Breathe, Feel, Heal: The Essential Connection Between Yoga and Emotional Well-Being

🌸 Did you know that unprocessed emotions can physically manifest in our bodies? Sophie Malahieude shared this powerful insight on my podcast, "Roaming with Restless Women." How Our Names Shape Our Identity and Relationships

Today's episode is incredibly timely given the SAVE Act. This time, I had the pleasure of chatting with the incredible Melania (pen name), also known as Melanie Murphy. She’s a writer, speaker, and the author of Bound by Love Not Tradition, a book that empowers women to make intentional choices about their married names. Here are some of the fascinating insights and stories we explored:Cultural and Personal Complexities: We dive into the history and laws around married name changes, revealing surprising international perspectives. Did you know that in Japan, married couples must share the same last name, and in 99% of cases, the wife adopts the husband’s name?I shared a personal anecdote about my daughter and son-in-law creating a new family name by combining parts of their last names. It was a beautiful symbol of equality and mutual respect. Finally, we discussed how different countries approach naming conventions, like Greece and Quebec, where laws prevent women from changing their names after marriage to promote gender equality. At the time of our conversation in December 2025, the SAVE Act had passed in the House but was dead on arrival to the Senate. The later iteration, SAVE America Act, passed in the House February 2026 and as of April 15, 2026, faces a difficult path in the Senate, where it is currently under debate and faces a filibuster. To reach Melanie: [email protected] and website https://www.melaniajoy.comTo apply to be on the show: https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.com/roaming-with-restless-women-podcastIf you are a senior woman leader and are contemplating making a big career or life change, discover more resources on https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.comFinally, please LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE or leave a review if you love the wisdom these women are sharing!

From Emotional Exhaustion to Empowerment: A Path to Authentic Living for Women

As a woman in the workplace have you ever been criticized as being too aggressive? In this episode of Roaming with Restless Women, Nancy Colier and I talk about women - from the "shoulds" and guilt to reclaiming our power and authenticity - at work and at home. Nancy’s career path from television production to psychotherapy and mindfulness teaching is a testament to the power of seeking deeper meaning and fulfillment. Her story is a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue what truly resonates with your soul.We discussed Nancy’s book, "The Emotionally Exhausted Woman", which addresses the burnout many women feel from living up to others’ expectations. From a young age, women are often conditioned to prioritize others’ needs over their own. Nancy and I explored how these societal “shoulds” can stifle our true selves and how we can start to break free from these limiting narratives.Guilt is a common theme in many women’s lives. Nancy shared strategies for identifying and challenging the cultural stories that fuel our guilt, helping us to reclaim our power and live more authentically.Nancy’s upcoming book, "Narratives: Let Go of the Stories That Keep You Stuck", delves into the stories we tell ourselves and how they shape our lives. We discussed how changing these narratives can transform our perceptions and behaviors. Finally, we touched on a fascinating study from Harvard and Columbia business schools that highlights the gender biases in perceptions of leadership. It’s a stark reminder of the challenges women face in being seen as assertive rather than aggressive. To reach Nancy: https://www.nancycolier.comTo apply to be on the show: https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.com/roaming-with-restless-women-podcastIf you are a senior woman leader and are contemplating making a big career or life change, discover more resources on https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.comFinally, please LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE or leave a review if you love the wisdom these women are sharing!

The Hidden Costs of Poor Training: Why Your Business Can’t Afford to Ignore It

"Teams can only be effective if the leader is effective." This powerful insight from Dr. Carrie Graham on Roaming with Restless Women really struck a chord with me. Leadership isn’t about giving orders; it's about creating a supportive culture that empowers everyone to do what they do best. When a team appears to have an issue, Dr. Graham often advises managers to observe their team's interactions outside the office to identify underlying issues. As a fellow training and development professional myself, I used to tell managers to take their teams bowling to observe the team dynamics and then we would talk about what interventions might need to happen to strengthen team dynamics. Many times, what appears to be a team problem is actually a leadership issue. Effective leaders build effective teams, and that’s a lesson worth remembering. To reach Dr. Graham: [email protected] apply to be on the show: https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.com/roaming-with-restless-women-podcastIf you are a senior woman leader and are contemplating making a big career or life change, discover more resources on https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.comFinally, please LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE or leave a review if you love the wisdom these women are sharing!

How Gaming and Play Can Foster Healing and Connection in Our Lives

What if video games could help us heal, connect, and rediscover joy—instead of fueling anxiety and disconnection? This is the question at the heart of a recent episode of Roaming with Restless Women, where I chatted with Carissa Karban, co-founder of two ventures blending technology and healing, including the innovative AI-driven cozy game, Astra Puffs.Carissa emphasizes that we all need to reclaim the Joy of Play! Why?As adults, we often lose touch with the pure, agenda-free playfulness we had as children. Society tells us to hustle, check off to-do lists, and “earn” our worth. But play is essential for creativity, healing, and nervous system regulation. Some tips include:Schedule Play Time: Block out time for activities that are fun for their own sake—whether it’s a cozy game, doodling, or dancing in your living room.Release the Outcome: Let go of the need to be productive or “good” at what you’re doing. The point is to enjoy, not to achieve.Notice Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels when you’re truly playing. Do you feel lighter, more relaxed, more open?Carissa emphasizes that play is not frivolous—it’s a way to reconnect with your true self and regulate your nervous system. “We need to reclaim the joy of play as adults,” she says, “not just for fun, but for our well-being.”To reach Carissa: https://www.astrapuffs.com and https://www.healcollective.meTo apply to be on the show: https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.com/roaming-with-restless-women-podcastIf you are a senior woman leader and are contemplating making a big career or life change, discover more resources on https://www.intuitivewisdomcoach.comFinally, please LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE or leave a review if you love the wisdom these women are sharing!

More than Organized: Master Your Space and Mind Your Business

Feeling overwhelmed by stuff? You're not alone. In my recent episode of Roaming with Restless Women podcast, Miriam Ortiz Y Pino and I talk about the cultural myth that more stuff equals more happiness. It doesn't.Miriam shares her golden rule: make sure every item you own contributes to the life you want to live. If something doesn't contribute to that life, you don't need it - don't buy it in the first place or get rid of it (gift it) to someone whose life will be blessed by having it.I totally resonated with Miriam as I got rid of 85 percent of my "stuff" nearly three years ago to live and work in an RV. When that dream was replaced by another dream (to be closer to my kids and grandson), not having so much stuff made it easy to move into a smaller space!Organization and continuous improvement works in all aspects of one's life. Miriam consults with and coaches business leaders on getting their businesses organized and more profitable as well!
