Ni sisi

Kwa muda mrefu, wanakijiji wa Bweni, wilaya ya Pangani Mkoa wa Tanga, wamkuwa na changamoto mbalimbali zinazohusiana na huduma ya afya. Si ajabu kwamba Uraghbishi ulipoanza kijijini hapo changamoto hii ikawa moja ya kipaumbele chao cha juu kabisa. Fuatilia mazungumzo haya kujua namna gani changamoto hii ilitatuliwa.

Namudu Gloria works with Gawoole John at Bwase Bogobwe zone village. I met the two in August this year 2023, when I visited their village. Gloria told me that one of the things she is very proud about her work in animation is the availability of electricity in their village. Although she doesn't have a television at her own home, she said she was very pleased that several villagers in her community benefit from the electricity in various ways. I started our conversation by asking her, "How does she find her role as a Change Agent?"

Gawoole John is a change agent from Bwase Bogobwe zone village. When I met him in August 2023, it was very clear how he took proud in his role as a change agent. But things weren’t always like that in his village. In the beginning of the animation work in their village, the chairperson gave him and his colleague Namudu Gloria such a hard time that the programme almost failed. But today, the three of them enjoy such a cordial relationships.   

Hadi kufikia March 2023, Kijiji cha Madanga, Wilaya ya Pangani, hakikuwa kimefanya mikutano kwa takribani miaka mitatu. Hii yote ni kutokana na migogoro iliyokuwepo miongoni mwa viongozi wa vitongoji na kata. Lakini baada ya kuja kwa uraghbishi kijiji hapo, migogoro ilitatuliwa, na mikutano ikapangwa kufanyika tena. Change Agents don’t just motivate fellow citizens to exercise agency. In some villages, their work has distinguished them as the go-to-individuals when their communities want certain projects to be accomplished. In this interview Adong Caroline from Amiabil village in Kole county North Uganda shares the story about how she led her community in reviving a local primary school which turned dormant because of bad management.
