Writing about MY ACCIDENT to move on - We Deserve Better - Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

Listeners are invited to call in with their own stories! Dorrin B. Rosenfeld (that's me) will discuss the process of sitting down and clearly describing THE accident and the recovery that's been slowly occurring over the last 40 years in The Day I Got Hit by the Tortilla Truck. I was able to draw on my family's memories and their reactions when the accident initially happened followed by the initial hospitalization. This was prior to a period of a great deal of therapy and Recovery. Then came the Desire to Return to Life, so I re-entered the Peace Corps and Belize, Central America (where the accident occurred.) While there, I met a Chiropractor who helped me heal, and created my desire to go to Chiropractic College. Getting through that was tough as I didn't necessarily realize how different my life was following my accident. Sure, I knew some things were upside down, but I had (growing up) always counted on my ability to function in any academic environment. The differences were suddenly undeniable. We are all affected uniquely as a result of our TBI's and we all have an individual history. However, I've discovered that some circumstances are universal and inescapable: 1) things will be different afterwards, 2) the brain will have some pathways closed off, so new ones must be created and 3) balance/co-ordination issues will express themselves differently in each of us. With the realization (and acceptance) of these changes, life will continue. This is where my Guardian Angel enters the picture, someone who allows me to heal and be the best self I can be..

Story of a survivor - by Kat Littlewolf -We Deserve Better - Dorrin R.

My guest did not show up for the episode, so I spent an hour talking about the various ways a head-injury can impact our lives and where one can turn for help.  B Kathleen Llewellyn Littlewolf will be on this show tonight describing her situation being brain injured and unable to get decent care for her failing eyesight. Brain Injury is a difficult disability because it is unseen in many cases. She feels like she is being shunted aside and overlooked. She is searching for a community as she feels alone. Unfortunately, this is not a unique situation, and many different survivors face it at many different levels. We all have individual circumstances that define our lives and I invite anyone else with a story to tell to come on the show and describe it.

PhotoLight Therapy on We Deserve Better with Dr. Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

My guest tonight is Dr. David Yates, DC. He is an Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractor who will talk about his work with a therapy that can be used by anyone for healing. The specific technology he will discuss concerns natural healing via light using waste products from the body's normal processes. In the current world of aging baby boomers (of which your host proudly classifies herself) stem cell technologies have become increasingly popular. By reactivating old and damaged cells, the hope is that the body can live much healthier and better for a longer time.  Dr.David Yates DC, PRS classifies himself as an Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractor Posture Reset Specialist. As such, his main goal is to help manage back and neck pain through the use of spinal adjustments. He concentrates on one's ability to maintain good overall alignment. I know this is crucial because most people who come to our office these days, complain of poor posture. As part of his job, he is a PhotoLight Therapy Technology Specialist. What that means is that he utilizes the current technology of LifeWave to help his clients heal faster, while managing their pain. He does this through the use of LifeWave patches. These patches are a form of phototherapy that when placed on the body, traps heat that the body produces naturally in its performance of everyday functions. This heat is captured in the form of infrared light. This light is then reflected in various different wavelengths of light depending on the type of patch used for different health benefits. To explain these patches, we have Caesar Gomez on the call as well.

Coping strategies for Fibromyalgia on We Deserve Better - Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

