    Episode 3: Plan Overwhelm

Finding Momentum When Apathy Takes OverIn this episode of Movement for Mind and Meaning, I open up about one of the hardest parts of my mental health journey: Apathy. Not sadness, not even the constant intrusive thoughts I’ve battled before - but the complete emotional numbness where you feel no passion, no excitement, and no drive to do anything.I share what it felt like to live in that emptiness - putting big plans together that came to nothing, and the frustration of wanting to want something again. Most importantly, I talk about the small but powerful shift that helped me begin to move forward: choosing just one simple, manageable goal and building momentum from there.

Episode 2: Taking the First Step Out of the Grey.

In this episode of Movement for Mind and Meaning, I dive into what it really feels like when “the grey” takes hold - those days where getting out of bed feels impossible and everything feels pointless. I share what’s helped me in those moments, including:- Why big plans and “super routines” often backfire when you’re at your lowest.- The power of micro wins, “too small to skip” steps that slowly rebuild momentum.- How I use walking, short workouts, and simple daily actions to change my state.- The importance of taking action without pressure even if it’s just five minutes.- How consistency in small movements transformed my own mental health and prepared me for challenges like the Marathon des Sables. This isn’t about quick fixes or pretending movement is the cure for everything. It’s about giving yourself a chance to feel something different, even if only for a moment. Over time, those tiny shifts add up, helping you remember who you are and what you’re capable of.Whether you’re in the grey yourself or supporting someone who is, remember it’s the small wins that matter most. If this resonates with you, share it with a friend who might need to hear it. You’re not alone in this, and we keep going together.

Episode 1: Why I Started Movement for Mind and Meaning.

Welcome to the very first episode of Movement for Mind and Meaning with me, Dylan Tanner. This show was born from my own journey through depression, grief, borderline personality disorder, and even a suicide attempt back in 2015. I know what it’s like to feel stuck in your mental health - exhaustion, emptiness and hopelessness. What helped me, time and time again, was movement. Not just exercise, but any form of movement that changed my state - therapy, writing, music, conversations, setting small goals or simply getting outside for a walk.In this first episode, I share:- My personal struggles with mental health and why I created this podcast.- What I mean by “the grey” and how it shows up in everyday life. - How small acts of movement - physical, mental, and emotional can spark momentum.- Why you don’t need to be “fixed” to keep moving forward. This podcast is for anyone who feels stuck in their own mental health and for those supporting friends or loved ones through it. My hope is that these episodes can show you that there is a way through, and that even the smallest step forward is worth it.Remember: we’re not trying to be perfect or “fixed.” We’re just trying to be better, bit by bit.If you find this episode helpful, please share it with someone who might need it. You’re not alone and we keep going, together.

Podcast Trailer: Movement for Mind and Meaning.

What if one small step could change everything?I created ‘Movement for Mind and Meaning’ with a simple mission - to help just one person choose life over that final step. Because if one person keeps going, one family is spared the devastation, and one life finds a better way forward? That would be enough. This podcast is raw, real, and rooted in lived experience. I’ve battled with depression, borderline personality disorder, and suicidal thoughts. I know what it feels like to be pinned to the bed, scrolling endlessly, convinced there’s no way out. There is a better way. Small movements and wins that add up hour by hour, day by day, week by week.Still here, still moving and if you’re ready to take even the smallest step with me, you’re in the right place.I’m Dylan Tanner, and this is Movement for Mind and Meaning.
