Interrupted by: Cutting Ties, Breaking the Cycle and Protecting Your Peace (Toxic Family Edition)

In this raw and unfiltered episode, we’re diving into one of the hardest conversations to have—what it really looks like to deal with toxic family relationships. From verbal and emotional abuse to guilt, obligation, and the pressure to “keep the peace,” we’re laying it all out and saying the things many people are afraid to admit out loud. We talk about the reality of setting boundaries, the difference between protecting your peace and cutting people off, and why extended family dynamics can be just as complicated—especially when relationships are rooted more in obligation than genuine connection. This conversation also explores the emotional toll these relationships take over time, the breaking point that forces change, and the grief, doubt, and even loneliness that can come with walking away. But on the other side of that, we also talk about peace, clarity, and the power of choosing yourself. As moms, we reflect on what it means to break generational cycles and create a healthier, safer environment for our kids—proving that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is set boundaries, even with family.

    Interrupted by: A Softer Season

Spring is here, and everywhere we turn we’re told it’s time to refresh, reset, and reorganize. But in this episode of Mom, Interrupted, we’re not talking about closets, storage bins, or color-coded pantries. We’re talking about spring cleaning our lives. This week we dive into the invisible clutter moms carry — the expectations, guilt, and comparison that quietly pile up over time. Together we unpack the pressure to “do it all” in a new season, talk honestly about winter burnout, and challenge the never-ending mental “should list.”We also share small, realistic micro-habits that can help reset your energy without completely overhauling your routine. And because no episode is complete without a little fun, Jennifer completely surprises Ely with one of the biggest “hard launches” she’s had in a while, leading to a moment that Ely definitely did not see coming. In this episode we talk about:What moms actually need to declutter (hint: it’s not your house)Tossing the unrealistic seasonal “should list”Letting go of winter burnoutMicro-habits that can gently reset your energyMom confessions about what we’re NOT doing this springIf you’re entering spring feeling more exhausted than refreshed, this episode is your reminder that a new season doesn’t have to mean doing more — sometimes it just means letting go of what you were never meant to carry.

Interrupted by: Valentines for the Galentines (with Special Guest)

This Galentine’s Day episode is a reminder that love doesn’t only show up in heart-shaped boxes or grand gestures. Joined by Ely’s sister-in-law and friend, Alyssa, we’re talking about the kind of love that quietly carries us through motherhood—friendship, connection, and feeling truly seen in this season of life.We reflect on how friendships change after becoming moms, why adult connection matters more than ever, and how Galentine’s Day gives us permission to celebrate the people who show up in small but meaningful ways. We also get honest about Valentine’s Day expectations with our partners, how those expectations evolve after kids, and what feeling loved actually looks like right now. This episode isn’t about doing Valentine’s “right.” It’s about releasing pressure, leaning into connection, and reminding ourselves that love exists in many forms—romantic, platonic, and everything in between. If you’ve been craving community, understanding, or just a reminder that you’re not alone, this conversation is for you.

Interrupted by: When Every Day Feels the Same (A Groundhogs Day Special)

In this episode, we’re talking about the Groundhog Day feeling of motherhood—the days that blur together, the routines that keep us going but sometimes leave us feeling stuck on autopilot. If your life lately feels like the same wake-ups, the same responsibilities, and the same mental load on repeat… you’re not alone. This solo episode is a gentle reminder that while routine is necessary, moms are human too—and we deserve breaks, softness, and moments that feel new again. We unpack why routine can start to feel heavy, normalize burnout with relatable stats and real talk, and share simple, no-pressure ways to interrupt the monotony—both for yourself and with your kids. This isn’t about overhauling your life or adding more to your plate. It’s about small shifts, tiny pauses, and giving yourself permission to rest—even in the middle of the life you love.If you’ve been surviving instead of feeling present, this episode is your reminder: you matter too.

Interrupted by: Ely's Giggles & Technical Difficulties

This week’s episode is part reflection, part reset, and part encouragement for moms who may be feeling a little lost this January. We’re talking about the identity shift that happens in motherhood — how easy it is to lose pieces of yourself while trying to be everything for everyone else. We open up about the guilt of missing who you used to be, the pressure to “do it all,” and why those feelings don’t mean you’re failing — they mean you’re human. From there, we check in on how January is really going. The burnout, the comparison, the perfectionism, and that constant feeling of being behind. We remind you that struggling mid-month doesn’t mean the year is ruined. We also dive into the power of small wins and why they create a bigger impact than drastic change ever could. Adjusting expectations isn’t quitting — it’s listening to your real life. Progress counts. Rest counts. Starting again counts. This conversation won’t be the last time we talk about identity and motherhood — it’s a big, ongoing journey — but our hope is that this episode makes you feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that you’re allowed to start small and move at your own pace.