This is a great show, but it starts with some bumps, etc. My first guest has a wealth of information on fibromyalgia after the rough start of silence, then a short song (Nicholas Statan) with some intense feedback. Your host had some technical difficulties on her end. I have  a couple different people talking about their individually developed living strategies for Fibromyalgia and other chronic problems. My first guest is Carey Rowan. She was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia as a small girl. She has had years to manage her situation and the resulting illnesses. She has arranged it so that her condition hasn't overtaken her body. I say resulting illnesses because she was also diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) early on. She was told that the IBS is a common occurrence with Fibromyalgia. However, I have seen in my practice of Chiropractic that they are not always linked. Another guest will be discussing her experience with Fibromyalgia - Michele Lane. She has a completely different symptom picture from Carey, because she often gets a fever with her fibromyalgia. I have an advantage in this case because my adjustments, as a Chiropractor, cause her fever to break, here and now. She has had it for many years as have others members of her family including her mother and sister. She finds when the weather gets cold, that her aches and pains (associated with the chronic disease) worsen. As a chiropractor, I also see different experiences between these 2 women as Michele clearly feels an immediate effect on both her mood and physical presentation alter significantly during a physical adjustment. Carey, on the other hand doesn't really feel too much at the time of her adjustment, but she finds regular adjustments help her in the navigation of her daily life. I welcome other comments from listeners during the show.

After effects of a TBI - Dorrin Rosenfeld on We Deserve Better

Your host, Dr. Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC will be talking about navigating our lives following a brain trauma. There are expected changes after a TBI and some unexpected ones as well. I can talk about my own experience, and everyone's is different. I'm in the process of writing a book _My Guardian Angel Has a Sense of Humor_ because I believe we always get what we ask for, WHETHER IT'S REALLY WHAT WE WANTED, OR NOT.  As I've written, we often beg for an immediate solution, when we have several things going on in our minds at the time. We might very well get them all, in spite of just the one we ask for. It's impossible to actually know what's going to happen, but there are some expected physical symptoms following a brain injury. The brain swells and sends out "the alarm chemicals" immediately following a trauma. These cause inflammation and swelling that can last for weeks, months, or years, depending on the severity of the trauma. This swelling then causes the symptoms we see. As everyone in this community knows, there are others, as well Medical imaging tests cannot show what's going on inside the mind. Several years following my trauma, I knew I was different, but the MDs said that everything looked normal. A diagnosis is for the MD, not the patient. There is usually complicating factors such as mental and psychological changes that are not officially diagnosed. Then there are the changes wrought by  the medications we take. So, nothing is the same AFTERWARDS, nor guaranteed.   I'd love to hear from others who have had uprooting of their lives following a TBI.

    ABI hospice care Mara Harris

This show is for those with TBIs; however, there is a larger community of those with an ABI. It might be the same or different individuals, but the important thing is to realize that we're all in this journey together. First, it's important to ask, what exactly is a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and what is an  ABI (Acquired Brain Injury). Mara Harris will use the personal experience she has from a partner in the past.with an ABI. A Recreational Therapist who was a counselor at SDMC (san Diego Mesa College) - ABI clinic led them to find helpful counseling and resources. As she was observing the program from the outside, she met some unique characters, whom she wants to talk about. In addition, there were services and benefits of a helpful community. Daily resources in memory and cignitive capacities leads to higher self-esteem. When Mara came to Vallejo, she met several people with ABIs. She knew by noticing rhythms and signs. She stresses that one should never assume the presence of an ABI - one must always ask. That is not something to be afraid of, simply use compassion and patience. She has current experience with an older friend being diagnosed with dementia. This friend had multiple ski accidents, and Mara wonders what would she be like if she had been diagnosed correctly at the time? With the presence of an ABI, the crucial factor is to slow life down! That is the gift that those with ABI have for the rest of the world filled with  Supposedly Normals. Her experience with ABI gives her skills and experience to deal with others with cognitive disabilities - ABI or not.

