sara plusplus - Late Night TV | RUBBER014 Digital: rubber-denhaag.bandcamp.com/album/late-night-tv 01 - plain old emissions 02 - thinking of you 03 - in pursuit of night with Nadia 04 - I fall 05 - still recall 06 - purfled promisses 07 - the attic 08 - flights 09 - Audre Lorde 10 - late night tv sara plusplus’ Late Night TV. Shook from a nocturnal daze, zapping through past lives and futures that could have been. Fragments turn substance, shaped by that never-ending linger as the force of desire fuels our daily grind. Embodying feminist cut-up and practices of sampling, Sara writes text, makes sounds, morphs that of others. Consciously militant in the use of minimal tools, the album is assembled from vocals, found sound, synthesizer and DAW experimentation. It channels the DIY ethos of her cultural practice, where musical spontaneity emerges through an insistence on the potential of the unfixed and the cracked-open human soul. On Late Night TV, sounds flicker through interference, while signal bleed is treated as musical material rather than obstruction. Tuned to the nervous system across its varying intensities, Sara approaches her voice as a malleable instrument: shifting between narrative and percussion, sometimes dissolving into texture, sparse melodies briefly grounding before dissipating elsewhere again. Melancholia and intuition converge in erotic registers, plunging us into a fragile state. So we fall, and Sara remains with us; exposed, holding us from within. All songs written by Sara Campos, except track 3, written with Nadia. Track 9 contains excerpts of a lecture by Audre Lorde "Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power". Mixing: Thomas van Linge Mastering: Alek Kurniawan Liner notes: Luke Cohlen Artwork: Ruben Verkuylen @saraplusplus @saradecampos

RUBBER TIJD / X-Mess Special 8 (with Sara plusplus and DJ Licuadito Mix)

Rubber descends with the yearly tradition of gifting you a mix to make it through the darker days. With last year's present being a more reflective and cinematic one, this mix ricochets from one mood to the other. Mixed, dubbed and karaoke’d by Sara plusplus and DJ Licuadito Mix, this concoction represents both the fun and experimental attitude both artists and musicians explore in their practices. With eggnog shots, roasted goat recipes and plenty of cumbia, this one raises the glasses to the loved ones and the odd ones. With a Chevy Silvado being their Xmas sled, they went from Mexico to Portugal and all the colours in between. With the final stop being the Nederlands. Bom Natal and Feliz Navidad! DJ Licuadito Mix is the playground persona of Enrique Gutierrez, allowing to mix things that don’t mix. Moving through mash-ups, good accidents, rhythms and intentions. Sara plusplus is a musician, artist, DJ and founder of experimental music event Weather Report. Her methods incorporate trial and error, cut-up techniques, improvisation and uses of pop-music structures such as melody hooks and sultry vocals, which occasionally unfold in more discordant forms. This mix precludes Sara plusplus’s upcoming album “Late Night TV” on Rubber which will come out in 2026. J A featuring Donato Dozzy - Sorella di confine | RUBBER013

🚨 10 Inch repress coming J A featuring Donato Dozzy - Sorella di confine | RUBBER013 A1 - Eclisse indolente A2 - Era vitale B - Sorella di confine Vinyl / Digital: https://rubber-denhaag.bandcamp.com/album/sorella-di-confine Distribution by @clone-distribution The initial 7-inch edition was withdrawn as the pressing didn’t fully capture the sonic quality of the tracks. Rubber releases a small repress on 10-inch, a format that truly carries the sound and presents the music exactly as intended. Reuniting as a trifecta, J A returns to Rubber with a three-pronged EP. This time, Andrea Noce and Jonida Prifti are joined by Donato Dozzy—the Italian maestro of minimal techno, who threads liquid geometry into the pair’s vocal acrobatics. Like a silver fog descending, ‘Eclisse Indolente’ opens. Not quite ambient—with field recording-esque emanations filling the backdrop—the spoken lyrics are moonlit incantations, spells for a mid-winter ritual. ‘Era Vitale’ showcases Dozzy’s hypnotic latticework in full effect, the operatic accompaniment gliding over a twitching beat. For the titular track—its thundering power a homage to the sound system—blasts of cold bass interject at intervals; a muted post-dub tirade, narrated by fractured, echoing whispers. Building on their previous album for the imprint, enter ja, which leaned more instrumentally maximalist, this incarnation shifts to subtle, mesmerising sonics that let the lyrical prowess surge forth. A testament to the mystical nature of the voice, Sorella di Confine is pagan-folk for the club; a lunar chant, an ebony hymn. The record serves as a sister release to Prifti’s eponymous poetry collection, published in 2024 by Marco Saya Edizioni. An extract from the collection’s afterword appears on the back sleeve, penned by the renowned lyricist, playwright, poet, and novelist Pasquale Panella. Mastering by Sjoerd Oberman Release notes by Hannah Pezzack @hannah-pezzack Graphic design by Ruben Verkuylen @j-a-66 @andreanoce @donato-dozzy

