Pluie/Noir Podcast 063 - 'Effervescent Tablet In A Floating Ball' by Orbe

Pluie/Noir Podcast 063 "Effervescent Tablet In A Floating Ball" Sound by https://soundcloud.com/orbeartist Visual Interpretation by Jon Video by Max Binski Pluie/Noir Podcast is a bi-monthly audio-visual episode representing our work as an artist collective. Each episode will feature a one hour collage/mix by one of our producers/djs and a poster triptych by one of our designers. We interviewed both artists and dropped some questions about their vision: ORBE Hello Fernando. Welcome to P/N. How are you feeling? Hello guys, I’m happy to get on board. since the beginning i’ve been comfortable with my friend Bruno, we have the same goal and the same aspirations in music, and i think that we’ll do good things together. So i feel very happy to work with the P/N crew. Orbe Records is active since 2014 with 3 very solid releases. What are your plans for the near future regarding your imprint? Yes, like you said we have 3 vinyls on record stores worldwide so far. we are a young vinyl-only label but i hope that we’ll remain as so for a long time. our next two releases signed by myself as ORBE will be out in January, two special white vinyls to start the year with a good momentum, and to mark the beginning of a new age, new sounds, and new ideas. i hope to close 5 releases in 2016: for the sixth, we will make a repress of a classic track from US guys called “we left the planet” (by steve Stoll & Damon wild), with remixes of Eduardo De La Calle and myself; and for the next i would like to improvise something fresh. Production and djing seem to take a big chunk of your daily life. Do you have any other passion? I think it does take a big chunk of my life, but yes,i like to spend time with my friends and family, i like sports, love the landscapes, the sea, go for run , walk in the city or walk among nature, or go to the beach. it depends on the moment. it’s always good for later inspiration in the studio.. i need this energy to work, these things help me to make new music, everything is connected in the end. Tell us about your podcast. What inspires you and how did you record it? My PN podcast is a mix of old and new tracks, all on vinyl. i selected differents vinyls according to the moment. In this case, it’s a mix of techno, house, and of course very deep, timeless songs with a slow bpm. It was recorded in my house, with dim light. I enjoyed it a lot while i was recording it as i felt very free. Thanks PN for invite me. JON Hey Jon, welcome back. How’ve you been? Hello! I’m great. Properly stuffed over Xmas food. Back to work now… What’s your favorite illustration topic? And your inspirations? I like to draw anything that is Natural, specially people. I have a peculiar fascination for the female body since I can remember, I guess this is my favorite thing to draw. I get my inspiration from the daily life.. the movement of the city, the rush-hour runs to the metro, the late night talks. Again, anything that is actually part of my daily life. What was your inspiration for this triptych? Orbe’s podcast is incredibly groovy. There’s a deeply sexy vibe going on, something that took me to glamorous dance clubs or even fashion show runways done with class and wit. I ended up depicting something sexy as well.. again, related to the female body and its poise. Does Lisbon inspire you in some way? Goals for 2016? Definitely, from the incredible light of this city to the small details of the landscape. Small details like street benches or tight alleys have a great impact on me, creatively and personally. For 2016, I want to develop my own illustration style even further. Invest on collaborations such as the one I recently did for LeCool and maybe start a series of curated illustrations. links: www.facebook.com/orbeartist www.orberecords.com www.behance.net/joaorsaude www.facebook.com/monsieurjrs http://cargocollective.com/joaorsaude/ subscribe to our newsletter at: www.pluienoir.com mail: [email protected]

[PNR007] A1. "Esti" (low quality snippet)

Düve — “Hargate” — Vinyl EP A1 "Esti" 4:29 A2 "Hargate" 10:29 B1 "Yek Tas" 7:29 B2 "Sehayat" 7:25 "Düve is a very mysterious project, probably due to the intense (albeit exotic) eastern folk instrumentation that populate their sonic structures. René Audiard & Ali Çakır have been exploring a bit of it all from crunchy techno grooves to emotionally charged slow drives, and together they managed to create a very peculiar sonic balance that captivates from the moment it passes our ears. Düve’s “Hargate” is a four-part voyage through the intricate musical roots, complex poli-rhythms and warm musicality of the eastern mediterranean lands. ’Esti’ (A1) starts the EP in pure instrumental glory. Played by Adam Birson, the melody from the Oud is loud, ethereal and emotionally charged, topped with sparkles of modulated synth patterns and pulsing noises for full meditative effect. The EP’s title track ‘Hargate’ (A2) is soaked in a sort of nostalgia for sun-bathed Turkish soils, but under it there’s an ever-moving train of remarkable rhythmic endulgence and a very human sense of groove. A tour-de-force in balance between musicality and arrangement that stays with you like fata morgana. The flip-side goes deeper and darker in ambience. While ‘Yek Tas’ (B1) is a 4-by-4 hichhicker’s guide through underground Istanbul and built around the tension and release of drum-echoes and reverberized pads, “Sehayat” (B2) brings back the sound (and emotion) of Ali’s darbuka/santur and Soren’s complex drum arrangements for a slow, dreamy drive. This EP was visually interpreted by Juli Jah in a hand-made artistic depiction of Istanbul, extraordinarily fitting to this installment of an ever strengthening series of releases Pluie/Noir collectors grew accustomed to. Pluie/Noir Podcast 062 - "As I Am, It Shall Be" by Thoreau

