How to love a highly sensitive man (INFP/INFJ)
"Love is understanding. When we can understand someone better, we can love them better."How can we truly honor and support the highly sensitive man (HSP) in our life? In this special community-requested entry for Fred, we explore how to provide a sanctuary for the INFP/INFJ man to finally unmask and flourish.Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. Whether our partner appears typically masculine on the outside—like Fred, who is athletic yet easily moved to tears—or untypically masculine, his sensitivity is a profound gift. However, being wired differently in a world that demands "hardness" is exhausting. We are diving into the lived reality of the sensitive man, from the exhaustion of sensory overload to the truth that beauty is a biological need. Most importantly, we are here to affirm that he is not broken. Let's help him move from the ache of isolation toward a place of deep understanding, belonging, and peace.🕯 Join the Lightbearer’s Library Community 🕯 I am currently building a dedicated space for sensitive souls to connect, unmask, and move forward from isolation. The ‘strange’ things highly sensitive people notice (HSP/INFP)
Moving house as a highly sensitive person (HSP) means our brains are recording every new micro-detail—from the vibe of our new space to the strange reality of a high toilet!Hello dear soul, and welcome back to the Lightbearer's Library. For us INFPs and sensitive souls, moving into a new home is a beautiful transition, but it's also a massive sensory recalibration. From my new home in Southern Alberta, I’m sharing the "weird" things I’ve noticed—things that non-HSPs might find trivial and strange, but deeply affect our daily lives. In this journal entry, we explore:- The Sensory Shift: Why soft water and "bouncy" floors change how we feel in our bodies.- Environmental Rhythms: Getting used to the "vibe" of neighbors and new smells and sounds.- The Energetics of Space: Feeling the history and emotions left behind in a home.- A "Classic" INFJ Moving Story: A funny (and slightly painful) lesson on being present when things get stressful. As sensitive people, we process things so deeply that even the smallest change can be exhausting. If you’ve ever felt "too sensitive" for noticing the smell of a previous tenant’s laundry soap or the specific frequency of a neighbor’s vacuum—you aren't alone!✨ I’d love to hear from you: What is the "weirdest" micro-detail you’ve noticed in your home that others might think is trivial? Why life feels meaningless for idealists (INFP-INFJ-ENFP-ENFJ)
If your life feels meaningless right now, this journal entry is a clarifying guide for NF idealists to understand why having a deep purpose is as vital as the air we breathe.Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. As an NF idealist type (INFP, INFJ, ENFP, or ENFJ), we are hardwired for meaning, authenticity, and human potential. But what happens when our grand vision fails or our ideals get smashed to pieces? In this entry, I share the personal story of how my husband (INFJ) and I (INFP) are navigating existential depression after our dream for music education dissolved. This reflection was sparked by a conversation with John (INFJ) over at @RedemptivePsych , who shared a beautiful perspective on the disappointment of the idealist temperament. We explore why idealism and disappointment are two sides of the same coin and why we must keep the "coin spinning" to avoid falling into hopelessness. If you feel "empty" or "not fully alive," it’s time to rediscover a meaningful ideal that harmonizes with your soul. Whether it’s a small community act or a lifelong passion, finding your "why" is the key to moving from despair to a life full of light.✨ I would love to hear from you! When everything feels like too much (HSP/INFP)
If you feel like everything is too much lately—too intense, too chaotic, or even too exciting—you are not alone. In today's journal entry, we talk about that feeling of being saturated by overstimulation and how we can find our way back to peace through the concept of sanctuary.Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. For me, I'm dealing simultaneously with a big housing transition, while celebrating the 1,300 new souls who have joined the Library! We’ll walk through the three types of sanctuaries I believe we each need to cultivate.- The External: Create a physical environment that honors our sensitivity.- The Internal: Find a quiet space within through breath and affirmation.- The Communal: Nurture spaces, like our Library here, where we can share our experiences and listen to others with kindness.✨ What is one thing that makes a space feel like a sanctuary to you? Is it a specific song, a scent, or a way of breathing? I’d love to hear from you in the comments. Meet other highly sensitive men & women (INFP/INFJ)
