And yet the letters he wrote from those chains (Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians) are considered the high watermark of his entire ministry. In this final episode of our Paul's Journeys series, Kelli and Guy wrap up the series by talking about:What we cover:Paul's prison letters and why they matterTeams of teams spreading the gospel across Asia MinorLiving the dash — making your life countThe tension between execution and relationship in leadershipSpiritual grandparenting and generational legacyHow to start where you are — in any journeyMentioned: Neil Cole's Journeys | Frank Viola's The Untold Story of the New Testament Church

Paul's Journey 3: Team of Teams - Die to Multiply
What does it look like when a movement of God stops being about one person, and becomes a team of teams? In Part 3 of Paul's Journeys, Guy and Kelli explore the convergence of leaders in Ephesus, how faithful men and women proved themselves locally before being sent translocally, and what it truly means to die to multiply. From the Hall of Tyrannus to the seven churches of Revelation, this episode unpacks a leadership development process hiding in plain sight — one that challenges us to start where we are, burn for God in the mundane, and trust that depth always precedes breadth.Key topics: Team of teams | Proven locally before sent translocally | Exhortation without demonstration leads to frustration | Die to multiply | New levels, new devils | Developing depth that leads to breadthTimestamps:0:00 — Welcome & recap of Journey 22:00 — Mirror reading the Bible: what we scan over4:30 — Barnabas in Corinth: a restoration hiding in a footnote7:00 — The convergence in Ephesus: team of teams9:30 — Ephesians 4:11-16 and the PEST gifts11:30 — Exhortation without demonstration14:00 — Institutional vs. apostolic leadership development16:00 — Decentralization and the hub model18:30 — Start where you are / burned at the stake vs. taking out the trash21:00 — New levels, new devils28:00 — Die to multiply32:00 — Journey 4 preview & support the podcast🎙️ Mud & Rib is hosted by Guy and Kelli Caskey — apostolic leaders, authors, and co-founders of The M4 Network and Caskey Collective**👇 CONNECT WITH US**🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts: Search Mud & Rib Podcast 📧 Join Our Mailing List: https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/ab8ddab6d6 📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast 💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected]

Paul's Journey 2: Slowing Down, Suffering and Spiritual Parenting | Mud and Rib Podcast
Paul's second journey isn't about more momentum — it's about learning to slow down, let go of your plan, and raise up a team.In this episode, Guy and Kelli walk through Acts 16 and beyond: the Macedonian call, the birth of the church at Philippi, 18 months in Corinth, and the moment Paul starts writing letters filled with spiritual parenting language — gentle as a nursing mother, investing like a spiritual father. They talk about why suffering is inseparable from every calling (not just apostolic ones), how "slower is faster" applies to disciple-making, and why the goal was never to do it all yourself, it was always to raise up multipliers.Honest. Practical. Grounded in Scripture and real life.🎙️ Hosted by Guy & Kelli Caskey | Caskey Collective and M4 Network**👇 CONNECT WITH US**▶️ Watch on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@TheCaskeyCollective 🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts: Search Mud & Rib Podcast 📧 Join Our Mailing List: https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/ab8ddab6d6 📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast 💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected]📖 Guy's book: Making Him LORD — available at https://a.co/d/06zDds2P🔔 Subscribe so you don't miss Paul's Journey 3 — coming soon.👍 Like this episode if it encouraged you.

