Drawing inspiration from Jane Eyre, Dinah Maria Craiks 1850 novel, Olive, stands out as one of the early works to feature a central character with a disability. Born with a slight deformation, Olive grapples with the belief that she will never experience love or marriage like other women. Instead, she immerses herself in her art, her devotion to her mother, and her deep-seated faith.
