No One Likes My Ideas

In this episode I'll tell you a story about a time when a team I was working on almost sent a message to the community that was misleading. The intentions were good, the message was something our team wanted to be true, but the attempt to get it right almost resulted in a lie. 

Ever have an idea that would have cost most than helped? In episode 7 I discuss a time when members of my team were trying to get a coconut to fall from a palm tree in an attempt to fulfill a dream. As it turns out, the way they were trying to fulfill that dream could have resulted in a costly mistake. I had to step in! I'll remind you in this episode that as a leader, how you navigate moments of idea intervention will determine future trust and future influence.

Ever asked someone out on a date and it turns out they didn't like your idea? Ouch. Dating is where ideas are shared in large quantity - where to eat, when to meet, how long, what should I wear, who will be there, will we kiss... But none of those questions can be asked until you ask that person on a first date. What's that been like for you?
