PHANTASYMIX 57: Rosie Ama
Phantasy are pleased to welcome Rosie Ama to our mix series. A significant figure on the outer fringes of the UK’s electronic music scene, Rosie has risen from a keen documentarian of bold sounds via her work as writer and editor for Stamp The Wax and Ransom Note, later taking to the decks and clocking up releases for Fabric and Ritmo Fatale as half of the duo Kiara Scuro, and more recently going boldly, brilliantly solo following their definitive final gig at Panorama Bar. A restless advocate for new music, Rosie’s monthly show on Noods Radio, ‘Melodic Odds’ trades in strange grooves that carve a path between the reverberations of acid house and an emerging crop of like-minded selectors operating in the deeper, more hypnotic corners of the scene. Since 2022, these sounds have been lovingly compiled across her own self-curated record label, Human Endeavour, and of course at her club gigs, having recently shared soundsystems with Wallace, Optimo, Babyschon and more. In the case of PHANTASYMIX 57, Rosie charts a course through firm personal favourites and recent finds alike, digging up decades of misunderstood indie-dance and offbeat electro to consume curiosities, offbeat-bangers and currently unreleased tackle, spanning tracks from C.L.A.W.S, Roe Deers, !!! and even legendary ‘mad skunk burner’ DJ Sneak at his most wilfully acidic. It’s a trip, that’s for certain.

PHANTASYMIX 56: Nadia Ksaiba
A key figure in London’s underground dance music scene, charismatic co-host of NTS’s long-running house and disco mixup Rhythm Connection, alongside Dan Beaumont, as well as previously appearing on Phantasy with the timeless single ‘Virtual Lover’, it’s a delight to welcome Nadia Ksaiba back into the fold for a PHANTASYMIX. Encompassing the diverse spectrum and history of a heavy yet light-footed record collection, this transmission from Nadia captures her current perspective on the house continuum, reaching into past and present to blend cuts from Ketiov, Citi Express, Lipelis, Ella Andall and our very own Boys’ Shorts. Jackin’, chugging and merrily weaving dancefloor deep cuts with secret weapons, PHANTASYMIX 56: Nadia Ksaiba is streaming now on Apple Music and Soundcloud. "I selected a bunch of tunes that I was really digging at the time, in the hope that it all came together in the mix. I've been DJing for a long time now and like to think that my music tastes are always evolving, and that can be heard in this mix where music from my ancestry sits alongside Ron Hardy inspired pumpers." - Nadia Ksaiba

PHANTASYMIX 55: FAFF
Following up their Phantasy debut with the wide-eyed and wistful ‘A Few Good Days’ EP in 2025, FAFF return to the fold with a much-anticipated mix that trips masterfully through their myriad influences, from offbeat techno and experiments in chug, UK hardcore, sizzling acid and dreamy electronica. Beginning with a deep cut from Leftfield and quickly shifting on to encompass the likes of Will Hofbeaur, ddwy and Miles j paralysis, FAFF continue to document the pressures and peculiarities of the London dance scene, via their sister party and label, Forever. PHANTASYMIX 55: FAFF is now streaming via Apple Music and Soundcloud.

PHANTASYMIX 54: Public Display of Affection
Public Display of Affection consists of Jonah Considine and Tam Tam, the core DJs, residents and organisers of Berlin soiree PDA, whose truly underground and headturning parties in the city act as a celebration of alternative dance culture. Optimo, Babyschon, Curses, John Loveless, Boys’ Shorts and our very own Erol Alkan are all artists who have guested at PDA, offering their take on PDA’s core sounds of disco, Italo, raw house and EBM sounds, a musical faultline that splinters out as far as London, Leeds, Brussels and Chicago. Public Display of Affection’s own marathon DJ sets regularly keep dancers rooted to the floor well into the following afternoon, an unpredictable, energetic and generous style captured in Considine and Tam Tam’s collaborative mix for Phantasy’s long-running series, featuring favourites and propulsive obscurities from DJ Hell, Michael Prince and Zillas on Acid. As per PDA’s slogan, “it’s not for the faint hearted.” “This mix is our interpretation of the Phantasy sonics. A selection of our favourite tripped-out records that capture the essence of our Progressive Disco Aciiiiiid sound.” - Public Display of Affection