Pluie/Noir Podcast 062 "As I Am, It Shall Be" Sound Mixed & Compiled by https://soundcloud.com/thoreau-bectate Visual Interpretation by Duduchava Thoreau: Hi Beca, welcome. How's everything? I'm kind of living a never ending trip right now. Both figuratively and literally! Just when I think I'm grasping some sense of stability and reality, it shape-shifts. So, I would say, good! You're from Sydney, currently living in Berlin. How's Berlin treating you so far? It is a city of complete extremes. It is like being in a toxic relationship. It is totally addictive, incredibly challenging, life changing, mesmerising and a love I'lll remember for the rest of my life. The artistic vision here is far greater then I could ever imagine. I'm lucky to be here. You have a strong relation to arts and music. What have you been doing? I don't feel like I have been overly creative lately. My musical ear is evolving and maturing rapidly. As it was a spontaneous decision to stay here, I have been focusing on trying to build a new life. So getting inspired by bureaucracy, finding a home, getting a bank account and a job.. Really artistic stuff! But honestly, life is evolving really quickly, so I think 2016 will be an interesting one for me with music, dance, and hopefully a bit of writing. Highlights: Smaller parties outside of clubs. I am totally amazed at what people can organise here and that they are much more open minded (musically) to anything I have experienced back home. I adore this purist approach as it aligns with my musical philosophy. I am interested to see what comes from it. What were your inspirations and how did you record the podcast? This year, even though I have had very little time for music, I have seen it as a vehicle for learning to be confident to express and connect with the rawest part of myself. I have a fascination with the beauty in darkness and why it makes people so uncomfortable. This mix tests myself on one level to not delve into it too quickly, but also to try to challenge people to sit with it and observe it, hopefully feel it's moving/evocative nature. I am relatively new to DJing, I am a little hesitant to put myself out there. So I really appreciated Bruno's encouragement to do whatever I felt like. I think this platform is so important for both artists and listeners to ensure that music continues to evolve and progress in an intelligent, honest manner. Tools: a bottle of wine, 2 cdj's and a Xone DB4. It was done in one go. Tracks were so immersive, it was like a form of meditation for me. Hopes & Dreams for 2016? Buy hardware. Find time for music. Find balance and continue to find myself! Duduchava: Welcome to our Podcast Series. How's everything? You do paintings and also collages. Where does your inspiration come from? I'm excellent. It seems like a simple question, but answering it's very difficult. I start something, and in the end, usually, i get something unexpected and very interesting. I'm fond of technology, the cosmos and the universe. It's a result of my preferences from different images that I find on the web or created by myself. My source of inspiration is a world beyond reality. How did Beca's Podcast influence your visual interpretation? I was inspired by the name "Thoughts of the Soul". The podcast allowed me to see three types of way of life and thoughts of a human. My illustrations expresses three possible facades of a human soul: Liberty, the ordinary and loneliness Where can we see your work? Any exhibitions? You can find my work on the my website duduchava.com. I'll hope to showcase my works in Russia and possibly worldwide. Hopes and Dreams for 2016? I hope the world becomes peaceful in the near future, without wars, and i wish i'll be able to showcase my work more often. links: www.soundcloud.com/thoreau-bectate www.duduchava.com

