Love Wins: Dr. Don Barden on Why Women Running the World Is Already Inevitable

What if the biggest economic revolution in history is already underway... and women are leading it? In this landmark episode, Angela Gennari sits down with Dr. Don Barden... globally recognized behavioral economist, leadership expert, and author of the #1 Amazon bestseller Here Come the Girls — for a conversation that is part data, part revelation, and completely unmissable. Dr. Barden spent nearly five years conducting doctoral-level research on women in leadership around the world. What he found will change the way you see business, culture, and your own future. In this episode you'll discover: — Why women-led businesses outperform male-led businesses 3-to-1 in revenue and profit — The three-step leadership formula female executives use that men almost never do (sympathy → empathy → empowerment) — Why 94% of employees who bring a problem to their boss already know how to solve it — and what happens when leaders trust that — The science behind why your energy arrives before you do (and lingers after you leave) — Why women-led businesses have double the employee retention — and why productivity actually goes UP in years 4, 5, and 6 — How collaboration is replacing mergers and acquisitions — and why women are driving that shift — Dr. Barden's bold forecast: a coming economic boom bigger than the agricultural, industrial, and dot-com revolutions combined Plus — Dr. Barden is offering free e-copies of both The Perfect Plan and Here Come the Girls to anyone who reaches out and mentions this podcast. This is the first time Angela has ever featured a man on the Pretty Powerful Podcast — and after this episode, you'll understand exactly why she made an exception.

    Episode 133: Karen Olson

Some moments change everything. For Karen Olson, it was a conversation with a homeless woman named Millie on a New York City sidewalk—an encounter so simple, yet so profound, it led her to leave behind a thriving marketing career and devote her life to fighting family homelessness. Karen went on to build Family Promise, one of the most impactful organizations addressing homelessness in America. She’s the author of Meant for More, a woman of quiet power, and a living example of what it means to answer the call—even when it pulls you off the well-worn path. Her story is one of legacy, leadership, and love—and it’s exactly the reminder we all need right now: that true success isn’t found in titles or accolades, but in the lives we touch along the way. As this season of the Pretty Powerful Podcast comes to a close, I couldn’t imagine a more meaningful conversation to end on. I’m taking a short break to reflect, realign, and reimagine what’s next for this platform—but the mission remains the same: to celebrate the women who dare to make a difference. Thank you for listening, for showing up, and for believing in the power of women's voices. Pick up Meant for More and learn more about Family Promise. ❤️ The journey isn’t over. Just evolving. Stay tuned.

    Episode 104: Carrie Colbert

Few things matter more to me than supporting women-owned businesses, especially given the barriers they face. Despite receiving less than 3% of VC funding, research consistently shows that women-led companies deliver a higher ROI and embody conscientious, responsible leadership. Carrie Colbert, founder of Curate Capital, is transforming this landscape by investing in women-led ventures. Since launching Curate Capital in 2021, she raised $15 million—surpassing her original goal by 50%—with a majority of her investors being women. Carrie’s insights have been featured in Forbes, TechCrunch, and PaperCity Magazine, and she's a sought-after speaker. This is a compelling conversation you won’t want to miss.
