Perspectives - With Maree Burgess

Perspectives are recordings that are like affirmations and reframes for your mind. They are not meditations, though they can be used like. I'm an occasional meditator - though I've tried to be consistent in the past - I struggle to form a meditating habit, so I created recordings for myself that I could listen to anytime.I started asking clients, colleagues, and friends if they could have a purpose-created perspective, what would they want to hear? You can listen to any of these while walking or cooking, or just hanging around (probably not when you are driving - just in case you trance out).Perspective has been a word buzzing around in my head for years. It's like seeing through our ‘tunnel vision’ (a narrow perspective) versus seeing through our ‘peripheral vision’ (a wide perspective). My Perspective recordings are about widening or changing a perspective you may have that possibly limits you.Enjoy : ) <

Let's release overthinking Sometimes the mind gets busy, doesn't it? Thoughts repeating, looping, trying to work something out again and again and again. And it can feel like you need to keep thinking until you find the answer. But is that actually true? Stop That Negative Thought Pattern in its Tracks

Letting go of negative thought patterns that are currently limiting you.  Sometimes a thought pattern appears. And then repeats again and again and again. And the more it repeats, the more real it can start to feel as if repetition somehow makes it true. You are not the thought are you? You are the one noticing the thought, and once you notice it, you have a choice. You can continue to follow the thought as it loops. Or you can step back and let it pass. Either way, you become more aware and that awareness is what creates change now.Maree Burgess has written three leadership books, is the creator of the Perspectives - with Maree Burgess Podcast. Step into Your Wellness

Reconnect with your body, and your energy. Sometimes your body needs a reset - so slow down to notice that, because there are times when your energy feels off. You feel flat, you feel heavy, you feel disconnected. And the mind can quickly create a story around that. I'll start tomorrow. I need more time. I need the right conditions. But what's interesting is your body doesn't actually need a perfect moment to begin again. Just a shift in your perspective.Maree Burgess has written three leadership books, is the creator of the Perspectives - with Maree Burgess Podcast. Overcome Overwhelm and A Limiting Belief Fast

This Perspective is for you if there are times when everything can feel heavy - too many thoughts, too many things to do.   Too many things sitting in the background of your mind. And underneath that, there is often a quiet belief, a belief that shapes how you see yourself, how you see your life, and what you think is possible. So for a moment, gently bring that belief into your awareness. You don't need to analyse it, just notice it. You might even name it silently to yourself. And as you do, notice how it feels to carry it, because some beliefs. Don't just sit in the mind. They sit in the body and in the shoulders, or in the chest, and even in the gut, and it's part of you as you move through your day.Maree Burgess has written three leadership books, is the creator of the Perspectives - with Maree Burgess Podcast. Overcome Your Fear of Having Tough Conversations

Most people don't actually fear difficult conversations. They fear the moment before them, the anticipation, the questions, the mind starts asking, like, what if they react badly? What if I say something wrong? What if the relationship changes? So the mind starts preparing. Replaying possible outcomes, editing sentences, rehearsing, what might happen. And the more the mind rehearses, the bigger the conversation can begin to feel until something simple.Maree Burgess has written three leadership books, is the creator of the Perspectives - with Maree Burgess Podcast. Overcome the Fear of Not Being Liked

Many people carry a quiet concern, a small voice that says, what if they don't like me? What if that comment sounded wrong? What if that decision disappointed someone? What if speaking honestly changes the way people see me? And so the mind begins adjusting, softening opinions, editing thoughts, choosing words carefully in the hope of staying acceptable, and on the surface. This is simply a moment to shift your perspective, and this is about letting go of that need to prove. There is nothing to achieve. Nothing to perform, nothing to prove. Finding Your Direction and Purpose in Your Work

Instead of searching for one perfect direction, consider something different. What if your direction is not a single decision? But a combination of what matters to you, the things that bring you alive, the things that feel meaningful, the things that allow you to contribute in a way that feels real. Be The Speaker You Already Are

The truth is your audience isn't sitting there asking, will this speaker be perfect? They're wondering, will this be real? And you already know how to do that, how to be that you've lived the stories, you've done the work, you care about what you're saying. So instead of asking, am I good enough to be up here? You might ask. What becomes possible for them, because you can step fully into that version of you, the one who is calm, clear, grounded, connected, not performing, not proving. Maree Burgess has written three leadership books, is the creator of the Perspectives - with Maree Burgess Podcast. We Are Powerful As Mid-life Women

Many women hear, as they move through life, a story that quietly suggests that power belongs to youth, that confidence belongs to someone younger, or that it belongs to men, and that the most important chapters are somehow behind you.But when you stop and really think about that story, it begins to fall apart because midlife is not about the shrinking of power.