Are you a highly sensitive soul looking for a place to finally belong? In this journal entry, I invite INFPs, INFJs, and fellow kindred spirits to explore the vision of creating a community where sensitive men and women can truly feel seen and heard in all their depth of heart, mind and soul.Hello, dear soul. After the overwhelming response to my recent journal entry on highly sensitive men, it’s clear there is a need for a space where we can share our highs and lows with one another, where we can inspire and encourage each other to grow relationally, emotionally, and intellectually.I envision an online community where we can gather for men’s and women's groups, perhaps a group for those looking for love, book clubs, and deep conversation on a variety of topics from philosophy and theology, to psychology and creativity, all while helping one another spiral upwards from isolation toward hope.Thank you for being here, your presence is a blessing to me and all 'our people'! ✨ I’d love to know—would a dedicated community space like this resonate with you? The dangerous story sensitive souls tell themselves about failure (INFP/HSP)
This journal entry explores how to overcome the dangerous stories we tell ourselves about failure by embracing a more natural, cyclical way of viewing our lives.Hello kindred spirit, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. As INFPs and HSPs, we are gifted storytellers, but sometimes the stories we tell ourselves when we're in seasons of despair are simply not true. In this entry, I share a personal reflection on the feeling of falling behind, and the pressure to keep up a constant, upward trajectory of success, especially as we get older. We dive into why the expectation that life should always be a straight line of progress is a romantic fiction that makes our natural seasons of rest feel like permanent failure. Why expert advice makes you feel like a failure (INFP/HSP)
Are you a sensitive soul who feels like a failure because you’re exhausted by following everyone’s advice but your own? This journal entry is a guide to identifying the loud voices of the superego and modern experts so you can finally hear your own soul’s compass.Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. In this entry, I’m sharing a very personal part of my journey—the struggle of feeling like my life is a failure while living in a basement suite in my 40s. Facing a sudden deadline to move with no clear path forward has led me to reflect on why it’s so tempting to look outside of ourselves for the answers. We often develop an addiction to expert advice, hoping a book, a blog, or a video will tell us how to live better or feel safer. But for INFPs and HSPs, this constant noise often leads to paralysis. Why you don’t 'owe' the world your empathy (INFP/HSP)
If you are a sensitive soul feeling completely exhausted by the world's pain, you're not alone. This journal entry is a compassionate guide for INFPs and HSPs to reclaim their energy by realizing they don't owe their limited emotional resources to every news feed.Hello, dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. As sensitive INFPs and INFJs, we often fall into the "empathy trap," acting like a sponge for global trauma and horror until we are left feeling depleted. In this entry, I share why empathy can be a finite resource and how "witnessing" everything can actually be a form of energetic self-harm.Are you ready to protect your precious energy? We explore practical ways to shield our energetic body, like using "plexiglass" visualizations, so we can save our empathy for the people in our lives who can actually benefit from it. By turning off the feed and unsubscribing from fear, we create space for love, peace and well-being to flourish.✨ I’m curious, have you ever felt guilty for turning off the news?Next ▶️If you are struggling with the pressure to stay "informed" at the cost of your peace, this video will help you to turn off the feed: "Why being "informed" is blocking your intuition" (https://youtu.be/cDIOJQABG3g)XOXO,Kate Harmony 📖 Journal Notes0:00 Why we don't owe the world our empathy1:00 Empathy as a limited resource for HSPs1:50 The drain of headlines and news stories2:30 Breaking the addiction to doom scrolling2:49 Saving energy for the people in our lives3:42 Send out love and peace energetically4:43 Overcoming the guilt of turning off the feed6:09 Shielding our energetic body7:03 Using plexiglass and light for protection8:40 Being informed can be a form of self-harm9:02 I'd love to cheer you on!#infp #hsp #empathy #lightbearerslibrary #introvert #journaling #introvertdiaries #infj #empath #boundaries #selfcare #mentalhealth #sensitiveperson #energyprotection #mbti #healingjourney #innerpeace #overwhelmrelief #digitaldetox 🌿 About Kate Harmony 🌿My main channel (Hack Music Theory) has over 250K subscribers and 10 million views. Encouragement for dark times (INFP/HSP)
Why is faith the most courageous act you can take, especially for sensitive souls (INFP/HSP)? In a world that often feels dark and chaotic, choosing a hopeful vision isn't passive—it’s an act of profound ancient courage.Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. In this journal entry, I’m in a "biblical mood"! I’m looking to the ancient wisdom found in the New Testament book of Hebrews for strength, even as someone who doesn't subscribe to doctrinal Christianity. If you are a sensitive person feeling the weight of anxiety, fear, or hopelessness, this video is your invitation to step into a brighter vision of the future. We’ll explore the "art of being kind" through the poetry of Ella Wheeler Wilcox and dive into my favorite definition of faith from Hebrews 11:1. Faith isn't about what we see with our eyes—the chaos and noise—it’s about the courage to be convinced of the beauty we do not yet see.I hope this encourages you to take the smallest step of courage today. Why you suck at digital communication (and why it's not your fault)
