The Baron 52 Enigma: Division 471 Memoirs – Vietnamese Veterans Confirm the Capture Corridor
In The Baron 52 Enigma Part 3, we uncover the most powerful evidence yet in the decades-long search for the four missing back-end crew members of Baron 52.Building on Parts 1 and 2 — where we examined the survivable crash and the NSA intercepts that reported four “pirates” captured by Group 210 — this episode introduces two explosive primary Vietnamese sources:Two independent memoirs written by veterans of Division 471 Trường Sơn, the exact PAVN command responsible for the Baron 52 crash corridor in southern Laos during the 1972–73 dry season.Hoàng Sĩ Khiêm (Signals Battalion 446) and Nguyen Hoang (CCB471) both describe Binh Tram 35 as the main logistics hub on Route 128, the division command post at Phù Trường–Keng Nhang, Commander Nguyễn Lạn, and the massive reinforcement of anti-aircraft units — including the 210th AAA Regiment. Most remarkably, Hoàng Sĩ Khiêm details the central “Tổng đài Chín ngàn / 9000” switchboard — operated 24/7 by 12 named female soldiers — the exact communications node through which any shootdown report or prisoner transfer order on February 5, 1973 would have passed. We also examine the official 1999 Vietnamese military schematic that visually confirms the “9000” node right where the memoirs place it.These firsthand Vietnamese accounts directly answer the geographic and unit-attribution objections long used by the DPAA — even the February 2026 DPAA letter to Senator Barrasso does not address them. For the first time, we are hearing directly from the other side’s own people, in their own words, confirming the precise location, units, and chain of command involved in the Baron 52 incident. If you care about the fullest possible accounting for America’s missing from Vietnam, this episode is essential listening.#Baron52 #POWMIA #VietnamWar #MissingInAction #HoChiMinhTrail #EC47 #SIGINT

We Are Here To Save You - Japanese Propaganda in the Execution of General Fort
On November 19, 1942 — exactly eight days after Brigadier General Guy O. Fort was executed by Japanese forces at Camp Keithley — Seiji Koga sat down and wrote a calm, polite handwritten letter to Moro guerrilla leader Datu Busran Kalaw. In it, Koga claimed he could not arrange a meeting with the still-living General Fort due to “strict rules and regulations concerning prisoners of war.”What Koga didn’t say was that Fort had already been killed after refusing to order the very Moro fighters he had personally empowered to keep fighting to surrender.Through the explosive declassified documents in file NND 883078 — including the full correspondence, battle reports, and casualty records — this episode uncovers the full story: the desperate Japanese propaganda campaign, Datu Busran Kalaw’s fearless defiance, the ferocious Fighting Bolo Battalion victories that made Lanao ungovernable, the Talagian atrocity, the Battle of Tamparan where 178 Japanese soldiers were killed in under two hours, and the chilling deception that continued even after Fort’s death.A powerful, previously untold chapter of Moro resistance and one of the most damning pieces of evidence in the ongoing search for General Fort’s remains.