Mastering Your Life on We Deserve Better - Dr. Dorrin

Sherry Stirling Fernandez has written Life Mastery: Personal Progression Toward an Infinite Potential. She grew up in the midst of family chaos with two unstable and unhappy parents with dysfunctional childrearing. Still, Sherry knew that she was destined for great things.  She found a way to do that, and wants to help you achieve this life, also. If you are not progressing toward a better version of yourself, you can never achieve any true sense of joy… For happiness comes from recognizing and celebrating the fulfillment of your personal goals no matter how challenging -- and then setting out on the road to the next one. Her incredibly powerful book provides you the keys to embark on this quest—the determination of your WHY—without which you will likely fail quickly. The WHAT—what needs your focus and attention to achieve Life Mastery in eight different aspects of your life. And the HOW—getting an assessment of where you are; what goals and action steps to take. This manual gives you everything you need to get you on the road to Life Mastery, and inspires you to take that first step! Along the way, Sherry tells her own inspiring story: how she left home at 17, became pregnant and got married - all before 22. She, with her husband and 6 children, began to explore personal development through books, tapes and live events. They found a better, more rewarding and financially strong life, including the launch of FitMania, a boutique fitness and personal development business. It was the transformation of her clients that led to coaching individuals on achieving full Life Mastery. Her book has a tool that lets readers know what areas of their life need work to improve. Then instead of  slipping back into old habits without a practical accountable way to implement that change, this book teaches Life Mastery through continued progress., and ultimately prolonged happiness.

Dreaming on We Deserve Better with Dr. D

Our dreams are something that is a part of us and what we feel and believe."Dreams are a universal human experience that can be described as a state of consciousness characterized by sensory, cognitive and emotional occurrences during sleep. The dreamer has reduced control over the content, visual images and activation of the memory." Are you a dreamer? Are your dreams in color? Do they come when you have a particularly challenging experience happening soon? We all have them and they are a part of our selves. Most people believe they have meaning, although what that meaning is, is a mystery. I find whenever I have a repeating dream, I will have it for several days or weeks (or months) until I sit down and analyze it. Then it seems to resolve the underlying tension, and it will disappear for good. Does anyone else find this to be the case? Please call in 424-243-9540 on Thurs at 7 PM, PST and press "1" to let us know your thoughts!

Dealing with trauma; Jason Jurado on We Deserve Better - Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

Tonight's show will deal with TRAUMA. Jason Jurado defines the subject which we (in the brain-injured community) know about all too well. We  have all developed stories which we tell ourselves related to our individual circumstances. These histories can be dealt with using Time-Line therapy, a part of Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) specifically designed to deal with phobias, which are actually nothing more than negative emotions from the past. He explains that these events build on each other and can have a cumulative effect until the chain is broken.. The definitive way to stop these spiralling emotions is to delve into the primary trauma that actually began the cycle . This root trauma may or may not be the specific head injury which changed your life. In order to let these emotions go, it's necessary to learn to let this trauma, with all its complications and emotions, permanently go. He uses the metaphor - it's like road-rage; the car pulling in front of you is annoying, but in itself, it's not the direct cause of the immediate emotional outburst. Polyvagal Theory focuses on the vagus nerve and it's relationship to the nervous system. The body moves back and forth among particular sympathetic and para-sympathetic states. By responding appropriately to these waves of emotion, we can learn to use our past for benefit rather than inappropriate behavior.

The Healing Sound of Peruquois - We deserve better - Dr. Dorrin

Peruquois brings forth a healing sound that is part singing in a range never heard before part multidimensional healing, and part evoking the feminine goddess within. She uses her sounds to free women from emotional traumas, anxiety, limitations, and self-recrimination, etc. Peruquois leads women to love themselves and their bodies, and discover wholeness in their sensuality.  Today, we will tell how her unique voice unfolded! Tragically, she lost her father as a baby. Then came a botched operation to detach & reattach both legs for a genetic hip rotation. Her suffering committed her to rising above the pain. She ran away from home and following a crash course in music education, she entered college as a jazz vocalist. Then, Peruquois created her first band, and her music career took off in the Australian jazz scene, but left her miserable and unfulfilled. Turning to nature for healing, she had a transcendent experience which led to many years as the wife and apprentice of a Native American medicine man, who also had other wives! She molded them into a sisterhood to cure their husband of bone cancer, medically validated. She ultimately left him and set out on her own again when a vision quest showed her she was to inspire millions of people to return to harmony and balance. Through concerts and workshops around the world, she's helped hundreds of thousands of people to deal with stress and anxiety during the pandemic.  Go to www.peruquois.com to experience her first hand.