Paul's Journeys Pt. 2 — The First Journey and What It Means for You
We're back for Part 2 of our deep dive into Paul's journeys — and this time, we're getting into the real details of his first missionary journey with Barnabas through the Galatian region (Acts 13–14). If you haven't listened to Part 1 yet, go back and start there — it lays a powerful foundation for everything we cover here.In This Episode:We open by talking about three things that transformed how we read and understand the scriptures: reading the Bible in large quantities and in its full context, mirror reading (looking at both the historical backdrop and the side-by-side reading of Paul's letters alongside the Book of Acts), and Neil's leadership development framework that shows us how Paul grew through each journey. One of the most mind-blowing moments of this conversation is realizing that Acts 9 through Acts 15 — just six chapters — actually covers 14 to 15 years of Paul's life. So much happened in Damascus, Tarsus, and Jerusalem before Paul ever arrived in Antioch. And Paul wasn't sitting around waiting — he was in synagogues, proclaiming Christ, being beaten, and being restored.Key Themes We Explore:The apostolic call — what it means to start, strengthen, and sustain the work in new placesWhy Barnabas is mentioned first, and when it shifts to Paul & Barnabas — and why it mattersKingdom Stewards — taking responsibility for what God has given you as fertilizer for growthThe first journey as the most chaotic — and why that's okay and necessaryHow leaders are developed in the local church before they're ever sent outThe difference between apostolic (going) church and the local (staying) churchWhy delegation is hard on the first journey — and what to do about itReflective Questions for Your First Journey:Wherever you are in your faith walk, these questions are worth sitting with — especially if you're in a season of starting something new or feeling scattered in your ministry:Have you found yourself in a hurry to serve God, ticking boxes instead of growing people? Are you working on a wide scale with great diversity, but no real focus?Do people notice how good you are at the job — and is that becoming about you instead of Jesus? Is delegation hard for you? Do you struggle to trust others to do the work? Are the results of your work more important to you than the process of developing people? The first journey is probably the least effective journey of our lives — but it's also the most necessary. It's where we gain the practical know-how that will later be passed on to others. Start where you are. Be faithful with the relationships God has already given you. That's where the kingdom starts — and it spreads from there.Resources Mentioned:The Untold Story of the New Testament Church — Frank ViolaThe Bible Project — bibleproject.comLeadership Community Mirror Reading Guide — email us to request a copyNext Episode:We're just getting started! How to Develop Leaders: The MAWL Leadership Framework (Model, Assist, Watch, Launch)
Ep 026: In this episode of the Mud and Rib Podcast, Guy and Kelli Caskey explore a simple but powerful framework for developing leaders called MAWL: Model, Assist, Watch, Launch.Using Deuteronomy 6, the example of Jesus’ leadership, and years of experience in parenting, disciple-making, church planting, and the workplace, they discuss how real leadership development happens through relationship and practice—not just training or information. Many leaders skip critical steps in developing others. Some delegate too quickly, while others never release people to lead. The MAWL framework provides a clear pathway to help people grow in confidence, competence, and calling so they can eventually lead others as well.Guy and Kelli also connect this leadership pathway with Ken Blanchard’s situational leadership model, showing how different stages of growth require different types of leadership support.Whether you're a parent, workplace leader, disciple maker, or ministry leader, this episode will help you develop people intentionally and multiply leaders over time.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Leadership02:22 The Importance of Modeling in Leadership06:59 Assisting and Supporting Others14:21 The Watching Phase in Leadership20:13 Launching Leaders: The Final Step23:25 Situational Leadership Explained35:49 Conclusion and Key Takeaways ResourcesDeuteronomy 6 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+6&version=NIVKen Blanchard's Situational Leadership Model - https://www.kenblanchard.com/▶️ Watch on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@TheCaskeyCollective 🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts: Search Mud & Rib Podcast 📧 Join Our Mailing List: https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/ab8ddab6d6 📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast 💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected] If this episode resonated with you, please like, subscribe, share, and leave a review—it truly helps others find the podcast.

