Organ transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients in end-stage kidney disease and the only option available to patients suffering from heart, liver or lung failure. The Department of Surgery at Cambridge University and Addenbrooke’s Hospital have been at the forefront of transplantation since its inception. Professor J Andrew Bradley is a world leader in the field of transplant surgery, he is Professor of Surgery at Cambridge University, an honorary Transplant Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and has been President of the British Transplantation Society, the Society of Academic and Research Surgeons, and the British Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