Masters of a infinite number of stripped down, funk infused brands of electronic music, the japanese crews of music makers are usually teams of noble perfectionists. Consistently shining a bright guiding light on the japanese scene, Radiq (aka Yoshihiro Hanno) remains one of Japans best exports and the reflection of what it means to be a true musician while managing his own japan-talent-only imprint Op.Disc with wit and will. “Rhapsody” adds to the chameleon’s release catalog a 4-tracker of deep musicality, expansive 4x4 examinations and textured realms that ebb and flow between dance-focused sonatas and the kaleidoscopic intimate travels, and ultimately begging a listen all the way through. The title track ‘Rhapsody’ (A) is Yoshihiro‘s signature exploration of humanized rhyrhms, crisp claps and deep low-ends that ebb and flow with a very peculiar organic steadiness. “Circulatory Breathes” (B) uses micro-house patterns as starting point to build something more intricate where robotic movements remain constantly intertwined with amoebic perc-samples, vocal snippets, groove swings and jazzy synths. Pluie/Noir Podcast 061 - "The Encrypted Mind" by Andrea Cichecki

Pluie/Noir Podcast 061 "The Encrypted Mind" Sound Mixed & Compiled by www.soundcloud.com/andrea-cichecki Visual Interpretation by Juli Jah Pluie/Noir Podcast is a bi-monthly audio-visual episode representing our work as an artist collective. Each episode will feature a one hour collage/mix by one of our producers/djs and a poster triptych by one of our designers. Andrea Cichecki: " Tribute to my Dad" Juli Jah: 1.Welcome back Juli, how is everything? Guys hey, all good, thanks. One of those mornings with pancakes and a cup of milk in bed. Saving myself for tonight. Literally everything is perfect. 2.Workwise you seem very active. What have you been working on lately? I didn't have anything very big in the last weeks. Record covers casually, other projects occasionally. I started to paint more for my own pleasure, the Brutal Murder Chicks are back on track, finally. 3. This time you were responsible for the artwork of Andrea's podcast, what can you tell us about your visual interpretation of it? I am totally in line with the sound. I should say, Cichecki did a great job. Shortly, woman power. 4. When and where is your next exhibition? Can't say something exact. I had two exhibitions this year, and both aboard Berlin, hope to manage something here very soon. 5. Hopes and Dreams for 2016. The spontaneity is enough. links: www.soundcloud.com/andrea-cichecki www.julijah.com subscribe to our newsletter at: www.pluienoir.com

    Pluie/Noir Podcast 060 - "Live In 2013" by Nitz

Pluie/Noir Podcast 060 "Live in 2013" Sound Mixed & Performed Live by www.soundcloud.com/nitz Visual Interpretation by Max Binski Pluie/Noir Podcast is a bi-monthly audio-visual episode representing our work as an artist collective. Each episode will feature a one hour collage/mix by one of our producers/djs and a poster triptych by one of our designers. Interview to Nitz: 1. Welcome back to the series mr Nitz. How have you been? Thank you for inviting me again Bruno. It's been some interesting yet bumpy few months, but things are getting in its place again. So i have to say, all good! 2.Slovenia has a great deal of enormously talented artists. How's Ljubljana's audio-visual scene? A lot of talents have evolved during these few years. Despite our small scene, the bond is getting stronger and stronger. Artists are finally collaborating more, new labels are in the making, some great young bands/performers were born. Some of the artists are getting more and more recognition in the music world. Looking forward for the next few years, it should be exciting. 3.'Live in 2013'.. How and Where was this recorded? What was your inspiration? It was recorded on the slovenian festival MED in Maribor 2013. I was invited there to play and do a live warmup for Andy Stott. He had a great influence on me in the past, so it was a great honour for me to play before him. This was my second live ever, so naturally it has some amateur mistakes inside :) The live was made directly out of Reason, just switching beetween projects on the spot and trigging sounds manually, so that is why the live is evolving a bit slower than it maybe should, because the interface wasn't meant for that. It's slow motion tempo (105 bpm), not that usual for the genre i normaly play live, but that kind of sticked to me until now. 4.What have you been busy with lately? Well i'm trying to finish some of my production that i was working on in the past year, but i'm getting there slowly. The inspiration is a bit scarse at the moment. But we started a new ambient project called II/III with a harpist Urška Preis. It's a nice combination of electric harp and ambient drones and structures. After two shows that we had, the project seems to have great potential. Also expecting the new Chilli Space compilation, the deadline is getting close as we speak. 5.Future plans, hopes and dreams ? Just finish as much tracks as i can, release it and do a new live. The plan is to do some collaborations with some of the slovenian producers in the future and just try to put more focus on the music as i did until now. Also want to play outside of Slovenia for a change. links: www.soundcloud.com/nitz www.maxbinski.com subscribe to our newsletter at: www.pluienoir.com