Identity, Intimacy, and Influence: The Intersection of Leadership
Ep 025: In this episode of the Mud and Rib Podcast (Love, Life, and Leadership), Guy and Kelli talk about Identity, Intimacy, and Influence, and why these three realities are meant to function simultaneously, like a Venn diagram, not a step-by-step ladder. We unpack why every Jesus-follower is called to meaningful influence (not platform influence), and why true impact flows from knowing who you are in Christ (new creation), learning intimacy with God (not checklist Christianity), and living out your responsibility as an ambassador with a ministry and a message. You’ll hear practical ways to develop your “fingerprint” of intimacy, how obedience often deepens dependence, and why influence that people trust requires both character and competency.Chapters00:00 Introduction: The Significance of Influence in Christian Life00:37 Why Influence Matters for Followers of Christ01:34 Different Levels of Influence and Talents03:16 The Role of Faithfulness and Influence in Daily Life04:40 Influence Beyond Ministry: Everyday Impact05:10 Our Identity in Christ: A New Creation07:04 Children of God vs. Created in God's Image08:49 The Ministry and Message of Influence09:46 Responsibility and Sphere of Influence10:15 The Fullness of Following Jesus: Beyond Relationship with God13:27 Understanding the Venn Diagram of Identity, Intimacy, and Influence14:20 God’s Favor vs. Intimacy: Knowing the Heart of God15:14 Developing Personal Intimacy with God16:39 The Role of Spiritual Disciplines in Intimacy18:34 Authentic Connection with God: Beyond Techniques20:01 Connecting Daily Tasks to Spiritual Life21:26 Practical Ways to Stay Focused on God Throughout the Day22:25 Engaging with People as Jesus Did23:25 Christ’s Abiding Presence and Spiritual Connection24:22 Obedience as a Path to Deeper Intimacy25:49 Personal Stories of God’s Presence in Crisis27:11 Living with Character and Competence29:03 The Urgency of Influence and Maturity32:14 The True Goal: Influence Out of Relationship, Not Motivation33:12 Starting Where You Are: Faithful Steps in Influence35:24 MUD & RIB WEEKLY OUTRO.mp4ResourcesCelebration of Disciplines by Richard Foster - https://www.amazon.com/Celebration-Disciplines-Spiritual-Formation-Through/dp/0060694407▶️ Watch on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@TheCaskeyCollective 🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts: Search Mud & Rib Podcast 📧 Join Our Mailing List: https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/ab8ddab6d6 📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast 💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected] If this episode resonated with you, please like, subscribe, share, and leave a review—it truly helps others find the podcast

Ep 23: Marriage Mini Series – Part 3: Trust, Forgiveness & HealingWhat actually breaks trust in a marriage? Is forgiveness the same thing as trust? And can a relationship truly heal after betrayal? In this episode of the Mud & Rib Podcast, Guy and Kelli talk honestly about broken trust — from lying and secrecy to pornography and infidelity — and what it really takes to rebuild what was shattered. Emotional Connection, Intimacy and Sex in Marriage (The Conversation We Avoid) Part 2
Ep 22: In Part 2 of our Marriage Mini-Series, Guy and Kelli Caskey have an honest conversation about emotional connection, intimacy, and sex in marriage. This episode goes beyond cultural extremes—neither purity culture shame nor Hollywood fantasy—to explore God’s design for sex as a gift within covenant marriage. Drawing from their own story, including years of struggle, miscommunication, and healing, Guy and Kelli talk candidly about:• Why emotional connection deeply affects physical intimacy• How communication (or lack of it) shapes the marriage bed• Differing sex drives and realistic expectations around frequency• Insecurity, body image, and feeling desired• The impact of porn on trust and intimacy• Healthy boundaries, serving one another, and rebuilding trust over time• Why sex can be fast food, home-cooked, or gourmet—and why all three matterThis conversation is vulnerable, practical, and hopeful. Stop Fighting the Same Fight, Marriage Mini Series – Part 1: Communication & Conflict in Marriage
Episode 021 (Part 1): Welcome to the Mud & Rib Podcast—about love, life, and leadership. We’re kicking off a four-week Marriage Mini Series, based on topics you voted for, starting with communication and conflict resolution.Guy and Kelli share some of the real conflicts from their early marriage—like mind-reading expectations, trying to control change in each other, triggers from past pain, and learning to prioritize the marriage relationship even in the middle of ministry and busy seasons. They talk about how marriage doesn’t have to stay hard, but it will refine you—because the hardest part is often dying to selfishness and growing in maturity. This episode gets practical:-how to stop shutting down in conflict-how to create “time-out” agreements without stonewalling-why you can’t “make” someone feel something- and how to own your emotions-how to use active listening and assertive (clear) communication-when honesty helps…and when “telling everything” can actually harm trust-how honor, prayer, and good questions can break toxic cyclesThis conversation sets the foundation for Part 2: Emotional Connection, Intimacy, and Sex in Marriage.▶️ Watch on YouTube: www.youtube.com/@TheCaskeyCollective🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts: Search Mud & Rib Podcast📧 Join Our Mailing List:https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/29861...📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast( / mud.and.rib.podcast )💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected] If this episode resonated with you, please like, subscribe, share, and leave a review—it truly helps others find the podcast.

