Final Crisis - Ep. 33
Here at Long Comics Bookclub we try and read books that are standalone, that can be enjoyed without any prior knowledge making them accessible to all. Unfortunately for me, April Fools day is around the corner."Final Crisis" was intended to reboot the DC Universe by having all of the different heroes, villains, alternative universes, and whatever else falls within cannon come together for a grand event. For the first half of the show we navigate "Final Crisis" and try to make sense of this phantasmagoria of all things DC, while trying to keep our sanity intact. For the second half of the show we have recommendations for some crossover events that are a little bit more palatable for the everyday reader/viewer.--------------------------------6:46 Final Crisis discussion48:40 Some of our Favourite Crossovers1:00:30 Introducing the next read: 20th Century Boys--------------------------------Explore our LinkTree for a list of all our socials.Follow our Instagram or Bluesky and drop a comment to let us know your thoughts!Join the Discord to be part of the conversation!Subscribe to our Youtube channel for shorts and clips from the episodes.Check out Vesperia Manga and Comics for all your Long Comic needs.--------------------------------Intro and Exit "Yours Today!" by Lexx Strange is licensed under a Creative Commons License.

Steel Ball Run (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Volume 7) - Ep. 30
Happy Lunar New Year! To celebrate the year of the horse we are back with a bonus episode of horse-related content. "Steel Ball Run" is Volume 7 of the famous JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series and is the story of an American transcontinental horse race (well for most of the racers) set in 1890. Spence is a JoJo fanboy, but I've only watched Season 1. Supposedly, you can dive into Steel Ball Run with no JoJo experience but is that true? Listen now to find out!To round out our horse-themed episode we also talk about the anime "Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray" aka. the one where real Japanese horses are portrayed as cute anime girls. Has the world gone mad, or is this a race worth watching? My audio was crazy this episode. I did my best to fix it, but will be making some changes for next episode!--------------------------------6:53 Steel Ball Run bookclub discussion46:51 Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray conversation1:01:07 Introducing the next read: Coming Back by Jessi Zabarsky--------------------------------Explore our LinkTree for a list of all our socials.Follow our Instagram or Bluesky and drop a comment to let us know your thoughts!Join the Discord to be part of the conversation!Subscribe to our Youtube channel for shorts and clips from the episodes.Check out Vesperia Manga and Comics for all your Long Comic needs.--------------------------------Intro and Exit "Yours Today!" by Lexx Strange is licensed under a Creative Commons License.

Emma the manga, not the Jane Austen novel - Ep. 29
Happy Valentine's Day! To celebrate this occasion we have decided to mark it with a romance story, and today that is "Emma" by Kaoru Mori. This love story of a maid and a merchant is NOT inspired by the Jane Austen novel despite sharing the same namesake, the same genre, same vibes. First half of the show we talk about Emma the manga as our long comic for the book club, and second half of the show we discuss the anime adaptation. We'll also talk about some ACTUAL classic literature pieces that got adapted into manga/anime.And, no spoilers, but my brain hasn't broken this hard since we had a boxing kangaroo and a flying bear.--------------------------------5:34 Emma the manga bookclub discussion37:14 Emma the anime comments44:37 Is Emma the manga based on the Jane Austen novel?51:20 Classic literature that has been adapted to anime1:01:45 Introducing the next read: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Volume 7 - Steel Ball Run--------------------------------Explore our LinkTree for a list of all our socials.Follow our Instagram or Bluesky and drop a comment to let us know your thoughts!Join the Discord to be part of the conversation!Subscribe to our Youtube channel for shorts and clips from the episodes.Check out Vesperia Manga and Comics for all your Long Comic needs.--------------------------------Intro and Exit "Yours Today!" by Lexx Strange is licensed under a Creative Commons License.

Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man 22 - 26 - Ep.27
This episode of the podcast is almost as long as the title of the Long Comic we're talking about! Tatsuki Fujimoto may be the greatest mangaka (manga author/illustrator) of the past decade with his popular works "Chainsaw Man" and "Fire Punch". But we're not talking about those today! Instead, we're taking a look at an anthology series of four series written while Fujimoto was between the ages of 22 - 26 (how old he is now is anyone's guess). We talk about the manga, the anime adaptation that just came out, as well as "Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc". It's an Tatsuki Fujimoto spectacular this week on the pod!--------------------------------4:35 Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man 22 - 26 discussion59:15 Anime adaptation and Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc1:20:35 Introducing the next read: Absolute Wonderwoman--------------------------------Explore our LinkTree for a list of all our socials.Follow our Instagram or Bluesky and drop a comment to let us know your thoughts!Join the Discord to be part of the conversation!Subscribe to our Youtube channel for shorts and clips from the episodes.Check out Vesperia Manga and Comics for all your Long Comic needs.--------------------------------Intro and Exit "Yours Today!" by Lexx Strange is licensed under a Creative Commons License.

The Hedge Knight aka. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - Ep. 26
George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" series is considered one of the greatest fantasy worlds of all time by many (this is the books, not the movies, chill out). But did you know that he also wrote a series of novellas about Dunk and Egg? The first of which was adapted into a graphic novel: "The Hedge Knight". This soon to be HBO series follows Dunk the Lunk as he sets out to earn valour and repute as a knight of the seven kingdoms. Text dense, this direct adaptation is true to the source material, but how does that fit within the GRRMU (George R. R. Martin Universe)? Listen along to hear reflections on the Long Comics, the upcoming HBO series, the books, and the infamous TV show. It's off to Westeros for these brothers!--------------------------------5:15 "The Hedge Knight" discussion41:17 Game of Thrones (House of Dragon, books, tv series)1:02:03 Introducing the next read - Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22 - 26--------------------------------Explore our LinkTree for a list of all our socials.Follow our Instagram or Bluesky and drop a comment to let us know your thoughts!Join the Discord to be part of the conversation!Subscribe to our Youtube channel for shorts and clips from the episodes.Check out Vesperia Manga and Comics for all your Long Comic needs.--------------------------------Intro and Exit "Yours Today!" by Lexx Strange is licensed under a Creative Commons License.