Images of joy alternate with scenes of terror on our screens and in our thoughts. We hope that this Christmas is a moment not to look away but to gaze inward. Music not only soothes but also nurtures perseverance. Or as Death says, explaining the nature of belief in Hogfather (2006) — “You need to believe things that aren’t true. Ton Lebbink - Wat Doe Je Met Me? | RUBBER 011

Ton Lebbink - Wat Doe Je Met Me? | RUBBER 011 A1 - Wat Doe Je Met Me? A2 - Denke Nie Gedacht Zu Haben (Ft. Christine & Jasmine) B1 - For You By the late 1980’s Ton Lebbink was a well respected figure in Amsterdam’s alternative scene: he was the drummer for the Amsterdam post punk group Mecano, a true punk poet and worked as a bouncer at Amsterdam’s main music venue Paradiso. He released two solo albums, both in his unique narcotic style: laying absurd Dutch wordplay over stripped down frigid instrumentals. As the decade came to an end, Ton – already well in his forties – moved away from the often destructive and dangerous nightlife. After a series of odd jobs Ton started as a fitness instructor at an Amsterdam gym called Splash. Meanwhile, the 90’s brought the latest musical craze to Amsterdam: house music began to flourish through clubs like RoXy, iT and Mazzo. With house being the ideal score for his fitness classes, the once well known cult figure faded into anonymity at a 120 beats per minute. His musical endeavours were focusing more on finding the right beats for aerobics exercises with self-devised exercise – eventually leading Ton to bootleg some of them on cassette tapes himself. In parallel to this radical shift, Ton did not stop making music. On the contrary, piles of demos showed high activity but in a direction no one was looking. Inspired by music to move to, Ton recorded hours of music that activated the body while staying true to his playful mindset. Discarding his voice as an instrument, the Roland W-30 sampler became his tool to communicate. Gathering vocal snippets from close friends, barflies and pets, a repertoire developed where witty repetitiveness could exist. Going through a vast collection of demos, pictures and many anecdotes, Rubber has been able to create an EP that gives insight into Ton’s overlooked 90’s era. Three playful dance tracks by Ton Lebbink taking his complete own take on the Amsterdam house revolution of the 90's. Full of inventiveness: hip-shaking grooves, hypnotic beats and rousing vocals. Tracks to move to and tracks to groove to. Essential dancefloor workout tunes for you and me. Ah yeah!

Ton Lebbink - For You (Heavy House Aerobic Mix) on NTS

[ Played on NTS on 22.07.22 ] Ton Lebbink was a true Dutch cult figure. He has been mostly known for his work in the eighties, where he paired absurdist and witty Dutch wordplay with stripped down wave-instrumentals. This mixtape introduces you to his far lesser known nineties era, where he went from being a bouncer to becoming a fitness instructor, and replaced his voice with a Roland W-30 sampler. Specifically recorded for his aerobic classes, we take off with a production of Lebbink himself that then blends into club-cuts he bootlegged from the radio. This adventurous mixtape seems the right prelude to the upcoming release ‘Wat Doe je Met Me?' on Dutch music label RUBBER – a 12’’ EP containing three Ton Lebbink dance productions that never saw daylight. Thanks goes out to Christine, Lyckle, Twan and Bence for all their time and effort.

