Survival Mode: What Happens When You Finally Don't Have to Hustle Anymore
Send us Fan MailI Googled something last week that I'm mildly embarrassed to admit: "what do people actually do when they're not stressed?"And here's the wild part. I garden, I read, I hit 10,000 steps a day, and I've run 23 marathons. By every external measure, I'm someone who takes care of herself. And I still felt like I had no idea how to actually rest.In this episode of Midlife Reset, I'm getting honest about what happens when you've spent your entire adult life in survival mode, always working two jobs, always hustling, always carrying something, and then life shifts and suddenly you don't have to anymore. If you're an overachiever who built her entire identity around productivity, you know the feeling: the moment things slow down, your nervous system panics. Rest feels risky. Quiet feels suspicious. And stopping, even for a week, feels like it could cost you everything. This episode is for the women who grew up knowing what it meant to have nothing, who learned to hustle not because it was trendy but because the alternative was terrifying. And it's for anyone who has ever wondered: who am I when I'm not just surviving? In this episode we talk about:— Why overachiever burnout doesn't look like doing nothing (and why rest can actually feel unsafe)— How survival mode rewires your nervous system around constant urgency— What happens when you turn things you love into a brand, and lose the joy of them— The difference between ambition and chaos with a calendar— Learning to want things for yourself again, not for the algorithm"Rest isn't the opposite of ambition. It's just ambition without an audience." — Jama PantelIf this episode hit home, share it with someone who's carrying more than anyone around them realizes.Follow Midlife Reset with Jama Pantel wherever you listen to podcasts.Midlife Reset with Jama Pantel is a podcast for women who have always had it together… and suddenly feel like something is off.If you’re in your 40s and noticing shifts in your body, your energy, or your identity, this podcast helps you make sense of what’s happening and figure out how to move forward in a way that actually feels like you again.New episodes released weekly.Follow Midlife Reset with Jama Pantel so you don’t miss what’s next.https://www.jamapantel.com

Why You Feel Fine One Week… and Completely Off the Next
Send us Fan MailLast week I was exhausted… couldn’t recover, couldn’t sleep, everything felt off. This week? Energy is back, workouts feel strong… and then I hurt my back moving weights around at the gym.So yeah… how do you make sense of that?If you’ve ever felt completely off one week and totally fine the next, this episode is for you.In this episode, I’m talking about something that doesn’t get explained enough… how inconsistent everything can feel in midlife. From low energy and poor recovery to suddenly feeling strong again, it’s not always a steady pattern you can “fix.”I share what this has looked like for me in real time, including a week of exhaustion, a bounce back into feeling normal again, and then hurting my back doing something as simple as moving weights around at the gym. We’re also talking about how tools like Garmin can reflect what’s happening in your body, even if they’re not perfect, and how metrics like sleep score, HRV, and recovery can line up with how you actually feel. This episode is about learning to recognize the difference between something being broken and something fluctuating… and how that changes the way you approach your body, your workouts, and your expectations. If you’ve ever thought, “why does my body feel different week to week?” this episode will help you make sense of it.WHAT WE TALK ABOUT– Feeling exhausted one week and completely normal the next– The frustration of not knowing what changed– Why inconsistency is harder than being “off” all the time– Workouts feeling heavy vs suddenly strong again– Real-time example: hurting my back moving weights (not lifting)– Why setbacks don’t always mean something is wrong– Running and workout inconsistency – The “oldest daughter control” mindset and wanting to fix it– Garmin data: sleep score, HRV, and recovery patterns– Feeling “unproductive” for the first time ever – Dexa scan vs day-to-day experience – The shift: broken vs fluctuating – Why your body doesn’t follow a predictable pattern anymore – Reframing inconsistency in midlifeKEY TAKEAWAYSFeeling good one week and off the next is common in midlifeInconsistency can be more frustrating than constant fatigueYour body is not broken, it’s fluctuatingData tools like Garmin can reflect patterns, even if they aren’t perfectSetbacks don’t always mean you did something wrongAwareness matters more than control in this phaseMidlife Reset with Jama Pantel is a podcast for women who have always had it together… and suddenly feel like something is off.If you’re in your 40s and noticing shifts in your body, your energy, or your identity, this podcast helps you make sense of what’s happening and figure out how to move forward in a way that actually feels like you again.New episodes released weekly.Follow Midlife Reset with Jama Pantel so you don’t miss what’s next.https://www.jamapantel.com

It's Never About the Finish Line: It’s About Who You Become Along the Way
Send us Fan MailIt’s Never About the Finish Line: It’s About Who You Become Along the WayIn this final episode of Brand Building: Living the Whole Picture, Jama closes the chapter she began exactly one year ago — on her 47th birthday. What started as a hopeful project to grow her business became something entirely different: a year-long journey of identity, honesty, and transformation. Instead of gaining clarity about her business, she gained clarity about herself. Instead of growing an audience, she grew a new kind of strength. And instead of finding answers, she found peace in not knowing them.In this raw, unedited, voice-memo–style episode, Jama shares the truth she discovered:You don’t podcast, run, or stay consistent to reach a finish line. You do it to become someone you recognize — someone you trust. This episode is a birthday letter to the woman she was at 47… and the woman she’s becoming at 48.If you’ve ever closed a chapter without knowing what the next one will be, or if you’ve ever felt yourself changing faster than your life can keep up with, this episode will meet you exactly where you are.In this episode, Jama reflects on:• Why consistency doesn’t always equal