Welcome to Project Give Back Connects, Season 5, Episode 1. In this episode you meet a pioneer and legend in the field of Mindfulness. Dr. Ellen J. Langer is the first woman to be tenured at Harvard University. She is famously regarded as 'The Mother of Mindfulness'. Her epic and groundbreaking research demonstrates how our thoughts and beliefs directly influence our health. She says, "When we change what we think, we change what is possible." A massive Project Give Back Connects welcome to the one and only, Dr. Ellen J. Langer.

This episode is dedicated to finding a way to slow down our inner selves when life is racing on. We have some spectacular experts who will teach us accessible techniques to help us connect to calm. I can’t wait to fill up my tool kit with more tricks to help when I am scared and worried. I know these will help you too. An episode for all ages.

This Episode, "Food for Thought," features the CEO of The Daily Bread Food Bank, Neil Hetherington. He will share the How Why and What we can do, regarding food insecurity in our city. This episode we will be treated to a song by the extremely talented Halle Burnett. We also have a challenge by Lianne and Cassandra from our Kindness Corner segment. And surprise co- host Riley.

Grief can be overwhelming. It hits us all, whether we are 8 or 88. In this episode, we will meet Lisa Robinson, the grief counsellor who helped our family at our lowest and most vulnerable time. She will guide us through techniques and coping mechanisms that can help us as we grieve. We will also be serenaded by the dynamic sister duo of Abby and Sarah. Beverly and I will read our newly published, The Puddle Jumper, a children’s book to help navigate the confusing feelings of grief and loss.

This season promises to continue to bring you doses of inspiration from heroes in our community who are making such an impact. In this episode, you will meet Rachel Chernos Lin, Chair of the Toronto District School Board. You will also be treated to a song by the very talented Ethan Young. We are thrilled to introduce you to Kindness Corner’s new hosts, Lianne and Cassandra.

This episode features community leaders who lead by example. We are so lucky to learn from them as they share their priceless wisdom and lessons with us. We welcome Michael Kalles (President of Harvey Kalles Real Estate Ltd., Brokerage), Jay Rosenzweig (Founder of Rosenzweig and Company), Dr. Jeremy Friedman (Associate Pediatrician-in-Chief at SickKids Hospital, and Lily Librach, (singer, dancer, and actress). Our first guest is the phenomenal Audrey Guth, founder of the Nanny Angel Network, the only organization in North America providing ‘Nanny Angels’ to children ages 12 and under whose moms have cancer or are in palliative care. Next, you will meet the dynamic mother/daughter team of Nicolle Georgiev and Sophia Megan, Founders of the Super Sophia Project. To date, The Super Sophia Project has gifted over 30,000 Love Boxes to children in hospitals across the GTA, Durham, and areas north of Toronto. The extremely talented Jules Halpern is back to serenade us. Lindsay from @onetogiveto and Kindness Corner has a new challenge in store for us as well.

In this episode we will learn from one of our favourite of all time children’s performers, Kayla. Also with us is the award-winning composer and musical director, Jack Lenz. Performing one of their original songs, will be the very talented Abby and Sarah. A recent Project Give Back Joey Award winner, Arissa Roy is back with an update on what she is up to. And of course, Lindsay from @one2giveto is back for this month’s kindness challenge.

Our first episode of this season, Emphasizing Empowerment, features trailblazer Leanne Matlow who will speak about her upcoming Mental Health Empowerment Day helping parents and teachers adopt a practical and accessible mental health tool kit. Leanne is cognitive behavioural therapy counsellor with a private practice specializing in anxiety for children and adolescents. We will also learn from Dido Balla, founder of a non-profit organization called FitLit, whose mission is to use a blended curriculum of fitness and literacy to empower youth. Dido is currently the Head of Education for the Goldie Hawn Foundation, where his focus is to maximize the impact of MindUP in schools, communities, and families. We will also be treated to a performance by the extremely talented Ethan Young. Of course, Lindsay from @one2giveto is back to update us on their next initiative and how we can help.