Daniel Boone of the Philippines: How General Fort’s Legacy Built AMAG’s Partnership with the Moro People
From Execution to Excavation: AMAG’s Hopeful Recoveries in MindanaoEpisode 1: Daniel Boone of the Philippines: How General Fort’s Legacy Built AMAG’s Partnership with the Moro PeopleWelcome to the launch of our powerful new 4-episode mini-series: From Execution to Excavation: AMAG’s Hopeful Recoveries in Mindanao — the real-time story of courage, cross-cultural partnership, and the determined effort to finally bring home four American heroes missing for 80 years. In Episode 1, we introduce you to Brigadier General Guy O. Fort — the only American-born general ever executed by the enemy in World War II. Known as the “Daniel Boone of the Philippines,” Fort spent four decades deeply embedded among the fiercely independent Moro people of Mindanao. His cultural respect and strategic brilliance helped seed a guerrilla resistance that the Japanese could never fully crush. When he defiantly refused their propaganda demands with the legendary words “You may get me, but you will never get the United States of America,” his execution was ordered — but his legacy created a bridge that is now helping bring him home. This episode reveals how a 96-year-old eyewitness, a deliberately falsified Japanese map, and the unbreakable bond General Fort forged with the Moro people have corrected 80 years of official error — and directly launched AMAG’s historic partnership and ongoing recovery mission.About AMAGThe Asymmetric MIA Accounting Group (AMAG) is a veteran-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by 25-year U.S. Army veteran and mortuary affairs specialist Mike Henshaw. As Chief of Investigative Research, I (John Bear) research historical records, develop partnerships, and support the AMAG recovery teams on areas of interest to locate, recover, and repatriate America’s missing service members. AMAG never charges families — every mission is 100% donor-funded.The Historic Partnership & Recovery MissionAMAG has formed an official partnership with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, local leaders Robert and Ruh Alonto. Following a successful January 2026 reconnaissance mission, we are now preparing for the critical April 2026 deployment — using ground-penetrating radar and targeted excavations at the corrected execution and burial site near old Camp Keithley in Marawi. This is full-circle justice in action: the descendants of the Moro warriors General Fort once armed and respected are now actively helping us recover him — along with Lt. Col. Robert Vesey, Capt. Albert Price, and 1st Sgt. John Chandler. How You Can Help Bring Them HomeThis mission is entirely donor-funded. The Baron 52 Enigma: Captured in Laos – Signals of Survival But Buried by Bureaucracy
*Disclaimer* The content of this episode is AI-generated based strictly on our provided source documents in the possession of the Matejov family and the Baron 52 research team. Direct all comments to [email protected] this riveting episode of Stories of Sacrifice: The Baron 52 MIA Mystery, titled “The Baron 52 Enigma: Captured in Laos – Signals of Survival But Buried by Bureaucracy,” we unravel the haunting 1973 shootdown of a U.S. Air Force EC-47Q spy plane over Laos, just days after the Paris Peace Accords promised an end to the Vietnam War. Through a chronological deep dive, hosts explore the mission’s fateful night, the crash’s immediate aftermath—including SAR efforts observing only partial remains of the flight crew (with recovery of the torso of Lt. Bernhardt and the never before told femur from the of a second crewmen located in the middle of the cockpit), and the rapid KIA designation that left families reeling. We spotlight the families 50-year emotional battle for truth, from congressional advocacy with Sen. Bob Smith to frustrations with bureaucratic stonewalling. At the heart of the episode is lead researcher John Bear’s groundbreaking work: decoding declassified NSA intercepts (REFNO 1983) hinting at the capture of four “pirates,” bolstered by NSA correlation studies tying them directly to Baron 52. Bear breaks down the Vinh Window SIGINT program, explaining how PAVN relays from southern Laos funneled signals to Vinh hubs for RC-135 interception—aligning with the 5.5-hour post-crash timeline. We map the PAVN order of battle, from Group 210 (210th AAA Regiment) and the 377th Air Defense Division to the 471st Division and Binh Tram 35 HQ at Tang Cat (Km 48), pinpointing its proximity to the crash site and Km 44 in the intercepts, raising survival odds to very high. The episode pulls no punches on dismissals: critiquing DIA analyst Robert Destatte’s linguistic ambiguities, DPAA contractor Guy Bentz’s 2016 review flaws (e.g., incorrect AOR, ignored correlations and forensics like buried revolvers implying egress), and DPAA’s resource excuses. Insights from interviews with Dr. Roger Shields, Sen. Bob Smith, and Lt. Col. Lionel Blau, plus recent media coverage, reveal systemic failures. We conclude with calls for renewed probes, VNOSMP veteran interviews, and honoring the unfulfilled 1996 Wold pledge—because the truth can’t stay buried forever. Sgt Joseph A. Matejov - The Baron 52 Story