Connecting (Part 4) Whitewall Washing; Covering Up to Create Safety
Ep 20: I. this episode of the Mud and Rib podcast, Guy and Kelli Caskey discuss the concept of 'white wall washing'—a metaphor for the tendency to cover up truths in order to create a false sense of safety. They explore how this urge can rob individuals of genuine connections with others and with God. Through personal experience and biblical references, they emphasize the importance of embracing risk, truth, and community in fostering deeper relationships. The conversation also highlights the need for encouragement and the power of seeing the good in others as a means of transformation.Stay Connected▶️ Watch on YouTube: / @thecaskeycollective 🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts📧 Join Our Mailing List:https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/29861...📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast( / mud.and.rib.podcast )💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected]If this episode resonated with you, please like, subscribe, share, and leave a review—it truly helps others find the podcast.Next week, we start the 4 week, mini marriage series! Connecting (Part 3) The Well Digger: Chasing Pleasure, Losing Connection
Ep: 019 - In Week 3 of our Connecting Series, Guy and Kelli unpack the metaphor of the Well Digger—one of the hidden urges that quietly robs us of deep connection with God and others. A well digger is someone who insists on feeling good now and on their own terms. Whether through pleasure, addiction, success, approval, or even ministry, we can end up digging our own broken cisterns instead of drinking from the living water God offers. This is an honest, hope-filled conversation about surrender, healing, and learning to live from overflow instead of emptiness.🗳️ Marriage Series Poll We’re launching a Mini Marriage Series in February, and we want your input—especially from the guys!👉 Take the poll here:https://forms.gle/yvLdmfSaxfkV4Fy97Stay Connected▶️ Watch on YouTube:www.youtube.com/@TheCaskeyCollective🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts📧 Join Our Mailing List:https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/2986162456📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast(https://www.instagram.com/mud.and.rib.podcast)💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected]If this episode resonated with you, please like, subscribe, share, and leave a review—it truly helps others find the podcast. Connecting, Part 2: Firelighters — Trusting God in the Dark
Ep 018: In Part 2 of our Connecting series, we explore another urge that quietly robs us of deep connection with God and others: Firelighting. When life feels dark, confusing, or out of control, many of us respond by lighting our own fires—creating plans, systems, and solutions instead of trusting God to be our light. Drawing from Isaiah 50, Proverbs, and the story of Scripture, we talk about how planning can subtly replace trust, and how religious systems, self-sufficiency, and control can keep us from real connection. In this episode, we discuss:-Why darkness and confusion test our trust in God-The difference between healthy planning and firelighting-How firelighting leads to false connection and control-Learning to trust God through dark nights of the soul-Why God wants to be our light—not just our plan-This conversation invites us to stop striving for clarity and start trusting the One who is faithful in the dark.Stay Connected▶️ Watch on YouTube:www.youtube.com/@TheCaskeyCollective🎧 Listen on Spotify & Apple Podcasts📧 Join Our Mailing List:https://mud-rib-podcast.kit.com/2986162456📸 Instagram: @mud.and.rib.podcast(https://www.instagram.com/mud.and.rib.podcast)💌 Share Your Ideas: [email protected]
