Poet, Lover, Friend.
by Aminah Faubert
It's your poet, lover, friend, Aminah Faubert. I have always had a deep interest in using words for self-expression. I'm a poet and a storyteller from the island of Dominica in the Caribbean. My writing journey began at the age of eight, but, it wasn't until I emigrated to Canada and faced several life challenges, that I honed in again on my passion for poetry. In this podcast, I use poetry to reflect on my experiences as an immigrant and black woman, including challenges with health, love, homelessness, and racism, which have shaped my views on life, faith, and politics. I invite you to listen and let this be a validating space where you can feel encouraged to advocate for self-belief, collective purpose, and joy as a form of resistance and generational healing.