PHANTASYMIX 53: Tom Sharkett
As a member of W.H. Lung, Tom Sharkett has provided electronics for one of the best bands in the UK, including on their most recent, critically acclaimed LP, ‘Every Inch of Earth Pulsates’. These DIY, indie-oriented experimentations have slowly led Sharkett to unexpected places as a solo artist in club culture, via the portal of Manchester’s legendary venue, The White Hotel, where he was inspired by inspired by cult nights such as Red Lazer and Wet Play, Sharkett has since collaborated with artists such as System Olympia and Raf Rundell, as well as appearing on Optimo Music and Okay Nature Records. His subtle, spirited edit of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Home’, released as a bootleg in early 2025, has recently re-emerged on DFA Records as an official release, just in time to become an unusual wistful summer anthem. Sharkett captures this fruitful moment in a contribution to Phantasy’s long-running mix series, which features a smattering of currently unreleased material, while bridging Cabaret Voltaire, Slowdive, Eden Burns and even Chappel Roan. True to the eclectic philosophy of Sharkett’s DJ and production trip so far, PHANTASYMIX 53 is a rare trip.

PHANTASYMIX 52: Casper Clark
Phantasy’s long-running mix series continues apace with a contribution from a key figure in London’s electronic and alternative underground, Casper Clark. Perhaps best known under his former Volte-Face alias, this wide-ranging hour finds Clark reigniting his fundamentally eclectic sensibility, seamlessly blending records from Black Merlin, Idjut Boys and The Parallax Corporation, spanning twenty-five years of music at the authentic margins. PHANTASYMIX 52 by Casper Clark is available to stream now from Apple Music and on Soundcloud, alongside dozens of mixes from the label archive. “I started DJing nearly 20 years ago, at least partially inspired by the way Erol used to play at Trash and later Bugged Out and beyond. I was lucky enough to book him over the years at our Adventures In The Beetroot Field parties as well as Field Day and even the Lock Tavern, which I used to programme back then. As I drifted more towards exploring techno under my Volte-Face moniker, our paths diverged somewhat, and a few years went by when I didn't bump into him or see him play all that often. So this mix feels like a homecoming of sorts, and an expression of a rekindled musical freedom and a cherished friendship. I even managed to squeeze in a track by Tiga, who was another formative influence for me. I hope it's as fun to listen to the mix as it was to make it.” - Casper Clark

PHANTASYMIX 51: DJ City
With character and a refreshing light-heartedness, DJ City has built a strong following on European dancefloors over the last few years. Drawing from both old school Chicago, Italo, and contemporary producers, he playfully navigates the elements that make up a well-constructed dance floor. After a string of releases on labels such as Public Possession, he now also runs BAD DAD, his own party in Berlin, within which he cultivates, experiments, and plays around with the fundamentals of what it is to be a DJ. For the 51st edition of PHANTASYMIX, he's on hand to present a contemporary but classic vista of the timeless four-to-the-floor sound: "There’s a lot happening in house music at the moment so I wanted to focus on recent releases for this mix. At the same time, you’ll hear a lot of grooves and moods that you'll instantly recognize and be familiar with. I love how House music always is referencing and pointing back in history. It constructs narratives and relationships that span time and space, something that feels extra important to me right now." DJ City

PHANTASYMIX 50: Factory Floor
The fiftieth edition of PHANTASYMIX arrives courtesy of our most recent signing, Factory Floor. Mixed and curated by both Nik Colk Void alongside long-term label associate Gabe Gurnsey, as well as new member Joe Ward, this momentous contribution to the label’s long-running series captures and combines many of the cult British band’s core influences, spanning New Order to Dean Blunt, Sandwell District, Drexciya and The Fall. Loaded with the band’s experimental, outsider spirit it’s a fine hour of physical, potent outsider music, including their recent single on Phantasy, ‘Between You’. “We’re happy to share with you a mix of our favourite current listening and inspiration ! A mix of our love for electronic and acoustic live performance and collaboration, past and contemporary. We hope you enjoy the journey!” - Factory Floor