    Interrupted by: Fantasy vs Reality

In this episode, we’re talking about the difference between the fantasy we’re sold through books, movies, and TV—and the reality of what intimacy, desire, and connection can actually look like in real life. We start by reflecting on how we first learned about sex (or didn’t), and how much of that education came from media rather than real conversations. From there, we unpack how unrealistic storylines, romance tropes, and modern-day media can quietly shape expectations around relationships, intimacy, and even ourselves—and what can happen when fantasy starts setting the standard. We talk honestly about comparison, pressure, disappointment, and the importance of separating entertainment from real-life connection. This conversation is just the beginning. This topic is broad, layered, and deeply relevant, and it definitely won’t be the last time we talk about it. We’ll be revisiting it in future episodes as we continue to explore how media influences relationships, intimacy, and expectations in this season of life. While this episode touches on relationships and marriage, it’s not just for couples. It’s for any mom who’s ever consumed media and thought, “Is it just me?”—and needed to hear something honest, grounding, and relatable.

Interrupted by: New Year. New Resolutions.

In this New Year’s resolutions episode, we’re checking in honestly and throwing out the pressure that usually comes with “new year, new you.” Instead of unrealistic goals and all-or-nothing thinking, we’re talking about what it actually looks like to set intentions in the middle of real mom life — interruptions, exhaustion, and all. This conversation is less about fixing ourselves and more about offering grace, choosing sustainability over perfection, and redefining what success looks like in this season. We talk through common struggles moms face in January — comparison, burnout, feeling behind — and share practical ways to reset without guilt. If you’re heading into the new year craving encouragement, permission to go slow, and reminders that small wins truly matter, this episode is for you. Because life will interrupt our plans… and that doesn’t mean we’re failing — it means we’re human.

    Interrupted by: "Yackin' and Wrappin'!"

This one’s a big one — our longest episode to date — and honestly? It felt a lot like a therapy session. For us and hopefully for you too. Before the Christmas break madness officially kicks in, we wanted to slow things down and check in. This episode is all about yackin’, wrapping, and really talking through how the holiday season is landing on us as moms — the excitement, the overwhelm, the pressure, and everything in between. We’re holding space for honest conversation, giving ourselves permission to release unrealistic expectations, and reminding each other (and you) that you don’t have to do it all to do this season well. No to-do lists. No fixing. Just grace, peace, and a deep breath before the chaos. If December already feels loud, heavy, or full, this episode is your reminder that you’re not alone — and that it’s okay to pause, reflect, and check in with yourself before wrapping one more thing.Press play, settle in, and consider this your holiday check-in 🤍

    Interrupted by: Surviving December

In this episode, we’re diving into what it really takes to survive December as a mom — the pressure, the expectations, the mental load, and the nonstop calendar of school events, holiday tasks, and family needs. We talk through the quiet stressors no one mentions, the guilt that creeps in when the month feels overwhelming, and the emotional weight of trying to create “magic” for everyone else. You’ll hear simple shifts to help you protect your energy, identify what actually matters to your family, and let go of the rest without guilt. We share practical ways to build in breathing room, how to avoid mom burnout, and small grounding practices that can anchor you when December starts spiraling. This is your reminder that you’re doing enough, you don’t need to chase perfection, and it’s okay to choose the version of December that feels sustainable. Interrupted by: That D*mn Elf on the Shelf

In this festive, chaotic, and slightly unhinged episode, Jennifer and Ely dive headfirst into the mayhem caused by that tiny holiday tyrant: the Elf on the Shelf. From the late-night panic of “Oh no, we forgot to move the elf!” to waking up with coffee in one hand and crafting supplies in the other, the hosts break down the magic, the madness, and the absolute mess this tradition brings into every mom’s December.Expect stories about elves caught in compromising positions, sugar-high elf pranks gone wrong, the pressure to outdo Instagram moms, and the universal moment when you contemplate retiring your elf early… like tomorrow. Listeners share their most chaotic elf fails, biggest wins, and the creative shortcuts that keep the magic alive without draining every last ounce of your sanity. This episode is a sleigh ride of laughter, solidarity, and a gentle reminder that the elf doesn’t need a full-blown North Pole production every night. Sometimes moving from the bookshelf to the candle holder counts as holiday magic. If your elf is currently hanging from a ceiling fan, stuck in a jar, or hiding in the same spot for the third day in a row, this one’s for you.

    Interrupted by: Holiday Budgeting

In this episode, we’re taking the stress out of seasonal spending. The holidays can feel like a financial pressure cooker for moms—between gifts, events, travel, outfits, classroom parties, and “just one more thing” moments, it’s easy for costs (and anxiety) to snowball. We’re breaking down how to create a realistic, guilt-free holiday budget that actually fits mom life. We’ll talk about what really matters to kids (hint: it’s not the price tag), simple ways to set spending limits without feeling restrictive, and how to avoid the comparison trap that sneaks in through social media and school events. We also cover last-minute money leaks, navigating partner expectations, and how to choose what to prioritize so you don’t end up financially or emotionally drained by January. With practical tips, honest mom-to-mom encouragement, and a few reality-check laughs, this episode helps you spend smarter, not bigger—so you can enjoy the season without the stress.

