The topic of monuments within the United States has been one of great debate in recent years, leading American citizens to question their fundamental purpose. Monumental America is digging deeper by exploring monuments and their place in American society. We will be examining monuments big and small, popular and obscure, in order to gain a deeper understanding of why Americans erect monuments and how their function within our society has changed over time.