PHANTASYMIX 49: Ariane V
The first edition of PHANTASYMIX in 2025 arrives courtesy of London’s much-loved Ariane V, a DJ and radio host who represents a new vanguard of generous selectors with an audible appreciation for dance music with depth and character. Beginning with a three-year stint building her taste and record collection from behind the counter at Phonica Records, Ariane’s knowledge and instincts for a great record have only deepened in the decade since. as exemplified not only by a tour schedule that has taken from London to Paris, Berlin and Barcelona, but weekly to Peckham, where her previous residency for Balaami FM saw her sharing the decks and the mic in conversation with DJs including Wallace, Colleen Cosmo Murphy, Mr. Ho and Moxie. Taking keen cue from Phantasy’s undercurrent of a ‘psychedelic sensibility’, Ariane V’s PHANTASYMIX blends the likes of Prince, CC:DISCO, Josh Caffe, Hardway Bros and more. Photo credit: Alex Rimmer

PHANTASYMIX 48: Talking Drums
Since their inception in 2018, Talking Drums have provided some of the most inventive, quietly sophisticated and all round highly sought-after dancefloor cuts on vinyl, providing an “a home for poorly executed dance moves, misjudged vibes and narcotic bravery.” Emanating from Manchester’s musical centre, and blurring the boundaries between edits and otherwise, Phantasy are delighted to have the minds behind jump from wax and into our long-running mix series… “We took a break from our full time hobby inventing increasingly idiotic DJ names to lay down a little bit of cosmic wobble, wormhole funk, daft disco and TD XXXclusives. Illicit edits, remixes for friends and a little OG energy suitable for all ages and most situations. Many thanks to the marvellous folks at Phantasy Sound for inviting us into their orbit.”

PHANTASYMIX 45: Kiaki
PHANTASYMIX returns with a fresh contribution from enigmatic producer Kiaki. Inspired by the ethos of our own Daniel Avery, alongside Aphex Twin and Detroit pioneers Drexciya, Kiaki specializes in deep, slow-mo, e-motional house and techno as well, punctured by the attitude and influences such as the gold-plated era of early 00s hip-hop. Having released on Man Power’s prolific, instinctive imprint Me Me Me and after fronting shows on Rinse and WWFM, Kiaki’s eclectic and thoughtful mix for Phantasy offers a journey from Kraftwerk through to Trikk, seamlessly linking Diana Ross and Acid Arab. Kiaki’s mix for Phantasy is now streaming on Apple Music and Mixcloud.

#PHANTASYMIX 44: Dar Disku
Already residents on Worldwide FM and one of Mixmag’s Breakthrough DJs of The Year in 2021, it’s a delight to welcome Dar Disku to Phantasy for a contribution to the #PHANTASYMIX series, eighty-three glorious minutes awash in the diverse, psychedelic fervor we can’t get enough, ranging from upfront, festival-ready disco to offbeat polyrhythms and boisterous folk mutations. Equally insightful and unpredictable, Dar Disku’s mix is a musical trip that keeps on giving.

#PHANTASYMIX 43: Jay Carder
This International Women’s Day, spend an hour deep in the passionate, versatile selections of Jay Carder. There are numerous sides to Jay Carder that demonstrate a DJ, promoter and radio host truly at ease with their own taste. Describing her selections as a “concoction of heavier, leftfield bass and lighter, psychedelic techno”, this is the sort of vibe that Carder delivers for her contribution to Phantasy’s mix series. For this bumping and classy hour, Carder connects her alignment with a resurgent UK underground transforming a legacy of garage and breaks - recent appearances on the decks have placed her alongside K-Lone and the Dr. Banana crew - with a trippy house aesthetic that’s more than familiar to Phantasy, just as Carder is to us. As you can see, she’s even repping the t-shirt.

