    One Nite Alone | Prince

One Nite Alone... is the twenty-fifth studio album by American recording artist Prince. It was released on May 14, 2002 by NPG Records. It features him singing and accompanying himself on piano, making only occasional use of other instruments. It includes a cover of the Joni Mitchell classic, "A Case of You", retitled "A Case of U". Mitchell receives special thanks in the liner notes. One song that caused some controversy amongst fans[citation needed] is "Avalanche", which describes Abraham Lincoln as a racist. One Nite Alone... was released online through the NPG Music Club and was never available in stores. Many fans have only heard the album through MP3 file-sharing, and original CD copies are quite rare; in 2015, the album was released through Tidal.

Diamonds And Pearls | Prince and The New Power Generation

"Diamonds and Pearls" is the title track to Prince and The New Power Generation's 1991 hit album.[3] The song is an upbeat ballad, given a rock edge with guitar and heavy drumming. The song also features the vocals of NPG member Rosie Gaines. The ballad is an expression of love and not lust, as is the theme on some of the other singles from the album. The song was a top 10 hit, reaching number 3 in the US and the top spot on the R&B chart. The infamous pearls in the music video come from Connie Parente, a Los Angeles jewelry collector and designer.

    Raspberry Beret | Prince

"Raspberry Beret" is a song by Prince and The Revolution. It was the first US (and second UK) single from their 1985 album, Around the World in a Day. The sound of the song expanded upon previous Prince arrangements, incorporating stringed instruments (a recurring accompaniment over the years), Middle Eastern finger cymbals, and even a harmonica on the extended version. The song was also more in the pop vein than ever before, though the 12-inch single and video of the song feature a funky intro. Although the song was originally recorded in 1982, Prince drastically reworked it with The Revolution to give it more of an international sound. The string section was: Novi Novog on violin, Suzie Katayama, David Coleman and Prince on cello. Wendy & Lisa composed and conducted the strings on "Raspberry Beret" and provided backing vocals. The rest of the song was performed by Prince. The song tells of a teenage romance and first sexual experience with a girl who wears the titular hat. The video for the song was Prince's first since his short-lived "ban" on music videos, and was directed primarily by himself, with animation created by Colossal Pictures co-founder Drew Takahashi. The song quickly became a fan favorite, and a staple in nearly every Prince tour. The extended version was included on Ultimate in 2006. While the song hit number 1 in Cash Box and reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, only behind "A View to a Kill" by Duran Duran, it only reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart.

Little Red Corvette | Prince and The Revolution

at the time, and his first to reach the top 10 in the US, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It was also his first single to perform better on the pop chart than the R&B chart, due to the pop/rock format of the song. The song combines a drum machine beat and slow synth buildup for the verses and a full rock chorus. Backing vocals were done by Dez Dickerson and Lisa Coleman and the guitar solo was also played by Dickerson. In the song, Prince narrates a one-night stand with a beautiful but promiscuous woman (the "Little Red Corvette" of the title); although he enjoys the experience, he urges her to "slow down" and "find a love that's gonna last" before she destroys herself. In addition to the title, he uses several other automobile metaphors, for example comparing their lovemaking to a ride in a limousine. A 12" dance remix of the song was released to accompany the single, and it continues where the album version fades out. The US single was originally released with the album track "All the Critics Love U in New York" as the B-side, while in the UK two separate single releases had it backed with "Lady Cab Driver" or "Horny Toad". Separate UK 12" releases had the song paired with "Automatic" and "International Lover", or "Horny Toad" and "D.M.S.R.". Later, it was released as a double A-side with "1999". The single was released with another 1999 track, "Let's Pretend We're Married". On Prince's 2006 compilation album, Ultimate, the dance remix of "Little Red Corvette" was a featured track. Following Prince's death, the song re-charted on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at number 29. It rose to number 20 one week later. It has sold 919,131 copies in the United States. (Wikipedia)

    1999 | Prince

"1999" is a song by American musician Prince, the title track from his 1982 album of the same name. The song is one of Prince's best-known, and a defining moment in his rise to superstar status. The apocalyptic yet upbeat party anthem saw chart success in 1983 (particularly in Australia, where it peaked at number 2), but it did not make it into the Top 40 in the US or the UK on the first attempt. The song originally peaked at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1982 but following the top 10 success of "Little Red Corvette", the song was re-released and peaked at number 12 in the US in July 1983, and at number 25 in the UK in January 1983 (reaching number 2 in the UK when re-released in 1985).[2] Rolling Stone ranked the song number 215 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[3] Following Prince's death, the song re-charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 41, later moving up to number 27, making it the fourth separate time the song had entered the Hot 100 and the third different decade in which the song re-charted (as after its two 1980s entries, it made the chart again on January 16, 1999 at number 40). As of April 30, 2016, it has sold 727,363 copies in the United States. (Wikipedia)

The most beautiful girl in the world | Prince

"The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" is the lead single from Prince's 1995 album The Gold Experience. It was his first release since changing his stage name to an unpronounceable symbol. With the consent of Prince's usual record distributor Warner Bros. Records, "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" was released by NPG Records and Edel Music and independently distributed by Bellmark Records, under the control and guidance of Music of Life as a one-off single. The single was released in February 1994 in the UK and remains Prince's only number-one single in the UK Singles Chart, and was shortly followed by an EP of remixes titled The Beautiful Experience that also charted at 18 in the UK chart. The version that was released on The Gold Experience is a different mix of the song.

Around the World in a Day | Prince

Around the World in a Day is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the second to feature his backing band The Revolution. It was released on April 22, 1985, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. In compliance with Prince's wishes, the record company released the album with minimal publicity, not even releasing an accompanying single until almost a full month after the album's release. Prince made the request because he preferred the public to first experience the record in its entirety rather than through any particular song.[