If you feel like you “suck” at digital communication, the truth is that your sensitive INFP or INFJ soul is simply mismatched with an inhuman, machine-driven world.Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. When our phones feel like a ball and chain, and notifications trigger dread, it’s easy to blame ourselves for being "bad" at texting or email. In this journal entry, we explore why our communication problems are actually a systemic issue, not a personal failure. We are built for deep, soul-to-soul connection. The kind that includes eye contact, shared silences, and the energy of being in the same room. Digital tools strip away 90% of what we need to feel safe and authentic.Instead of striving to be "better" at digital communication, I’m calling on us to prioritize in-person connection, which will help us to flourish as human souls. You aren't broken. Finding stillness in a shifting world (INFP/HSP)
Discover how to anchor your sensitive soul through internal goals and a clear future vision to escape the disorienting "shifting sand" of today’s world.Hello dear soul and welcome back to the Lightbearer's Library. If you feel discombobulated by the rapid pace of change in technology and politics, you are not alone. In this journal entry, I explore how we can find stability by shifting our focus from external chaos to what is truly within our control. So instead of setting “outer goals” that require relative stability, we set "inner goals". This could look like mastering emotional equanimity or creative goals like writing. For INFPs and HSPs, having a clear vision for the future is vital. It helps us to pull our minds back from anxiety and stay focused on a purposeful path. We can plant seeds for a future that feels stable and bright inside, no matter what is happening outside.✨ What is one internal goal or vision you are currently aiming at? Your mind is a playlist. Overwrite the self-doubt tracks (INFP/INFJ)
Have you noticed your mind has negative tracks it likes to play over and over again? It’s time to overcome self-doubt and anxiety by treating our minds like an old-school mixtape or a modern playlist. Our inner idealist causes suffering (INFP/INFJ)
Our beautiful idealist nature, as an INFP (or INFJ) soul, can actually be the source of our deepest suffering. Hello dear soul, and welcome to the Lightbearer's Library. As sensitive souls, we experience pain (loss, rejection, exhaustion) deeply. However, the intense emotional burden we feel comes not from the pain itself, but from our internal resistance to reality—the clash with our ideals. We idealists often fight against “what is,” which only serves to multiply our discomfort. This journal entry breaks down the simple equation Pain x Resistance = Suffering, showing you exactly where your control lies. We can't control the painful events, but we can learn the practice of acceptance to reduce the resistance variable. When we bravely choose not to let the negative thoughts spiral downwards, we start to master our inner world. And in this way we can hopefully spiral upwards towards more peace, happiness, and health! ✨ If, like me, you felt like this equation was a mini revelation, let me know in the comments! Physically overstimulated? Do this first. (HSP/INFP)
Are you a highly sensitive person (HSP) or INFP feeling the intensity of too much input? This journal entry reveals the simple first step to stop the overstimulation and find calm.Dear sensitive soul, overstimulation is that feeling when layer upon layer of different stressors pile up. From relentless noise and frantic energy, to major life concerns like moving and a looming to-do list. When our physical bodies are tense, and our mind is racing, it's easy to get caught in the cycle of overwhelm and forget that our physical well-being comes first. Our tendency can be to push through, but we can't be productive when our nervous systems are all over the place. So the solution starts with calming down our physical bodies by focusing on our breathing, drinking a glass of water, taking a nap or even going pee! Then from this grounded state we can recenter ourselves and take the rest of the day one moment at a time.✨ In the comments below, please share one simple thing you do first when you realize you are starting to feel overstimulated.Next ▶️If you've stabilized your physical body, this episode will help you address the emotional side of overwhelm and find inner calm: "Emotionally overwhelmed? The real reason you hide your true self
Dear precious soul, the real reason you hide your true self and don’t show up authentically in the world is simpler and bigger than you think: it all comes down to one ultimate fear.Have you ever wondered why you struggle to show up as your unique "soul self" in relationships? We often trace our hiding back to past judgment or social media pressures, creating a 'persona' or mask. But what if all those surface reasons are hiding a deeper reason? In this journal entry, I share my current thesis: our constant need for conditional love and security (in relationships, money, status) is a fear of death in disguise. We’re afraid that showing our true self will jeopardize our safety net. This is the real reason we hide. When we find the courage to reveal ourselves, we realize the only thing we have to lose is conditional relationships, which are probably not worth hiding our eternal souls.Next ▶️ This next journal entry will help you separate your true self from the fear-based voices that keep you small: "The Voice in Your Head is NOT Yours" (https://youtu.be/X4J9L3HhQmY).✨ The masks we wear to fit in can feel safer than our true self. The Voice in Your Head is NOT Yours
