Capoeira events and the injury prone rhythms
Calling out all the capoeiristas, but most especially the LEADERS! This is me asking for you to listen and help me create this change. People get injured in capoeira on almost every capoeira event, even if they are masters and superstars. This is not injury due to contact this is usually energy due to accumulated stress. I’m here to not only highlight what we do wrong but also how to make a change. We the leaders have the power to change this, and this episode will teach you the importance this can have in ourselves as well as in our community. Injury PREVENTION is always less expensive then INJURY and will keep you in the game for a long time to come. Releasing stored emotions through movement and breathwork
Emotional regulation is something that is getting harder for us as a society. The clear lack of movement and map nutrition (junk food) of most of our population is probably the main difficulty we face as a species. Feeling anger, resentment or any other feeling perceived as negative is frowned upon so we stuff all of that down, and the body stores it physically for us. Movement is medicine and breath is awareness, let’s talk about this and hopefully shed some light on how to keep you using these valuable life changing tools for better mental health and daily living and of course injury prevention folks. Returning to yourself - the mindfulness hack that can brake the chains of the ego & promote healing
Our bodies and minds run of the program of our own perspective and narrative. We forget to take these mindful moments to find stillness or even to understand that any time we talk badly about our selves we are hurting ourselves deeply and dimming our own light. Being yourself is not an easy task, but honing that power can change everything including movement quality and healing. This also gives permission for others to brake those chains… so I invite you to become one within yourself and to release the chains of the ego and shine like a super nova. I’m back! Time for some updates, and a special talk on projected fears that keep most of us stuck.
It’s been a while, life has shifted greatly! But with that also came the courage to begin a new reality and projects like our own school and the dreams of a home for a community of like minds. A community of people who are empowered by martial arts and fitness. However change can be difficult, and even scary! Specially with friends and even family projecting their fears about what IS NOT POSSIBLE. Fear is a decapitating feeling that people throw at you consistently, with misconceptions and ideas of what they think should be and are mostly overrated. Often this can keep you stuck. Hopefully this will give you a view to honing the skill of courageous action towards your own dream regardless of what others say. The only belief you need is YOUR OWN! The power in respect and passing down traditions of old in martial arts
As a community do we respect and support our art? Sadly the answer to that can be a big NO, due to ego and lack of self-respect (because we can only respect others at the level we respect ourselves). But sometimes also lack of belief in the system as a whole due to bad experiences with that a turbo Roth in the past. Let me enlighten you and change some narratives to help us hopefully understand a place of unity. I believe that if we come together sky is not even the limit and I believe that properly placing these traditions can help us all be better humans for the good of all. Martial arts and pregnancy, a difficult transformation that has many women quitting the arts
I’m pregnant and being a mother of what is now my 3rd child I’d like to clarify some difficulties that only women can understand. This will have some key information about the first trimester and the changes that happen in our bodies and the ones we need to adapt during training. To my brothers, teachers, and masters.. this will have some key information about a difficult phase in a woman’s life that has her prioritizing everything but herself. I see so many women leaving the arts after becoming mothers and this has to change because we need the nurtures in our arts. There already are so many supportive environments to help parents to remain in the arts and as part of the community, and that’s beautiful! But I plan to bring more understanding of how hard it is on a woman to go through this and have more of those environments flourish in the arts. Though it’s a beautiful and blessed situation, it’s also one that asks for a woman to completely donate herself body, mind and emotions to making a life! Knowledge is power and here I give you a bridge of understanding in hopes of a better future for all of us. Thank you for you support fam! Without you I’d have no voice. Female martial arts and the destructive competitive mindset
Once upon the time I thought being a female in martial arts was bad and a weakness. Competing with other women was what I was taught from childhood and it kept my ego fed and my soul self blinded not to mention it stunted my growth. The realization that sisterhood is truly the power I needed to hone to grow has been life changing. To all my sisters listen with love for yourselves in mind. To all my brothers, listen in honor all the daughters, mothers and female figures present. Together we can brake-down this passed down false belief that no longer serves us. Self-love, our forgotten superpower
Our brain cannot tell the difference between a physical pain and one that is coming from our minds and emotions. Pain is always the result and we tend to be the ones who hurt ourselves the most, to the point where we purposely stunt our growth. What if I told you that the self-love can unlock your body and mind?! From better mobility, to better capability, better healing, and even less body pain. Happy international women’s day! Let’s talk about mindfulness and cycles
Mindfulness and cycles, calming thoughts and the ego even during the difficulties and hormonal imbalances of a menstrual cycle. How to use this tool rather you are a man or woman to hack into your autopilot aka ego on automation…and be there for each other genuinely. With understanding that we need each other to form a whole. Injury in the martial arts world, and the power to change the narrative that lies within us
The reason why I do what I do is because I got tired of being injured all the time and having people tell me this is normal. Growing older in martial arts meant a pile of past injuries and restrictions, and lots of PAIN…but this made progressive training almost impossible because I was stuck with a body that didn’t help me. This didn’t sit right with me, so I learned to help myself by changing the narrative and getting educated and creating my own methodology. Injury PREVENTION is where it’s at! Body structure in martial arts, can your body actually take a hit?

A strong body feels like freedom and strength is about how well your body performs at any moment through out your day and that feels like Independence.