A long-time favourite at Phantasy, we’re delighted to welcome Struiwigh for the latest edition of #PHANTASYMIX, which guides listeners down a deep, even meditative wormhole of rich techno and waves of diverse electronic textures. #PHANTASYMIX 39: Ambient Babestation Meltdown
Ambient Babestation Meltdown, otherwise known as Rachael Williams, is a true character. Her sets gravitate towards records old and new that pulse with energy, irony and intelligence, a sort of thinking-person’s party DJ, yet far less annoying than that might sound. As one half of DiASKi, alongside Joe Brooke-Smith, she produces sci-fi tinted trippers that will soon emerge on a debut record from DBA, and recently provided some different dystopian flavours to the newly maskless masses at Gala Festival. After delivering the mix, Ambient Babestation Meltdown briefly spoke to John Loveless about her musical heritage and selection. #PHANTASYMIX 37: Bakongo
Having already released on underground labels such as Livity Sound and Trule, Bakongo has made a serious impact over the past year or two, capturing the ears of dancers and collectors even without the benefit of a sub-heavy dancefloor to showcase his productions, which blend elements of “techno, garage, dub and broken beats’, spun and reinterpreted with understanding and imagination. Better known as Roska, in a recent, wide-ranging interview with Beatport, Goodlitt pondered “What happens to funky the other nine months of the year when there’s no sun shining?”. Just as it begins to appear again, Goodlitt switches to Bakongo and answers this question fair-and-square, generously gifting Phantasy an hour full of upcoming material, collaborations and edits, as well as material from the likes of Chrissy, DJ Gregory and LSDXOXO. Collectively, it amounts to irresistible body music, brightly beaming down but not without a touch of grit and darkness. Accompanying the mix, Bakongo spoke to John Loveless in May 2021, via email. U - Ecstasy
Out now on 12" vinyl + digitally: lnk.to/UPH102 An infrequent but invigorating contributor to Phantasy, U returns with a beguiling new single entitled ‘Ecstasy’. Initially available as a limited pressing with a sleeve designed and printed by U themselves, this haunting return promises to draw the curious into two divine rhythms, transferring unknowable forces and mysterious energies. The first side of the artefact portrays ‘Ecstasy’, a wide-eyed and spectral incantation rich in intimacy, whispering voices and earthy psychedelia. Somewhere between machine funk and folk canticle, a sonic gift perhaps for a field in England bathed in moonlight, else a dire basement dripping in energy, ‘Ecstasy’ leaves the system almost spiritually. On the contrary, ‘Morpheus’ presents a tougher meditation, a creeping jam with an analogue consciousness, ghostly rave echoes and a conundrum at its heart. The dream seems so real, but what if you can’t wake from it after all?

#PHANTASYMIX 36: Lupini
Lupini has slowly, quietly established herself as a pivotal figure in Liverpool’s alternative music scene. Recently introduced to a wider audience via her recent NTS residency (already a firm favourite at Phantasy HQ), she’s known in Merseyside as a DJ, promoter, radio station manager and all-round enthusiast of no small repute. As is obvious, Lupini’s life revolves around music, and in turn, music revolves around her. This sincere eclecticism, reflected in her typically thoughtful contribution to #PHANTASYMIX, soaks up dubby overtures, dreamy new wave and escalating percussive jams, switching between energy modes with open-mindedness but rare authority. Accompanying the mix, Lupini spoke to John Loveless about the post-COVID challenges and opportunities in the Liverpool music scene, warping between genres and the joy of a big, silly acid line. #PHANTASYMIX 35: Kasper Marott
Brimming with energy and optimism, Kasper Marott contributes to our #PHANTASYMIX series with a high-energy techno trip full of character. Kasper Marrott has been fascinated with dance music since his teenage years in the Danish countryside, programming music since the age of ten and dreaming of big, bouncing dancefloors. Far removed from the Deadmau5 copycat tunes he made on Fruity Loops throughout his teens, Marrott saw his dream come true some years later, when he became one of a number of DJs spearheading the so-called ‘fast techno’ scene emerging from Copenhagen a few years ago. Alongside the mix, Kasper spoke to John Loveless about the Swedish scene, capturing emotion and the importance of country and folk music. #PHANTASYMIX 31: Lou Hayter
Lou Hayter has been a recognisable face on the London music scene since the mid-noughties, when she rose to prominence as part of the ludicrously stylish Mercury nominated electro-pop band, New Young Pony Club. Since then, she has maintained a presence at the always-evolving intersection between music and fashion, building a reputation as a DJ as comfortable at peak-time in the basement of XOYO as at the launches of some of the world’s most desirable brands (Chanel, Miu Miu, Chloe and Paul Smith all have Hayter on their books). Lou Hayter’s contribution to the #PHANTASYMIX series weaves similarly singular gems against a steady thread of disco and deep house, featuring music from Moodymann, Maria Minerva and Dream 2 Science. #PHANTASYMIX 29: Valesuchi
Valesuchi is much tuned into the necessary physicality and community of dance music, “choosing people’s bodies as a limitless answer.” A fixture across Brazil’s lively club scene, long since proving herself as one of the country’s wiliest and most intuitive selectors, she has shifted fluidly not only between the lively but divergent city scenes of Santiago and Rio De Janeiro, but also maintained a presence on the European club circuit. Of course, much has changed in 2020, but between this contribution to #PHANTASYMIX and a blinding Resident Advisor podcast earlier in 2020, not to mention patience, good humour and the remunerations and remixes of her superb album TRAGICOMIC, Valesuchi continues as one of club culture’s most exciting and eclectic figures. Expect an hour of unpredictable gems, cross-genre discovery and undeniable, critical rhythms.

