World Wetland Day is celebrated annually on February 2nd to raise awareness for these critical ecosystems.Irish Peatlands Conservation Council is an NGO that takes action to celebrate and protect peatlands in Ireland. Founded in 1982, the IPCC has worked on many projects involving communities to conserve peatlands. The IPCC manages a network of five peatland reserves in Counties Kildare, Waterford, Meath and Kerry.Nuala Madigan, CEO of the IPCC, joins StreamScapes today to discuss how these natural environments are so important to us ecologically and culturally.The IPCC encourages you to become a citizen scientist and take part in the Hop To It frog survey - https://www.ipcc.ie/help-ipcc/hop-to-it-national-frog-survey-irelandcard/