growth• Letting go of the identity she built inside her business• The surprising simplicity of podcasting once she began• The strength she discovered just by showing up• Choosing peace and space over performance and output• Permission to not know what comes nextThis isn’t a goodbye. It’s a letting go.A finish line that was never the point.A moment to honor who she became along the way.KEY TAKEAWAYSNot every chapter is meant to transform your business, some transform you.You are allowed to walk away from the identity you built when it no longer fits.Consistency doesn’t always lead to growth; sometimes it leads to clarity. You don’t need to know what’s next to be on the right path. The finish line is never the point. Spoiler alert, it’s not. Motivation is fleeting, and the people who keep showing up aren’t running on inspiration; they’re fueled by trust, discipline, and small daily habits that build momentum.Jama shares personal stories from marathon training, business building, and everyday life to show how consistency beats motivation every single time. If you’ve been waiting to “feel ready” before starting something, this episode will remind you that the feeling you’re looking for comes after you take action, not before. In this episode, you’ll learn:Why waiting for motivation keeps you stuckHow discipline is really self-respect in motionThe difference between momentum and motivationWhy imperfect action always beats perfect planningHow to rebuild trust with yourself through consistencyTimestamps:– Hook: When motivation disappears and discipline steps in – Why motivation can’t be trusted to stay– Jama’s story of showing up on the hard days– The link between discipline and self-respect– Momentum vs. motivation — what really drives results– Practical ways to move even when you don’t feel like it– Closing reflection: build momentum, not excusesKey Takeaways:Motivation gets you started, but momentum keeps you going.Consistency isn’t about perfection, it’s about showing up, especially when you don’t feel like it.Self-trust is built one small promise at a time. You don’t need to wait until you’re ready; action creates readiness.Motivation is temporary, but resilience lasts.Closing Note:Stop chasing motivation and start building momentum. She shares her personal story of moving beyond the identity that defined her for years, the photographer, the creative, the one everyone counted on to show up in a certain way, and how she’s learning to honor who she’s becoming. If you’ve ever felt torn between holding on and letting go, or wondered why change can feel so lonely even when it’s good, this episode is for you. It’s an honest look at growth, identity, and the quiet courage it takes to rewrite your story in real time.Timestamps: – Hook: The moment you realize the world still sees the old you– Why evolving feels lonely (and why that’s normal)– Jama’s personal story of shifting identity– The discomfort others feel when you start changing– Learning to stay steady in the in-between– Outgrowing your old self with grace– Closing reflections on reinvention and self-trustKey Takeaways:Growth can make others uncomfortable, and that’s okay.Outgrowing who you were isn’t betrayal; it’s honoring your next evolution. The gap between the old and new versions of you is where true transformation happens. You don’t owe anyone the same version of yourself forever. The people meant for your next chapter will recognize the new you, even before you fully do.Closing Note:If you’re standing in that in-between, where you feel yourself shifting but can’t quite explain it, trust that you’re not lost, you’re becoming. This is what growth looks like in real time.CTA:If this episode spoke to you, share it with a friend who’s reinventing herself, too. Self-Care and Sustainable Brand Building: Why Slowing Down Is Strategic
Send us Fan MailWhy Slowing Down Is Strategic: Self-Care and Sustainable Brand BuildingDescription:If you’ve ever felt guilty for taking a break, even when you know you need one, this episode is for you. She shares what self-care actually looks like for real women building real brands, and why rest isn’t just restorative, it’s a business decision.Because brand building isn’t just about what the world sees. Love, Loss and Learning : Reflections on the World Events
Send us Fan MailSome moments change us forever. Standing beneath the Twin Towers as a college student in 1999, I couldn't have imagined how those buildings would come to symbolize both our national trauma and our capacity for unity just two years later. The anniversary of 9/11 prompted me to record these unplanned reflections about what we've gained and lost since that day when Americans briefly set aside their differences to grieve together. Working in Texas politics taught me that survival depends on finding common ground with those who think differently. You learn quickly that disagreement doesn't have to mean division—that you can build something meaningful together even when you don't see eye-to-eye on everything. But something has shifted in our society. Where did we lose the ability to disagree peacefully? When did differences become dangerous? Growing up in small-town Texas where kids kept guns in their trucks at school without incident feels worlds away from today's landscape of political violence and school shootings. Fear has replaced trust. Labels have replaced humanity. And I wonder how we find our way back.I don't have all the answers, but I believe the path forward requires more courage, more honest conversations, and more willingness to see each other as people first—not as the letter behind a name or the title on a business card. True understanding comes not from books but from lived experiences that teach us humanity. Even through my hardest times, including homelessness, love has sustained me. And love—for family, friends, and even those who challenge us—might be what saves us yet.Join me in this moment of reflection as we remember not just what we lost on 9/11, but what we briefly found: our shared humanity.Midlife Reset with Jama Pantel is a podcast for women who have always had it together… and suddenly feel like something is off.If you’re in your 40s and noticing shifts in your body, your energy, or your identity, this podcast helps you make sense of what’s happening and figure out how to move forward in a way that actually feels like you again.New episodes released weekly.Follow Midlife Reset with Jama Pantel so you don’t miss what’s next.https://www.jamapantel.com