#PHANTASYMIX 28: ELLES
ELLES may be a relative newcomer on the London scene, but her sound and discography already makes an impression. This is a run that continues on her contribution to #PHANTASYMIX, undoubtedly one of our most inventive entries yet. Whilst ELLES’ releases thus far have have found an open-hearted queer futurism in the legacy of UK rave and especially UK garage (see ‘Put On Our Classics’ from the ‘summer_of_love’ EP on Naive for a perfect demonstration of this distillation), this mix sees ELLES masterfully reduce the pace to an outright meditative pace, then gradually release that same pent-up club energy like a whistling kettle. Featuring music from the likes of Loraine James, Actress, Arca and Charlotte Adigery, ELLES celebrates powerful songwriting and production from some of the most forward-thinking artists in contemporary electronic music, mixed with the emerging tension of a quality house and techno set. Tune in, drift off and think towards that brighter future.

#PHANTASYMIX 27: Stranded
Atlanta-based producer Stranded melts boundaries between post-punk, Midwestern house and trip-hop to vital effect in the latest edition of our #PHANTASYMIX series. Stranded’s stellar #PHANTASYMIX takes in a journey that encompasses both future-facing and roots focused electronic music that easily bridges ideas of rock and electronic music, featuring Killing Joke, Moodymann, Andrea, DJ Krush and Altered Natives.

#PHANTASYMIX 24: Jordan
Jordan has been DJing for a long time. More than half his lifetime, in fact. While most of us were studying for our high school exams, Jordan was zipping across Ireland with a roped-in mate, playing all manner of rowdy clubs, often lacking the ID requirements that would typically get him bounced from the door. What’s more, he wasn’t a national sensation with a hit single, he just fucking loved it. Eventually, Jordan walked a Radio 1 competition that saw him play in front of a home crowd of 10000 people in his home city of Belfast. He was sixteen years old. While this may sound like the beginning of a particularly salacious Netflix documentary, we don’t need to ask “But where’s Jordan now?”, because he’s here, delivering the latest edition in the #PHANTASYMIX series. Between now and then, he’s maintained face as one of the most skilled DJs in Belfast, a city that thanks to it’s dedicated crowd and AVA Festival, has developed a burgeoning reputation as a hotbed of electronic music. Jordan helped build that foundation, co-running The Night Institute party for many years, hosting international names and then wisely scaling things back to a wide-ranging rave based on the skills of himself and fellow DJ Timmy Stewart. More recently, Jordan has been dancing down multiple avenues. As well as traversing Europe as a DJ, his Nocturne edits series have become some of the most sought-after slabs of wax in the market, beloved by Gerd Janson, Kornel Kovacs and our own Erol Alkan. His halcyon solo productions on Belters and Loose Fit have a luminescent, timeless quality that recalls Orbital or The Chemical Brothers alongside his constantly refreshed record collection from a bubbling underground. And now he’s here for the #PHANTASYMIX. Alongside the music, he spoke to John Thorp about those wild early days, the perfect edit, the Belfast music scene and the potential effects of the recent pandemic. #PHANTASYMIX 22: The Golden Filter

