Allow me to ReIntroduce Myself
After two years away from the mic, I’m reintroducing myself—not just to podcasting, but to a new season of motherhood, identity, and purpose. In this first episode of Motherhood, Rewritten, I share the heart behind this return and why this space had to be created. What started years ago with The Mom Mic Podcast has evolved into something deeper—because I’ve evolved. Motherhood changed me. Life changed me. And the woman I once was no longer fit the reality I was living. This episode is an honest reflection on identity—who we are before motherhood, who we become after, and the tension that lives in between. I open up about how my childhood upbringing shaped me into a perfectionist and how that mindset followed me into motherhood, often setting me up for failure. Motherhood, I’ve learned, is a constant practice of failing, learning forward, and letting go of the illusion of control.I also share my journey with infertility and PCOS, and how for a long time, I was taught that motherhood might not be my reality. Becoming career-driven became my way of producing, achieving, and finding worth—until an unplanned pregnancy radically shifted my lens. Becoming a mother changed everything, and yet, it left me wrestling with who I was outside of that role… again and again. This community was born from a place of feeling lost. From seasons of depression. From years of quietly fighting to hold onto my identity while carrying motherhood, responsibilities, and dreams at the same time. From the resentment that can build when dreams feel delayed or buried under the weight of survival and expectations.I know now that I am not the only mother who has felt this way. Not the only woman who loves her children deeply, yet feels disconnected from herself. Not the only one navigating the tension between purpose and parenting.Motherhood, Rewritten exists for the moms who are carrying both, the calling and the care. For the women who are learning that it’s okay to evolve, to grieve old versions of themselves, and to rewrite what motherhood looks like in this season.I close this episode by asking for prayer—for consistency, for courage, and for this space to reach the mothers who need it most. This work matters. These conversations matter. And you are not alone.Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening. If this episode resonates, I invite you to share it with another mom in your community who may be feeling lost and searching for language for her becoming.Your story isn’t over. It’s being rewritten.Follow host IG @RHO_SIMS
