Beatitudes: Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

What does ‘persecuted for the sake of righteousness’ look like? It may look like ‘being cancelled’ or ‘being written off’. How do we respond? We may hear questionable comments in our Christian circles - what do we do? Do we sharpen each other by calling out things that may not be biblical? What is our measuring stick to know what is true and what is not?We find similarities with other beatitudes in this 8th and final beatitude. And how Jesus is our example to live a fruitful life. Beatitudes: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Are you a pot-stirrer or a peacemaker? What does a peacemaker look like? Do we view others through our lens or Jesus’ lens? Jesus is the Prince of Peace - our example.Sometimes keeping the peace can be hard. BUT we have God to help us, through prayer, to keep peace and to have peace with others. Being IN the world and not OF the world is important in our day-to-day living. Some of the Beatitudes seem to correlate with each other. We talk about that today, too. Beatitudes: Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

How’s your heart? We are born into sin, so we’re naturally self-focused. When we choose to follow God, our heart grows closer to good and right things and a pure heart.David was faithful to the Lord BUT he messed up, too. How did he address this with the Lord? Spoiler Alert: We’ll mess up too! How do we address things with the Lord when we mess up?It’s a great discussion today! Listen in to a conversation about the 6th Beatitude from the book of Matthew. Beatitudes: Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Mercy is an attribute of God’s character.  God showed us mercy through Jesus Christ. When we choose to follow Jesus, we follow his example of showing mercy to others. Hear a discussion on the 5th beatitude about Mercy, and shares from Bethany and Carol in this episode.A heart of compassion is tied to showing mercy. How do we show compassion? Do we show compassion for the lost… the hurting… for our neighbor, co-worker, or family member? And don't forget the widow and orphan.Sometimes we don’t feel equipped. But knowing God will equip us gives us the strength to take that step to show mercy and compassion.Ponder Point: If God puts it on your heart to do something, He's going to make it work for our good. Beatitudes: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. This fourth Beatitude from Jesus prompts us to look outwardly. What are we ‘hungry and thirsty’ for in the world? How do we become satisfied? Our soul longs to be filled with something. What do we fill it with? What’s interesting is that righteousness is an attribute of God’s character. When our focus is more towards God - things of the world don’t matter as much.Hear the discussion and shares on how to achieve the blessing of being satisfied in your life in this episode centered on the 4th beatitude.ReferencesBook: Be.Attitudes by Kathy A. Beatitudes: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Meek = Timid? Wimpy? Weak? Nope. We are digging into what meekness looks like, as we study the third Beatitude from Jesus' sermon on the mount."Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Matthew 5:5Meek people put others first. Sometimes our emotions get in the way and it’s not easy to do that! Do we get defensive? Do we want our way? Yes, we can be that way. But as we get closer to God, He shows us how to be meek, like Him.As we go through the Beatitudes we are finding humbleness as a theme.Hear our discussion about being “Strongly Gentle” or “Resolute”, a.k.a.  being confident in your conviction of doing what’s right in God’s eyes.  And so much more with stories, and examples of people in the bible who were meek.Tune in to our study on the Beatitudes.ReferencesBook: Be.Attitudes by Kathy A. Beatitudes: Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

The second beatitude is about mourning and comfort. That’s what we’re talking about today. Have you taken time to mourn? Do we ever mourn the sins we have? Who gives us comfort and when?"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comfortedListen to a discussion on both physical and spiritual mourning. We all have a sin nature, so we will inevitably do the wrong thing. Beatitudes: Intro and Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessedness. This is all about the beginning of the sermon on the mount that Jesus taught his disciples and the large mass of people that gathered to listen. We’re discussing the 8 beatitudes this summer, one beatitude at a time, and we’re also looking at them collectively as a whole.Matthew 5:1-10 NASB5:1 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 5:2 He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying, 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5:5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 5:10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”In this first beatitude, it’s about looking at ourselves.  What is the state of our heart?  Are we being prideful or humble? Jesus teaches us how to live a fruitful life.