Consisting of the creative and romantic partnership of Penelope Trapps and Stephen Hindman, the past few years have been the band enjoy their widest success yet. Releasing not only on their own 4gn3s imprint, but Optimo Music and Dischi Autumno, they built on a trilogy of much-loved releases for The Vinyl Factory to produce singles and releases that have been played by DJs including Ben UFO, Jennifer Cardini and Ame. Their propulsive, thrilling new mix for Phantasy reflects the bands forward-thinking musical vision, indebted to a rich history of EBM, electro, techno and post-punk. Featuring artists including Boy Harsher, Tom Of England, Aleksi Perälä and Intergalactic Gary, alongside a few classics, it’s a rhythmic ode to raw electronics and dancefloor imagination. Pris has been present and correct on the techno scene since 2013, initially making an impact on Resin and later releasing across tastemaking, singular labels such as Avian and Semantica. Pris’s music has always had a vulnerable quality weaved into powerful, dynamic tracks that became favourites amongst many of the vanguard of the scene and on vast, demanding sound systems. This unusual, sometimes wistful quality has evolved into an exciting new form through the medium of his new label, Empathy Corp, a striking mixed-media project founded alongside creative partner, Deejay Astral. The latest release from Pris himself, 'Sulphur City', has just hit stores. In a similar mould, and reflecting a philosophy that has evolved both emotionally and intellectually, Pris’s contribution to #PHANTASYMIX is involving, sophisticated techno that wears its heart on sleeve. #PHANTASYMIX 19: Body Horror [Bleaching Agent & The Niallist]
The past few years have seen a new-wave of exciting and daring parties re energise the Manchester scene, many taking place at the now notorious White Hotel and often within a daring continuum of queer and alternative rave culture. Alongside the likes of Kiss Me Again, High Hoops and the timeless Homoelectric, Body Horror has made sheer impact with occasional but unforgettable transmissions of filth and fury from an uncompromising collective. Lead by resident DJs Bleaching Agent and The Niallist, two veterans of the UK noise and techno scene who will doubtlessly be familiar to panel-beating enthusiasts world over, Body Horror speaks for the pair’s shared, lifelong passionate pursuit of “bad taste, glamour and extreme noise terror”. Featuring one of the rawest, wildest dance floors imaginable and tone-setting performance from bloodthirsty drag acts, each ritual of body-positive carnage is accompanied by a soundtrack that veers from unapologetic Italo, nosebleed techno to truly weird no-wave and EBM. In similar spirit, their contribution to #PHANTASYMIX sounds something like Claudio Simonetti going B2B with Ron Hardy. This is pure, grotty bits-of-body music for dark souls with a good sense of humour.

#PHANTASYMIX 17: Cardopusher
Born in Venezuela and long-since based in Barcelona, Cardopusher has established himself as one of the most consistent and versatile heads in the city’s bubbling underground, with a sound that has travelled far-and-wide to labels such as Hyperdub, Boys Noize, Super Rhythm Trax and more recently, Dark Entries. Cardopusher urges things in a similarly frenetic direction for our #PHANTASYMIX series, delivering a substantial hour-long mix that wastes little time in generating dancefloor-friendly heat, ripping through a number of his own productions and similarly body-oriented jams courtesy of Locked Club & RLGN, Kris Baha, Miami Band and Qual. Suffice to say, this isn’t one for your ambient #chillout session. #PHANTASYMIX 15: Dark Circles
Dark Circles have only been releasing music over the past few years, each time with infrequency but serious impact, and always on their own, specially tailored imprint, DC Trax. They also nailed a weird and wonderful remix of Phantasy’s own Future Four (a creative partnership between Erol Alkan and The Emperor Machine founder, Andy Meecham), which has become a go-to selection for the likes of Gerd Janson. Consisting of the acid-tinged dream team of Iain Bogg and Matthew Waites, both of whom have been DJing for decades, the music of Dark Circles is a case study in the power of acid techno, with shades of Chicago jack and even the vintage days of proper proggy house. We caught up with DC’s own beloved North-Londoner, Iain Bogg, to talk formative influences, the benefits of running your own imprint and why despite their fruitful studio partnership, we might not be hearing a Dark Circles LP anytime soon >> phantasy-sound.lnk.to/blog Follow Dark Circles: https://www.facebook.com/dark.circles1/ https://www.twitter.com/dark__circles https://open.spotify.com/artist/43pj4N1pZ37GsqCFt1C0QV?si=pzn-6rE0Ryysp_emw29YSg