RUBBER TIJD / X-Mess Special 5 (by The North Sea Wolfpack)

As we sleigh into the holiday season, we pick up our tradition of putting out a Christmas special. A potent elixir of Xperimental and dark-not-dark specialties to bring some glow into everybody’s living room. This year we are amped to share with you a mix quite close to home, The Westcoast to be precise. This year’s Christmas soundtrack is crafted by the North Sea Wolfpack, a femme collective of musicians, artists, creators, and producers that share a common love for sound in all its forms, and through their collective effort elevate one another and the (electronic) music scene. The North Sea Wolfpack created a mix which is a collective effort of their members’ input resulting in an hour of cult-y off-beat carols and odes to this particular moment of the year. And of course a noteworthy mentioning Alina Valentina's secret stash that was added to the mix. Have a flexible holiday! p.s. the views expressed by the songs' artists are not necessarily our own — we wish everybody to keep their sofa. @northseawolfpack

    MINIGOD - De Bus | RUBBER 008

RUBBER is happy to present you MINIGOD - De Bus. A three track 7 inch piece of music history. MINIGOD - De Bus EP | RUBBER 008 A1 - MINIGOD - Her Darkness A2 - MINIGOD - De Bus B1 - MINIGOD - Plastic Tears Vinyl / digital: https://rubber-denhaag.bandcamp.com/album/de-bus Rubber brings it back to home ground by diving deeper into Jan Duivenvoorden's shoeboxes. Travelling beyond Unit Moebius, Funky Sobrietas and even Leuk & Ko, there was MINIGOD. Back in 1987, at a local youth centre in the ever-dull Zoetermeer, a group of seven non-musical friends started what could be considered a freeform band ”electronic ’beuk‘ music with noise guitar and lyrical texts”. This band was called MINIGOD and rose from the ashes of the performative act Aars/rugklachten. Their change not only meant an upgrade in instruments - from jerrycans, barrels and worn-out bass guitar to keyboard and synthesizers - but also from simply screaming into the void towards songs with something of a structure. The release portrays MINIGOD quintessentially -- energy above professionalism. From a large number of tracks Rubber made a precise selection allowing punk and satire to dance cheek-to-cheek. MINIGOD believed that every human can be a tiny bit of God, and that was just the way this music was intended. If only everybody believed in themselves, and in others. MINIGOD is Jan Duivenvoorden (Unit Moebius), Richard van den Bogaert (Leuk & Ko), and Rob de Bakker played keyboard and synthesizer, Edwin Zuidwijk played guitar, and Siuli Ko and Bart Barendregt did the vocals. Limited to 123 copies.

    RUBBER TIJD with Eddie Peake

After a short holiday break we are happy to share the next Rubber Tijd with you. We warmly welcome our first artist of the year and number 81 on the show: Eddie Peake. For this podcast Peake presents Memory Cycle 2, an audio piece from a series of sound works he has been making in recent years. “They are an attempt to recreate as definitive recordings the live DJ sets I play in my performance work. Whereas in my performances they are ephemeral and reactive, here they are somewhat more calculated, although in both instances, chance and coincidence is important. They are collages of looping motifs drawn from a palette of original recordings, voice memos and field-recordings to evoke a sense of nostalgia, the subjective and inaccurate nature of memories, the repetitive and spiralling ideation of an obsessive or psychopathic mind.” Eddie Peake is a London based Artist and DJ and his work includes performance, video, photography, painting, sculpture, sound and installation. It has tended to take the form of non-linear, immersive exhibitions, usually presented as a web of incongruously and yet inextricably connected discrete objects. Looping or repetitive forms are a prominent element, as is the theme of the inadequacy of verbal language in representing phenomena such as emotions, memories or modes of communication which are not verbal. Another of its foci is the implicit drama within relationships between people, whether they are familial, professional, romantic, sexual or social, and how desire, sexuality, socio-political and cultural constructs, as well as psychological states such as depression impact on them. Peake also DJs under a pseudonym and runs a record label imprint called Hymn. We are very happy to have him on the team and hope you enjoy Memory Cycle 2. Stay flexible! X R