Interrupted by: Turkeys, Traditions & Tantrums

The holidays are here, and with them comes the beautiful blend of joy, pressure, chaos, and connection that every mom knows all too well. In this festive Thanksgiving themed episode of Mom, Interrupted, we dive into the world of holiday hosting, family gatherings, and the behind-the-scenes magic moms are expected to create — all while keeping their sanity intact. From planning the perfect meal (or pretending to), to navigating unpredictable family dynamics, to salvaging holiday traditions that don’t always go according to plan, this episode explores the real emotions and real-life moments that make the season what it is. You’ll hear funny hosting fails, nostalgic memories, and honest conversations about the invisible labor that moms shoulder this time of year.We also unpack how to make the holidays feel lighter, more meaningful, and less like a performance — offering practical tips for embracing imperfection, setting realistic expectations, and choosing connection over chaos. Whether you’re chasing kids while basting a turkey, negotiating gift lists, or carving out moments of peace in the middle of the mayhem, this episode will make you feel seen, supported, and maybe even a little more excited for what’s ahead.“Interrupted by: Turkeys, Traditions & Tantrums” is a warm, cozy, and hilariously honest reminder that the most memorable holiday moments are rarely the perfect ones — they’re the ones filled with laughter, crumbs, traditions, interruptions, and a whole lot of love.

Interrupted by: The Green Girl & The Girl in the Bubble

In this conversation, the speaker discusses the importance of recognizing the gray areas in life, particularly in the context of parenting. They emphasize that life is not simply about good versus evil, but rather about understanding the complexities and intentions behind people's actions. This understanding fosters empathy, compassion, and forgiveness in children, which are essential qualities for their development.Takeaways:One of the biggest takeaways from Wicked is that life just isn't good versus evil. It's so important to talk about the gray areas with our kids because that's where empathy lives. When they learn that people can make mistakes and still have good intentions, it helps them understand compassion and forgiveness. If we only teach the kids in black and white terms, like, this person is bad or this person is good, they miss out on knowing how to see people fully.Understanding the gray areas helps children develop a more nuanced view of the world.Empathy is crucial for children's emotional development.Teaching compassion and forgiveness is essential in parenting.Life's complexities should be communicated to children.Recognizing intentions behind actions fosters better understanding.Children need to learn about the full spectrum of human behavior.

We also give you a little insight to our summer plans, some polls and what we plan to do for when we come back in September for season two!We could not and would not have continued each week without hearing back from you guys, the viewers. Interrupted by: Raising Kids with Technology in 2025

Welcome to Episode 8! In this episode we are discussing technology and what it means to us to raise our kids in 2025 having access to basically, everything at their fingertips. We are millenials, and we definitely dated ourselves in this episode a little bit with some of things we mentioned. But - we find this topic to be extremely important. We feel that while technology is great, it is starting to get a little crazy between AI and Siri, these kids have access to so much more than we did and at a quicker pace than dial up.When you think about it, our kids can instantly just ask these built in phone or computer or tablet bots to show them something and if you aren't paying attention, you may start to have some unfortunate problems. That's why we discuss the importance of monitoring devices and utilizing those parental controls that our parents really didn't have access to when we were growing up.We discuss what technology was like for us in our homes and the similarities and differences between us and our kids. We think this is another important topic to discuss and it is one we definitely will come back to further down in future episodes. Until then - we hope you can relate and enjoy our eighth episode. And get ready to enjoy next week's special where we ask J & T allll of your burning questions for our very special Father's Day episode!Stay Tuned....

    Interrupted by: Mental Health

On our 6th episode of our podcast, we dive deep into some subtopics that come under the main topic of Mental Health. We talk about our own personal mental health struggles, our struggles with post partum depression, our men's struggle with post partum, and some statistics about men's mental health in general. This is SUCH a broad topic and it is one we want to visit over and over because we want to help really break that stigma of keeping it a topic that is in the dark. We want to help break that cycle of men thinking that because they are men they have to hide their feelings because they are "men" - especially because we want our tribe of little boys we are raising to know that it is OK to be a MAN and it is OK to still have feelings and learn how to process them in a healthy way. We talk about how 'baby blues' and 'post partum depression' are VERY different and how we both handled them throughout our post-pregnancy journeys. Again, this is such a huge topic and we only skim the surface of the the few topics we touch but as our podcast grows, and this tribe grows, we want everyone, including men to know that, it is ok to talk about your mental health. It is ok, to sometimes not be ok and it is ok to ask for help.

  22. 5

    Interrupted by: Being a Stepmom

In this week's episode we take a very deep dive and open up about the hardships that come with being a Stepmom. Jenna gives some insight into how co-parenting has changed with her ex-husband and how co-parenting is going between her, T and the other party. We listen to a special listener's answers we asked her about her time as a Stepmom and give a little bit of our input on her answers. Ely surprises Jenna with a quick 'Watch What Happens Live' inspired game about 'Mom Standards', Andy Cohen, where are you at?! We get a weeee bit emotional with this episode but we really hope that at least some of you Stepmoms out there, don't feel so alone.
