MRCI podcast with Jordan and Rick

Rick Daniels and Jordan Thunderchild are joined by a student to discuss valentines day and some dark histories. The Cree word of the week describes the word "love" and we also learn to say it in a new language as well, thanks to a student guest. 

First episode back after a long break. We would just like to welcome everyone back and get back into the language again. So on behalf of this channel, we welcome you all back and hope to get back into discussions again.

This week Jordan joins back on the podcast and speaking about the MMIWG2S exhibit that was set up at the school. Rick also shares our Cree word of the week, which goes with our MMIWG2S display. We are also introduced to some fourth year nursing students who will be joining our school. 

This week Diante hosts as he is joined by Randine, along with Rick. This weeks Cree word of the week is about family. Kinship specifically. Which is very important to First Nations people. The word was picked because Diante brings us a trickster story that he has heard and learned about. He shares his interpretation of the story while Randine and Rick give their own interpretations as well. 

A student from MRCI will be hosting the podcast. as Jordan and Rick guest speak on treaties. The Cree word of the week is treaty, and Rick and Jordan touch on why language is important in history. They also go through a to 10 of the week. and This weeks top 10 focus' on Indigenous athletes.

Jordan and Rick are joined by Nahanni Olsen to speak about international Women's Day. We chose two Cree words this week that correlate with each other and Nahanni shares some of the history behind those words.

This week we are joined by a student guest. we cover the word of the week, and talk about the history around that. Following the Cree word fo the week, we discuss some news articles, and finally a top 10 of the week. This weeks top 10 is regarding worst marvel characters. 

Welcome back from our one week break. This week Rick and Jordan cover the Cree word for honour. After we discuss our Cree word of the week, we discuss a little culture behind the word honour. Jordan covers a top 10 list of good things that came out of a pandemic. Rick and Jordan also get into a discussion about keeping active again. Which is important to find your own positive outlets when we need to stay safe and social distance.

This weeks episode, we are joined by 2 new guests, and beginning educators. We will go over a quick review of the Cree lessons from the last few episodes. We also get into a discussion about the importance of water, to tie in this week's Cree word of the week. This episode is a little longer than the previous episodes, due to next week being our break. We hope all our listeners stay safe and warm during that break!

Welcome back to the second episode of this podcast. This weeks topic follows the topic of acceptance. With many things that are going on in the world today, such as our Ribbon skirt day, and Black History month, Rick and I felt this would be a good topic to kick off the month with. Join us as we share a quick weekly Cree lesson, and get some words of advice and wisdom from Rick. 

Episode 1 has Rick and Jordan discussing the importance of working together and about our language. This is the first of many podcasts that are here to support the mustang youth and community.  We look forward to growing this and enjoy listening!