    RUBBER TIJD with Lucy Cliché

Really happy to have Lucy Cliché on the team. Lucy Cliché is a Sydney, Australia based musician who's been at it for a while now, playing music (and an occasional DJ) under various guises including Lucy Cliché and Loose-y Crunché, and collaboratively with Half High, Naked On The Vague, and Knitted Abyss. As Lucy Cliché she's released records on Fleisch and Noise In My Head. Lucy Cliché's music delivers a hard bitten exploration of how physicality and the ethereal can interact in music – heavy bass rhythms lock into pounding drums, washed over with synth chords and acid bleeps. She's wrote some words on the mix: "I've lovingly crafted this mix of some of my favourite (predominantly loosely electronic and experimental) Australian and New Zealand artists, with mostly newer tracks and a few older tracks to keep them in good company. This mix pretty much transverses through palettes of sounds that excite my ears and nurture my heart, with music from my intimate and broader music communities. During lock-down I've been reflecting on the importance of having a strong local (music) community, because Australia at the best of times is geographically isolated, but now borders are shut, so the local music community needs to be more self-sufficient, and I guess part of this involves positively reflecting inward with curiosity and admiration as to nurture what is here, valuing the labour and love of creating at a time of being so physically separated from the rest of the world." Our neighbour Laura BCR dropped by. Dreamy and dubby heavy duty in this beauty. Laura BCR has been steadily making her mark in contemporary electronic music in recent times, with firm feet in the electronic music via her various endeavors such as her now defunct Bass Cadet Records shop in Berlin where she takes her name from. ”I collected lot of music these past few months, spending hours on Bandcamp, discovering new tunes and having also friends sending music (shout out to Sure Thing and Oslated). I wanted to make a good compilation of ambient, experimental, breaks and techno all together going from a very abstract mode kind of melo and finally linking everything with some dance floor tracks I would love to dance on actually - this mix is quite dark with some intense parts I would say. + You can hear two new tracks that will be release at the end of the month on our 17-tracks charity compilation with On Board Music. One if from KMRU and one from me.” Stay flexible! x RUBBER TIJD

Happy to have Lulu on the Rubber Tijd series! Absolute belter of a mix that resembles a kind of universal truth of some sort, starting with chaos, then evolving slowly to bliss only to resort back to a kind of nightmarish fractal state of being. HECK > CHECK IT OUT!

RUBBER TIJD with The Devil Museum by Jacob Dwyer, remixed and mixed by Arif

The Devil Museum is an audio drama by Amsterdam based artist Jacob Dwyer. In it we listen to the diary of a man tasked with photographing all three-thousand of a museum’s devil sculptures. The work was produced on residency at Rupert (Lithuania) with support from the Mondriaan Fonds. It combines field recordings with original musical compositions by Kareem Lotfy and Jacob Oostra. The Devil Museum is currently on display in the Corridor Project Space in Amsterdam. For this Rubber Tijd special, Jacob Dwyer invited Arif Kornweitz, an Amsterdam based DJ and and co founder of JAJAJANEENEENEE radio, to remix excerpts from Dwyer's work into a mix. Title: DMT (The Devil Museum) Tracklist: Arif - DCC (UUSE) Kano - Signs in Life (Slowed) Arif - Mimosa (UUUSE) Madteo - Evol On Arif - Slew (UUUUSE) Duma - Pembe 666 Rabit - Rebirth (Smoked Out) The Devil Museum will be released on vinyl early next year with Mana Records. UUUSE is an upcoming label by Arif. @jacobdwyer @kareemlotfy @arifonline @manarec @jajajaneeneenee

    RUBBER TIJD with Wosto

This week we happily welcome Wosto to the Rubber Tijd series. You might know him as the other half of FALLBEIL (We had Kluentah on the show a few months back!?) and for his releases on labels like teerpappe and macadam mambo and many more. Wosto went fast and peppy with this vinyl only 140 bpm synthpop mix. In his own words: "Wosto was born in 1980 in Geseke (a small town near in „Wostfalia“) and he got no wife, no childen and no car. In the beginning of the 90ths he was a famous ice skater under the moniker RED FLAME. After an accident in 1995 and an identity crisis he started to collect records and began to work as a DJ for a fairground ride. Wosto and his gang G TOWN BEATS were discovered by the club owner Travolta Michele and they started to do DJ sets in the club KLIMBIM in Geseke. 19,994 of the 20,000 inhabitants of Geseke weren`t interested in the music of the gang and so in 2004 the boys escaped to Hamburg. In 2013 Wosto and his best friend Kluentah founded FALLBEIL. So far they released 10 vinyl records on different labels all over the world. In 2017 Wosto and the two members of NOSTAGIE ÉTERNELLE started the trio SAUERSTOFFF. Wosto is also releasing solo records and is running his own vinyl label - TEERPAPPE." Sounds sick. Enjoy and stay flexible! XR.