Salt makes a difference on We Deserve Better with Dr. Dorrin

Samantha Skyring will discuss salt tonight and its impact on our health, hydration and performance. Most of us are familiar with the 3 main types of salt which all have problems. SEA SALT which is full of plastics and the other pollution from the ocean. TABLE SALT which is made from sea salt, so it is heavily processed and refined, sometimes bleached, and added are chemicals and anti-caking agents to stop salt from absorbing moisture. And HIMALAYAN SALT, which is not renewable. The alternative is Oryx Desert Salt. This is naturally organic and full of minerals. It is found in an underground lake from the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. This is Desert Salt - a new category of salt. It is not polluted, as it is 175 miles from people. It is from an underground salt lake, which is renewed & sustained by 3 rivers that flow 100-300 ft below the ground. Because the area is so remote, oryx salt is naturally organic and  contains essential minerals & trace elements balanced by nature. It flows through rocks tested at 300 million years old. It has not been touched by humans (a rare phenomenon on the planet). Because of its nature, nothing is added.  The company which makes Oryx Desert Salt uses ceramic grinder heads (which don’t grind plastic into your food) They are environmentallyresponsible, being refillable and reusable countless times. They also make a salt which tastes more full than sea salt (which is generally bitter, sharp and aggressive with an after taste. They are all about giving back. https://www.xauslodge.co.za/news/oryx-desert-salt-supports-community

Dealing with the winter Blahs on We Deserve Better - Dr. Dorrin Rosenfeld

Winter is that time of year when nothing seems right to you and you don't want to work or play or do much of anything. I know I feel that way, so it is extra important to Exercise, Eat right, Take those vitamins and sleep well. Like most head injury victims, I can't seem to sleep more than 5 hours a night (and sleeping during the day is a lost cause). Oh well, I used to sleep well, so I guess I have a stash built up. I'm going to talk tonight about the importance of keeping life going strong with strong and focused ideas and goals. Any time period is relatively short and spring is just around the corner. I try to keep focused by eating right, moving right, and thinking right. Sometimes I succeed better than other times. But not losing hope is key, if you're just hoping for better times, the brain doesn't know the diiference between what is true and what is simply a hope; so when they say, "Fake it until you make it, they couldn't be more right!"

Carrie Hart - Seeker of a meaningful life on We Deserve Better - Dr. Dorrin

Carrie Hart explains How We Can Walk a Path Of Destiny Through A Universe That is Actively Weaving a Web of Connections. She Rebounded from Grief & Loss By Seeking Her Way in That Expanded Plane  Throughout her life, Carrie Hart made occasional unexpected visits to Ataquay, In her computer business, she'd often go against all reason–trusting her intuition--in estimating how long a task would require when leading her team—and  she was always right. When she was 50, she became a true sojourner in the land of Ataquay… the energetic field beyond ordinary time and space, where everything that is, was and will be exists in a state of pregnant possibility, the place of shared expanded consciousness—the place where everything is connected and seeming “coincidences” are more than just happenstance. Her book Sojourner in Ataquay: Mind-Expanding Ideas and Practical Tools for the Open-Minded Seeker of a Meaningful Life –tells how she was practically an atheist but became to an open channel for her guide to Ataquay (AH-tuh-kway), Quado, who was leading her into adventures throughout Ataquay. She then began helping herself and others to heal by taking them on shamanic journeys to meet their Power Animals. When her husband died, after 46 years of marriage, she went to Ataquay to heal. And there, also, she discovered how to rebound into a vibrant life all on her own. Accessing Ataquay is something anyone can do, but it’s like following a well-worn path—the more you do it, the easier it is—and the more expansive the experience. Over 25 years, Carrie has explored Ataquay deeply and calls it “the place I love most in the world.”

