From Rotterdam to Evanston w/Maja Zivojnovic and Ilse Tromp
Junior Maja Zivojnovic and sophomore Ilse Tromp have basically played field hockey together for as long as they can remember. Both growing up in the Netherlands, Tromp followed Zivojnovic to Northwestern where they’ve each had very different experiences: Tromp is tied for the second-most goals scored on the No. 1 team in the country, while Zivojnovic recently returned from her second torn ACL in two years. Zivojnovic and Tromp joined this week’s episode of NUFH Said to chat about growing up playing in the Netherlands, their journeys to Northwestern and Zivojnovic’s long road back from two crushing injuries.

Fuchs talks about her journey that began at Northwestern in 2009, what she remembers about those early years and the work it took to win a national title in 2021. Then, program alumni Jen Averill, Nancy Stevens and Lisa McCarthy share some of their favorite memories from being part of Northwestern field hockey.

Growing Up on a Farm w/Lane Herbert
Senior forward Lane Herbert has an interesting backstory: She grew up on a farm in Celina, Texas, helping raise cows, horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats, and her mother drove her 5.5 hours each way to field hockey practice. At Northwestern, she’s studying biology with plans of going to medical school and focusing on women’s sports medicine, a field she says is very understudied. She’s also been a major advocate among student-athletes for having conversations about mental health challenges and guiding teammates to the resources they have at their disposal.

Associate head coach Georgia Holland joins Eric Rynston-Lobel this week to take a deep dive into her field hockey journey, from growing up on Long Island, New York to playing at Yale and Wake Forest, before landing as a coach. Holland also broke down the Wildcats' first two wins of the season against Maine and UMass and looked ahead to upcoming matchups with Duke and Boston College.
