Starve The Arts

I've been stoked on this episode for a hot minute. I finally got to talk to my old buddy, Myles Clayborne, that I met on tour a few years back. Myles is an incredible drummer who plays in a RAD band called Saul. You can catch them later this summer on the Blue Ridge Rock Festival, the Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival, as well as Atreyu's 'The Baptize Tour". It's safe to say that Myles has taken his music career to another level. 

This was a real treat. I got to have one of my lifelong best friends and a much newer friend on, who aren't apart of a music scene like most of my guests. Instead, Jamie Queen and Dustin Barger are apart of the comedic, veteran ran podcast known as Dead Opinion Radio. They've caught some serious traction during the pandemic and just started to run with it. I always split my sides listening to DOR and was super happy to have them on for Episode 22. 

The entire entourage of gentlemen known as Capital Vices made their way all the way out to the boonies to come hang out with me. I haven't seen some of these guys in over a year and a half but they made the hike. Let's see how long we can stay on task! Capital Vices is a progressive metalcore band hailing from the Chicago burbs. They're newest EP, Zenith, is out now on all major listening platforms and you can catch them on the VCTMS cd release show on 7.10.21 at the W.C Social Club in West Chicago, IL!

SLPWLKR (Sleep Walker) is a Chicago based film company ran by Arnley Sena and Norv Ng (ing). Both Arnley and Norv got their start through the Chicago music scene, playing in various types of bands and through this, developed a curiosity for videography. With multiple music videos spanning a number of genres and a short film trailer under their belt, SLPWLKR is about to take over Chicago. 

Trey and Justice are near life long friends. Trey is apart of a non profit organization called Quiet Pterodactyl that's based out of Chicago and has been helping musicians of all tiers throughout the pandemic. Meanwhile Justice is a producer and pianist who just dropped his newest full length, 'Room With A View' on Bandcamp and Youtube!

RISE! The multi genre bleeding band, End-Path talks about new releases, tour nightmares, and a bunch of other shit that's just nonsense. Had a blast talking with these guys, check out their newest single, Still A Bitch, on all major listening platforms.

Episode 13.5 has been back catalogued from my previous library... it's the only survivor. Fools' Brew is a straight up heavy metal band hailing from Chicago, IL. With an all original set AS WELL as full covers set, this is a band you need to see live! (Heads up, this was pre-covid..) 

The long haired, pop punk dream team, Makena came by to chat about recording their new record during Covid-19. This band is going to take over the world. Their newest single "Methane" is out now via Famined Records on all major platforms! 

Mark & Devon, the stringed boys of the post-hardcore band, Havens, are chock full of gear knowledge, jokes, and... honestly, it's mostly just jokes. Find all of their music on all major platforms! 

Chelsea Coronin is the owner of the indie metal label, Famined Records. Famined has signed bands all over the world in places like the U.S., Canada, Europe, Hungary, Turkey, and more! Ryan Argast, front man for Chicago's finest pop band, Marina City, "stops by" to talk about how the band has been navigating through the Covid-19 crisis and the different types of projects they've been working on to stay busy. 

Way down in San Antonio, the Recasts have been tearing up their local music scene by combining aggressive punk rock and heavy metal in the dirty dirty south. Check out their newest music video for "Full Throttle" on their Youtube and Facebook page. 

Evan is a one man Progressive Metal band called Resuscitate. He's a multi-instrumentalist that seems like he wrote the book on how to write powerhouse heavy music. Not only that, Evan is an incredible vocalist, delivering some of the harshest vox I've heard in quite some time! Resuscitate's new record, Children of the Vault, comes out December 2020 on all streaming platforms. 

Nate and Ben are two members of the four piece Madison, WI band, Archers. Their music is a rich blend of Hardcore, Rock, and Metalcore and can fit in with so many different artists. If you haven't listened to Archers, you're slacking! 

Erik shreds on the guitar in a Chicago based Jazz/Metal Fusion band called Sons of Ra. This band dips in pretty much any genre they want to, honestly. Erik's been locked down like the rest of us but he's continuing to write music and prepare for the reopening of Chicago's music scene. 

A podcaster interviewing another podcaster? Unheard of. Jacques is the host of the Pop-Punk & Pizza Podcast (do yourself a favor and listen to it!) and is also the Production Director & Morning Show Host at Milner Broadcasting- WVLI, WIVR, WFAV, & WYUR. When he's not kicking around the idea of getting back to fronting a Green Day cover band, Jacques is talking to punk rockers of every tier in the music biz. I have a lot of metalcore/hardcore bands on this podcast but I was super excited to get to sit down with this instrumental, post rock trio! Lumiel is comprised of some of the most skilled musicians I've seen who are capable of instilling such emotion through their music, it makes having a vocalist frontman obsolete. Find their music wherever music is streamed!  

I first discovered these guys in North Carolina when they opened for my band on an east coast tour we did a few years ago. Winter's Gate knows how to pack a punch with their tunes. I had a great time catching up with these guys. Follow, like, and listen to Winter's Gate on all major platforms! 

What can I say about this Indiana native hardcore band that hasn't already been said. The guys in Lowcountry know how to bring the heat as well as the alcohol induced laughs. Had a great time chatting with these guys. Their newest single, NARC, is out now on all available streaming platforms! 

Got the chance to sit down with the boys in Tanzen, one of Chicago's heaviest hitting bands. This progressive/alternative metal/djentrific band is staple on Chicago's heavy music scene and are also some of the funniest guys I've ever hung out with.
