In Zimbabwe, virginity is more than a piece of tissue covering the vaginal opening (aka hymen) but it is deeply enrooted in our cultural practises like bride price (mombe yechimanda). However, I view this as a way to exert patriarchy and mask it with scientific ignorance. Here are my thoughts on the issues of virginity in Zimbabwe.
