Prevention Podcast

AIR (Adventures in Recovery) is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) that is dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and welcoming space for individuals to connect with peer support through adventure, wellness, and exciting events. In this episode, we learn all about AIR with some of the experts and program facilitators from around the region.

In this episode, we talk with Mary White, who is a Prevention Specialist in Livingston County and facilitator of "Triple P" at CASA Trinity. "Triple P" is short for "Positive Parenting Program," and we're also joined by one of the parents who successfully completed this program with Mary. 

In this episode, we're joined by Lydia Boyd, Prevention Specialist in Livingston County. Lydia talks about the "Shauna Has a Secret" program, which is a unique opportunity for parents to explore a model bedroom and learn about signs that might indicate their child or teenager needs support.

Tracy Rozanski is a Prevention Volunteer in Livingston County. In this episode we talk about the "40 Developmental Assets," which are a set of positive experiences, values, and relationships that can help young people grow up to be healthy, caring, and responsible adults. 

Michelle Williams is a Prevention Volunteer in Tioga County. In this episode she shares information about evolving trends in the national and local landscape related to drug abuse and substance availability. 

Abby Watson is a Prevention Specialist in the Spencer Van Etten School District. In this episode, she talks about some of the programs provided to students in that district, including "Teen Intervene," a 1-on-1 program with teens who struggle with substance misuse. 

In this episode, Sean Lukasik is joined by Mae Stadelmaier and Carrier Brown, Prevention Specialists from Cattaraugus County. Mae and Carrie discuss the details of the CASA Trinity WISE Program (Wellness Initiative for Senior Education). 

Jessica Fierro - Chemung County Community Prevention Specialist - joins the Prevention Podcast to discuss peer pressure facing middle and high school students, and how they can find healthy ways to cope.

Kate Freeman and Stephanie Kubiak - Prevention Specialists from Cattaraugus County - join the Prevention Podcast to talk about "Project Sticker Shock," an initiative designed to stop adults from buying alcohol for minors.

Anthony Hooks - Chemung County Community Prevention Specialist - joins the Prevention Podcast to talk about changes in marijuana regulations across New York State, and how these changes could be harmful to young people in our community. 

In the pilot episode, we talk with Christina Olevano, Tioga County Prevention Supervisor. Christina shares ideas and recommendations for stress management and talks about the evolution of prevention education and training.