    RUBBER TIJD with Bence Meijer

Full circle with Bence Meijer, more closely connected to Rubber than we all expected. Bence is a musician and founder of the blog Archaic Inventions, dedicated to discovering and contextualizing experimental tape culture from the recent past. ”This mix is the result of a couple of years of gathering material, making selections and remembering the past. After a less rosy period of my life I reconnected with my old music friends in Berlin a few years ago. They helped putting me back on track for the most part. It happened after As Longitude came to play in Amsterdam and gave me a sense of spirit again…. I reconnected to Berlin later on. I slowly remembered a previous phase of being in Berlin during the early 00’s digging for records as a young teenager. Going to Staalplaat, buying Mouse On Mars and The Octagon Man records through town, seeing Miss Kitten set-up for a gig in an industrial warehouse club (but went home before it started because I was too young to stay up too late), going to the old Tacheles (say 2004) where a guy on acid was holding a Death In June picture disc vinyl and a wooden cat statue while spacing out, also I remember well seeing an early interview with Berlin electro-pop unit 2Raumwohnung on the “Lola de Musica” TV program on Dutch television. I was visiting the Russendisko bar-night where I was looked upon weirdly being 14 years old entering the place after midnight (was it at Sonnenallee…? Not sure anymore, so much layered histories intertwining). In short: reconnected to Berlin I remembered many things about a music feeling I had forgotten but that had been part of me. It all came back into me with the energy and velocity of some type of karmic 90’s boomerang within a framework of a seemingly renewed sense of love and appreciation. I’m born in The Hague and grew up closely to the Bunker Records scene. Jan Duivenvoorden (the musical brain behind Unit Moebius and one half of Leuk & Ko) was always a good friend of my father. We used to go on Holidays to Hungary together in the 90’s (I’m half Hungarian): me, my parents and Jan and his back-then girlfriend. An intimate video documentation exists of one of our trips that Jan made. I remember those days vividly.- Since my return to Berlin in recent times I had to rethink my life, my personal losses and I had to reconstruct and relive differentiated realities to understand where I am now. Luckily back home in Holland I gave it my best shot. I reconnected with Jan after many years, we played some tunes and spoke about life and today’s music world. I also managed to play a live set at the Braille Satellite Festival in Lithuania. A festival organized by my special friends from Berlin and Vilnius. Since a young kid I knew there was not going to be much else than this strange music world. Some people discover parties or something. I never did. It was like this all along because of the older people around me. My music blog Archaic Inventions hopefully testifies to this upbringing. Through the years Rubber has oddly brought together different recognizable musical energies including some of the people I happen to have been connected to. Synchronicities. I am grateful for the Rubber vision and the releases you guys put out! The newest track in this mix is from 2002. This is an ode to Berlin (Germany in general), The Hague and Budapest. Also hidden are some Latin American oddities. Different countries and their musical feeling, manifesting themselves in my memory. A flash of personal remembrance, my impressions of the 90s and 00s, yet now more adjusted to home-listening. This set was recorded at OCCII Amsterdam on May 1st. OCCII is my dearest home-base music venue in Amsterdam that we opened specially to record this mix during the corona pandemic. No CDJ hi-fidelity, but it-is-what-it-is quality, let it - happen, squat-style. Maybe not as great as I thought I would be in selecting tunes but….Rubber Time!!“ Bence Meijer / Archaic Inventions @archaic-inventions

