    Poetry Slam Follow-up Interview

    Following the Poetry Slam at the Neighbor in Fort Collins, co-hosts Thomas and Christine interview the nights shining artists: Slam-master Booger, the winner Hannah Cross, and one of the judges Willow Hall. They discuss the history of the slam, what poems did well in the competition, and what criteria it takes to get a high score. Lively banter ensued as the night was relived.

    Fort Collins Poetry Slam Live at The Neighbor: Final Rounds

    Presenters at the Fort Collins Poetry Slam at The Neighbor compete in the semi-final and final rounds. Judges will determine scores which will culminate in one poet being presented with the night's earnings.This recording of a live event contains profane language, sensitive materials and explicit content.

    Fort Collins Poetry Slam Live at The Neighbor: First Round

    Slamaster Booger introduces your to the opening round of spoken-word performance of the January 2026 Poetry Slam, at The Neighbor in Fort Collins. Presenters will be judged by a panel of judges to see which will advance to the semi-final round on the way to the final cash prize. This recording of a live event contains profane language, sensitive materials and explicit content. The final two rounds will follow in the next podcast where the final winner will be determined.

    Interview with post-beat poet Thom Peters Jr.

    Carrying on the legacy of the Beat Generation poets, Thom Peters Jr's use of experimentation and stream-of-consciousness in his poetry reflects on the styles famed by writers of the 1940s and 50s. Host of the "So You're A Poet..." weekly reading series, owner of the Beat Book Shop in Downtown Boulder, and life-long adventurer, Thom joins the other Tom in studio at KRFC as a friend and mentor to talk about the current state of poetry.

    Interview with Lorrie Wolfe: poet and community networker

    Booger interviews Lorrie Wolfe,  winner of the 2023  Fledge Award from Middle Creek Publications for her book, The Language of Crows. Lorrie manages a networking list, which connects poets with local events of interest and tells how get onto her contact list.

    Host Christine Hogg chats with local leaders Melissa Mitchell, Ally Eden, and Josie Taylor about the Fort Collins Poet Laureate program and the ekphrastic poetry workshop series that takes place at the Museum of Art Fort Collins.Brought together in the KRFC studio for their collective, creative, and community-centered work in Fort Collins, our guests warmly share about their past, recent, and upcoming projects which contribute to the health of the local creative scene.Be among the voices of the current Fort Collins Poet Laureate, Melissa Mitchell, the previous Fort Collins Poet Laureate, Ally Eden, and the MoA For All Manager, Josie Taylor, and listen at the end of the episode for information about upcoming events where you can join them in person.

    In-studio Interview with GuloGulo Community Members

    Guests Hannah Benson, Shaquan "Phoon" Harris, and Dan Van Horn visit the KRFC studio to discuss their involvement in GuloGulo's writing, editing, and performance practice they call the Journey of the Poem.

    Live Recording and Release of the 2025 GuloGulo Anthology

    Live at Wolverine Farm Publick House, the GuloGulo Poetry Collective releases their annual anthology and hosts a performance featuring published poets.  This year's editors, Booger and Phoon, emcee the event which is the culmination of the Journey of the Poem, a weekly practice for local writers.