Sgt Joseph A. Matejov joined the U.S. Air Force from New York and was a member of the 6994th Security Squadron. On 5 February 1973, he was a crew member aboard an EC-47Q (serial number 43-48636) call sign "Baron 52" on a night reconnaissance mission over Saravane Province, Laos. Baron 52 was the EC-47 was carrying eight crew members that was shot down over Laos during the predawn hours of 5 February 1973, a week after the Paris Peace Accords officially ended the United States involvement in the Vietnam War. The remains of four crewmen were recovered from the crash site, but those of the remaining four have never been found. Although the U.S. government considers them to have been killed in action and as late as 1996 listed them as "accounted for", family members and POW/MIA advocates believe the four survived the crash. The incident has been featured on several nationwide news programs and a 1991 episode of the U.S. television series Unsolved Mysteries. USS Pueblo Incident with Ex-POW John Mitchell - Stories Of Sacrifice
Interview with US Navy veteran and former Cold War POW John Mitchell who was captured on the USS Pueblo in 1968 and held Prisoner of War in North Korea for 11 months along with 81 other shipmates. The USS Pueblo (AGER-2) is a Banner-class environmental research ship, attached to Navy intelligence as a spy ship, which was attacked and captured by North Korean forces on 23 January 1968, in what was later known as the "Pueblo incident" or alternatively, as the "Pueblo crisis". The seizure of the U.S. Navy ship and her total 83 crew members, one of whom was killed in the attack, came less than a week after President Lyndon B. Johnson's State of the Union address to the United States Congress, a week before the start of the Tet Offensive in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War and three days after 31 men of North Korea's KPA Unit 124 had crossed the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and killed 26 South Koreans in an attempt to attack the South Korean Blue House (executive mansion) in the capital Seoul. The taking of Pueblo and the abuse and torture of her crew during the subsequent eleven months became a major Cold War incident, raising tensions between western and eastern powers. The Pueblo is still being held by NK and used as a propaganda museum at Pyongyang, NK. I'm looking forward to talking to John about his experience being held by NK and hear his story of the brutal torture he and his shipmates suffered at the hands of their captors. Stories of Sacrifice American POWMIAs - In Memory of Bob Dumas EP 26
Bob Dumas 3/9/30 - 2/6/21The POW/MIA community lost one of it’s most fervent activists last week. Bob Dumas dedicated his life to finding his brother, Roger, and in the process became a leader in the search of all American prisoners-of-war and the missing-in-action. His journey would lead to a White House meeting with Ronald Reagan and a very long contentious dialogue with the President’s National Security Advisor, Admiral James “Budd” Nance, which ultimately resulted in, as reported by Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News, Bob’s $200M lawsuit against the President. Please sign the petition below in Bob's honor and help bring our POW/MIA's home! https://www.change.org/p/bill-dumas-no-korean-war-peace-treaty-before-live-pow-issue-is-resolved?utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=custom_url&recruited_by_id=cae15b60-d545-012f-7009-4040ea65fa16 Please consider joining our Stories of Sacrifice Community for extra insiders post and video that will help to support this show: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sospodcast Email the Show Host, John Bear - [email protected] of Sacrifice Website - https://www.storiesofsacrifice.orgSOS Logo Headgear - https://lidlaunch.com/Product?id=405https://lidlaunch.com/Product?id=404SOS RV Traveling MIA Merch Shop - https://shop.spreadshirt.com/rv-traveling-mia-researcher/Direct Support - https://paypal.me/JBear213Subscribe to our YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/RVTravelingMIAResearcherPlease visit our affiliate links that help support our Podcast. Stories of Sacrifice - SGT Durrell Tidwell Coming Home EP 25
The podcast you are about to hear was a previous interview I did with the niece of SGT Durrell Tidwell early last year. We wanted to update the podcast about Durrell because we are happy to now say the Unknown graves at the Manila American Cemetery that are associated with his remains and the 18 others who were originally buried along with him at the Cabanatuan POW camp cemetery in Common Grave 212 has received a disinterment authorization from the Department of Defense. What this means is our forensic genealogy research and making contact with the descendants of the other POW/MIAs who were originally buried together in CG 212, their families have provided their FRS DNA to the DPAA and the remains transferred to the DPAA Lab to be identified and sent home to their family for burial under a grave marker that has their name. This process can take a few years to accomplish but the families of Cabanatuan common grave 212 now have closure! I cannot wait to welcome SGT Tidwell home to his family hopefully later this year! Please sit back and enjoy this rebroadcast of SGT Tidwell’s Story of Sacrifice we did with his niece Elizabeth!
