Krissy is one of two Shining Lights Alumni Fellows for 2026. Krissy is a Math Secondary Education Major, and is extremely active on campus. Just some of her many involvements and responsibilities include being a Senior Resident Advisor; Riley '82 Center for Career Success Student Ambassador; QRC Math Tutor and President of Math Society; and membership/leadership in several honors' societies.

    Season 12 of Houndcast is all about Moravian University's Shining Lights Awards Recipients!  In this episode, Carol Bassie and Owen Levan-Uhler ’26 sat down with Emily Alonge ’27. Emily is one of two Shining Lights Alumni Fellows for 2026. She is currently majoring in Early Childhood Special Education, where she completed a SOAR research project with Dr. Laurie Khan about expanding job opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities.  Emily is an extremely active member of the Moravian community, and perhaps her most notable involvement is with United Student Government (USG), of which she is currently the President.

    S12E6: Haupert Humanitarian Award: Kathleen Cannon ’86

    Season 12 of Houndcast is all about Moravian University's Shining Lights Awards Recipients!  In this episode, Carol Bassie, Owen Levan-Uhler ’26, and Lexi Jordan ’27 hopped on Zoom to speak with Kathleen Cannon ’86. Kathleen is the recpient of the Haupert Humanitarian Award for 2026. The Haupert Humanitarian Award recognizes an alum who has rendered outstanding service in the cause of human welfare. Kathleen started her career as a licensed Social Worker in the Fort Lauderdale area. From 2002 to 2012, she was Vice President and COO of the Broward House. Since then, she has been the President and CEO of United Way of Broward County. She was also recently appointed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Miami Branch, and is also a member of the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice Board.     S12E5: Comenius Alumni Award: Stuart Lubow ’79

    Season 12 of Houndcast is all about Moravian University's Shining Lights Awards Recipients!  On this episode, Owen Levan-Uhler ’26 hopped on Zoom to speak with Stuart Lubow ’79, Comenius Alumni Award recipient for 2026. Stu has had a long, successful career as a banking executive in New York and Long Island. He was founder and CEO of Community State Bank, and CEO and President of Community National Bank. He joined Dime in 2017 as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Business Banking. Dime is not only a well-respected commercial community bank: It operates several programs to organize volunteers and fundraising efforts throughout New York City.

    S12E4: Medallion of Merit: Joseph “Joe” Hoffmeier ’88

    Season 12 of Houndcast is all about Moravian University's Shining Lights Awards Recipients!  On this episode, Carol Bassie, Owen Levan-Uhler ’26, and Lexi Jordan ’27 met with this year's Medallion of Merit recipient, Joe Hoffenmeier ’88. Joe is receiving this award to recoginze his outstanding service to the University. To name just a few of Joe's experiences as a volunteer, he was President of the Blue & Grey Club, served on the Golf Classic Committee, and was the Public Address Announcer for Lady Greyhound Basketball from 1986-2002. He's also a multiple-time Homecoming Tailgate Champion!

    Season 12 of Houndcast is all about Moravian University's Shining Lights Awards Recipients!  In this episode, Carol Bassie, Owen Levan-Uhler ’26, and Lexi Jordan ’27 sat down with our Benigna Education Award Recipient, Michael Rossi, Jr., Ph.D. '88, P'17, '21, '25.  Mike is the current superintendent of Lenape Valley Regional HS District in New Jersey. He's had a near-40-year career in K-12 education, and has also published over two dozen academic pieces on intervention strategies and professional development. As Secretary and Board Member for Developmental Education Services of Monroe County, she helps support essential services for adults with intellectual disabilities.     Season 12 of Houndcast is all about Moravian University's Shining Lights Awards Recipients! In this episode, Carol Bassie and Owen Levan-Uhler ’26 sat down with John "Will" Dadouris DMD ’20, one of our Young Alumni Achievement Award recipients.  Will practices dentistry in Clinton, New Jersey, with his father and uncle—but it's not the only way he helps people smile. Lily is the daughter of Jennifer ’05 G’11 and Justin Driscoll ’05, who received 2025's Haupert Humanitarian Award for their non-profit, Lily's Hope Foundation.     On this episode, Dylan Star and Owen Levan-Uhler ’26 sat down with John F. Ferry Jr. ’78, P’12 (Jack), who is the recipient of the Haupert Humanitarian Award for 2024's Shining Lights Awards. They talked about his time at Moravian studying under Prof. Jack Ramsey and performing with Moravian's Blackfriars. Jack then talked about his professional career, starting as an English teacher at Northampton High School, then owning a snack food distributorship, and finally, working for United Rehabilitation Services in Hazelton, which was an organization for adults with intellectual disabilities.

    In this episode, Dylan Star hopped onto Zoom with Kayla Herr ’19. Continuing with this season’s theme of success, they talked about Kayla’s experience with Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, Neighbors in Health, and her current job with the BRAVE program of South Florida. BRAVE, which stands for Be Resilient and Voice Emotions (BRAVE), was founded in 2019 and has made significant progress connecting high school teens to mental health resources. Pat is this year's recipient of the Medallion of Merit for this year's Shining Lights Awards. This season we wanted to focus on the idea of success, and what that means to each of the wonderful guests we bring onto the show.     To open Season 6 of Houndcast, Dylan talks to Mr. Gary Martell, recipient of the Haupert Humanitarian Award for 2023’s upcoming Shining Lights ceremony.