This week’s episode of Connects features the Toronto legend, Michael Landsberg, Sports Journalist and Founder of Sick Not Weak Foundation. The very talented Lily Librach will perform for us. You will also meet two shining stars who are taking their challenges and turning them into ways to help others, Mason Drutz and Arielle Weinstein.

This week, our featured guest Jodi Kovitz, who was featured in Forbes Woman, and recognized as one of Canada’s 25 Women of Influence shares her passion for pursuing dreams and making things happen. We will be treated to a live performance by AJA. You will also meet shining star, Bayley Levy.

This episode is all about ‘Presenting with Confidence.’ Standing up in front of people is a difficult skill to master, never mind standing out! Our featured guests have some key tips and tricks to help us all improve our presentation skills. Neil Grammer, author of ‘At the Margins’ shares game changing advice. His phenomenal book is filled with key components that are extremely helpful. I have already used some of his tips, and can’t believe the difference they make. We are also joined by the extremely talented Michelle Newman, co founder of Spotlight Academy. Michelle will coach us on amplifying voice techniques and ways to boost our confidence. She will be joined by one of her sensational students and Project Give Back alum Judah Davidson, to perform a song for us. Of course, Lindsay from @one2giveto will be joining in with our Kindness Corner challenge.

This episode’s theme is ‘We Rise When We Fall’. Our expert is Melissa Oziel, owner of Slat Canada. As a registered speech-language pathologist with a Master's of Science from Columbia University, Melissa knows how to build confidence, independence and resilience. Our musical guest is the uber talented Ethan Young, winner of CTV’s The Launch. Our Shining Stars are the dynamic duo of Maya and Olivia. These two Project Give Back Alumni students we call ‘ KIDspirations’ have launched an organization that provides care kits to distribute to homeless shelters across Toronto. And of course we welcome Lindsay from @one2giveto in our Kindness Corner segment.

This week’s theme is all about seeing beauty all around us, through a unique lens. You will meet epic photographer Neil Dankoff. Dana Geall will share her newest children’s book with all of us, called ‘See Me for Me’. You will also be inspired by this week’s Shining Star, the very talented Tic Toc star Julia Slater. Of course, Lindsay is back with us for Kindness Corner.

This episode is all about You Being Uniquely You. We will be joined by the amazing Adrienne Gold, with a message, not to be missed. The very talented Tyler Simmons will be sharing one of his original songs, then you will meet the incredible Oliver Tanenbaum, our Shining Star. We are treated to an original live performance from singer/songwriter Mikalyn Hay. We will meet author Bev Katz Rosenbaum and learn about her very timely novel, I’m Good and Other Lies. Of course, we end off the episode with words from Lindsay in Kindness Corner.

In this episode, entrepreneur, and trailblazer Erica Ehm will speak about her newest initiative empowering teens, called Inside Out Initiative. We will also meet newly drafted Texas Ranger, Liam Hicks. Liam, a former Project Give Back Student will speak about his passion and journey to become a Professional Baseball Player. We will be treated to an update from Sharon Neiss Arbess on her newly released book called The Get Up Book. The very talented Sage Siegel will treat us to one of her original songs. And of course Kindness Corner with Lindsay!

Project Give Back Connects - The Power of Resiliency

In our first bi-weekly episode, hear Halle Burnett sing Rise Up, by Andra Day. Learn to find strength in what makes you different from Adrienne Gold, and get inspired by teenage dynamo Arissa Roy, who has learned at a very young age the power of giving and championed some amazing initiatives.

This week we learn from two experts. Eric Petersiel, Head of School for The Leo Baeck Day School will speak with us about the role of community in education. Nancy Lerner, Education Consultant and former Principal in the TDSB will discuss the importance of focusing on the whole child, in school and at home. We will learn from Logan Petersiel about their eye opening and inspiring year and enjoy a performance from them. Our Shining Star William Carter will let us know what he did to make our world brighter. And of course, Lindsay will challenge us in her segment of Kindness Corner.
