Songs and Stories

For generations, Ireland has had a culture and reputation for a good "sing song", be it the sorrow of a funeral, the the joy of a wedding, the roller-coaster build up and fall of a GAA match day, a pub lock in and everything in between. While we may hear the same songs belted or butchered, we probably don't know the meaning of many of them.In the podcast, I try to get an understanding of some of these songs, not only the the heavy hitters but some perhaps lesser known and personal favourites from folk ballads to rebel songs. Tales, theories, song suggestions or general comments can be sent to [email protected] Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