When the negative voice in our head sounds exactly like us, it is easy to believe the lies, but this journal entry reveals the truth: the inner critic is not our soul speaking, it's a saboteur.Dear soul, are you tired of internal sabotage and destructive self-doubt holding you back? Then the first step to overcoming negative self-talk is to recognize that the inner critic is a separate force.I share three practical steps to help us externalize negative thoughts and stop listening to the liar within.1. Give the negative voice a name (the Liar, the Whisperer, the Saboteur, etc.)2. Write down the negative thoughts to make them tangible3. Lastly, refute the lies using objective facts and past successesThe secret to a more positive mind is consistency. Let's practice this daily to recenter ourselves and to learn to listen to our true soul voice.✨ What name are you choosing to give this negative voice? Why a non-Christian read the whole Bible
As a non-Christian, I challenged myself to read the entire Bible from cover to cover, and what I found confirmed a powerful truth about human nature. This journal entry reveals why I undertook the daunting challenge of reading the foundational text of a complicated and nuanced religion. It was a quest to connect with history and my English, Scottish, and Irish ancestors, whose lives were deeply rooted in Christianity.I share how this off-screen challenge helped me reclaim my focus and perseverance. Most profoundly, exploring this ancient text forced me to think deeply about the big questions in life. Who am I? What is reality? Why is there evil and suffering in the world?I realized that as humans, we are not as evolved as we think; this deep, historical truth ultimately levels the playing field for us all. Dear soul, if you are seeking an empathetic and authentic reflection on why you might want to challenge yourself to read the Bible, I hope my journey offers you some useful insights.✨ I'm curious: have you ever considered reading the whole Bible?XOXO,Kate Harmony 📖 Journal Notes0:00 Welcome to the Lightbearer's Library0:20 Connecting with history and a complicated nuanced past1:18 The truth the bible confirmed about human nature2:08 Ancestral connection and family history3:11 The challenge of reading big books and building focused attention5:34 What reading the entire bible made me question6:34 Beautiful and disturbing7:16 The translation I read: New English Translation Bible (NET)8:26 When should someone read the whole Bible?#bible #nonchristian #philosophy #personalgrowth #spiritualjourney #biblereading #bookchallenge #history #selfdiscovery #meaningfullife #christianity #bigquestions #infp #lightbearerslibrary #journaling #introvertdiaries 🌿 About Kate Harmony 🌿My main channel (Hack Music Theory) has over 250K subscribers and 10 million views. Calm emotional overwhelm with imaginative play (HSP/INFP)
Dear soul, when emotional overwhelm floods us, it can be unreliable to depend on tangible comforts such as loved ones, favourite places and familiar things. So how can we find a portable peace that is always available? In this journal entry, I share a practice of imaginative play that will help INFPs and/or highly sensitive persons (HSP) build intangible comforts that truly soothe our nervous systems and minds.I talk about two different imagination practices to help us find calm:- Building a Portable Inner Sanctuary: Use our imaginations to construct a detailed, sensory-rich inner place (like my Secret Garden) where we can instantly retreat and find grounding.- Create Invisible Armor: Practice visualization to build a protective bubble of light around us that calms our inner child. This serves as an effective mental barrier against outside chaos.✨ What comforting imaginative place are you going to create inside your mind? Journal to recover from emotional overwhelm (HSP/INFP)
Dear soul, if a wave of emotional overwhelm hits you like it did for me yesterday, this 3-step journaling process can help you recover your peace and get back on your feet.As a highly sensitive person (HSP) and/or INFP, being caught in a swirl of anxieties, fears, and negative thoughts can feel like drowning in mental chaos. In this journal entry, I walk you through the simple journaling method I used to move through panic and find calm. This process will help you recover by focusing on these practical steps:- Step 1: The Admission. Write a "stream of consciousness" to release all your fears, worries and negative thoughts.- Step 2: The Reorientation. Find equilibrium by asking yourself what positives exist and what past challenges you've overcome.- Step 3: The Action Plan. Convert clarity into momentum by setting one small, easy action to take immediately.✨ I believe in you! What is one small, easy thing you can do today to shift or change your situation? Share it in the comments below so I can cheer you on!Next ▶️ If you want a broader look at how to recover from emotional overwhelm beyond the journaling practice, listen to my previous episode, Emotionally overwhelmed?