    RUBBER TIJD with UVB76

In light of last week’s release of 𝘉𝘈𝘒𝘈𝘙𝘈 on Rubber by Parisian duo UVB76, we’re happy to also have a firm addition to RUBBER TIJD by the two. While the release offered an outspoken palate of clattering tones, field-recordings, and rapidly fluctuating effects, their podcast shifts down a few gears without losing sight of the duos experimental and explorative character. Grunting your way into worn-out Monday after sitting by the pool all weekend. Summer vibes with a twist of delirium, black-outs and voices echoing in your head. @uvbsoixanteseize

    RUBBER TIJD with Derozan

This week's Rubber Tijd is served to you fresh with a side weirdness by Derozan. Based in Nieuwegijn (the Netherlands), Derozan is interested in exploring global dance music. In his own words: "This two hour mix will guide you thru the rough edges of global dance music. Why two hours? Because then there is space to listen to the smaller details like a transition going left and right that is maybe intended or just a human mistake? Tiny soundFX with beeps and bops and tempo switching for the adventurous type. Rhythmic noise patterns combined with traditional percussion instrumentals for a better understanding of the term global dance music. And then we have the vocal part where society is being addressed for the current state we as people are going thru right now..." Enjoy and stay flexible! XR

Longtime label friend James Lotion is a Dutch transplant living in Copenhagen. As part of the queer and trans DJ collective SWEAT, they hosts parties and events with focus on uplifting queer and trans artists and creating safer dance floors at club nights in Copenhagen and Malmö.  In their own words: ‘’I feel very inspired and empowered by artists that use their music as a platform for their activism, and decided to highlight some of their work in this mix. There is a lot to tell about many of these artists, but here is a (very) short intro to three artists that are particularly dear to me.’’ DJ Hvad (Danish for What) is a well-known experimental artist from Copenhagen who o.a. uses his music and performances to speak out against racism and the anti-immigration policies of the Danish government. Terre Thaemlitz is an ambient artist/composer that focuses on themes of gender and sexual identity, sex work and the HIV crisis. I highly recommend checking out her work and writings on comatonse.com Utra-Red and is a LA-based group that explores urban social relations o.a. through sound recordings. Crafted by Andrea Noce (Eva Geist, As Longitude) and Jonida Prifti (Acchiappashpirt, Opa Opa), these productions find elegance in their noir aesthetic and sketch-like composition, breathing filmic atmospheres of its creative process and the hedonist self alike. Straying away from the societal drift for efficiency and make belief, this record was produced over a timespan of five years, while shifting between Berlin and Rome. Dancing and loafing, mirrors were splintered and scattered shards reflected a new light. Here, Noce her serpentine sense of melody guides uncharted signatures of reverberating syncopated drums, while soundscapes move in and out as apparitions fogging the mind. The poetic spoken-singing of Prifti
subdues the tracks, through a linguistic form where Albanian and Italian intertwine, channeling her scientific field into art. Cleverly processed, the vocals take on many shapes, blurring lines between instrumentation and recognition, creating meaning where language ends. RUBBER TIJD with Jasmín + Lamadre

It probably doesn't get more particular than this — a Latin American cross-generational mix by Jasmín and her mother (Lamadre). We were so charmed earlier this year when Jasmín invited her mother to join her monthly radioshow on Stranded FM. The rich collage of past and present that resulted, made us beg for more of a DJ and her mother highlighting their musical upbringing. The mix is a journey along Latin American music from both past and present. As the mother of Jasmin Hoek (Jasmín's real name) grew up in Argentina, both are brought up and are familiar with the traditional sounds of Tango, Cumbia, Samba, Reggaeton, Tropicália and more. Oddities ripped from old CD's are put next to contemporary sounds from Latin America to offer a musical trip with high contrasts. Besides Latin American sounds, Lamadre (la madre is Spanish for ‘the mom’) has been obsessively listening, exploring, and playing all kinds of music throughout her lifetime: from occasionally behind the decks at parties back in Rosario, Argentina in her twenties into their family home in Enschede. The latter most definitely laid the music nerd foundation for Jasmín. Jasmín is a DJ residing in Amsterdam that plays international clubs and festivals and has her regular show on Red Light Radio (Petting Dogs) and Stranded FM. Next to djing she writes about music and club culture for various platforms, using her Gender Studies background as a framework. @jasminhoek