The Mind-Eye Institute and TBI's on "We Deserve Better" with DrD

Myrna Hayes will discuss her experience following a Traumatic Brain Injury, Nothing she tried worked  until she explored "Mind-Eye Institute". Now, Myrna is able to work and think coherently by wearing special glasses. These glasses were individually created for her using her particular pattern of navigation of the world. She will talk tonight about the use and care of these lenses. The Mind-Eye Institute is an optometry practice (for almost 30 years) with an emphasis on neuro-optometric rehabilitation. That is, working with the whole patient, not just the eyes. Their purpose is to connect optometry with brain function for better use the brain in daily functioning. By coordinating the eyes, ears, and brain, the signals travel in a unique pathway for each person using the patterns specific to each person. The Mind-Eye Research Division is very active, focusing on mining the secrets of retinal, electrical and biochemical connections and how they affect cardiac, endocrine, neurological and other systems. They work with cases of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), Post-Concussive Syndrome, challenges related to Autism, as well as learning and developmental challenges. We also have a representative, Cathy Grochowski, a patient care advocate from the Mind-Eye Inst. who will briefly discuss the neuroscience  behind the coordination of the audio and visual systems to offer the patients a lasting and profound impact following brain trauma. She was the victim of her own TBI prior to her discovery of, and later employment with, the Mind-Eye Inst.

Change on We Deserve Better with Dr Dorrin

There is no scheduled guest tonight, but I have arranged for several of my friends and patients to call in to discuss their experiences, from the survivor to the caregiver. Any caller will be given the floor to talk about what changes in physical status, emotional responses or psychological mindscapes may be expected with a head injury. These changes are different for everyone and as a Chiropractor, I will talk about some of the things I have heard over the last 30 years. We all deal with head trauma within our own bodies and minds, but it isn't strictly an internal process as we have to live in the world also. Other people's perceptions and our reactions come into play, through the process of living and that cannot be avoided. People have developed many strategies for dealing with their own altered reality and these changes will continue to affect them and their world. We have special talks by my husband Robert M. Woolery, DC who was in a severe accident as a child; and Michele, my piano instructor, who was a caregiver for her daughter, who had a head trauma at birth

Jovanka Ciares - Wellness is for Everyone on We Deserve Better - Dr. Dorrin

Jovanka believes that wellness is for everyone - both young and old, sick and healthy, rich and poor, and all races and ethnicities. Wellness is not a single thing we do all at once, but a lifestyle which ultimately increases happiness by unlocking, so we can access the full potential lying within. It is about understanding our choices and owning them. Sure there will be roadblocks, and that’s to be expected! In the big picture, wellness is about being at peace IN and WITH the world. We are each an integral part of the whole that we call the universe. The energy that emanates from each of us, as well as from plants and animals, is intertwined. Our daily choices touch millions of lives; and being aware of this interconnectedness fosters a holistic awareness of our place in the world and helps us make positive, conscious choices every day. America's citizens have an extremely reduced lifespan. But that can be changed. The United States has one of the lowest life expectancies in the industrialized world. However, nearly 80 percent of heart disease and related deaths can be prevented with diet and lifestyle choices. Wellness is about creating balance and strengthening the connection between our physical, mental, and spiritual selves. As a result, what we do to achieve wellness will vary depending on what needs more attention at any particular time; whether it be somatic, dietary, psychic or emotional.

Raja Marhaba (The Jonathan Foundation) on We Deserve Better - Dorrin Rosenfeld

There has been an emergency change in speakers tonight! See description below!! In this country, we have a broken Special Education System. Raja Marhaba created the Jonathan Foundation (TheJonathanFoundation.org) to help families in need of Special Education Resources. In spite of many educators trying to help, there are many families that attend Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings and do not know their rights nor do they understand the assessment process. Tthe Jonathan Foundation is a bridge between the education process and the families that are attempting to navigate it on their own. Just because many families have a loved one in the system, there is no guarantee they know how best to help. They often do not know their own rights, nor do they understand how these rights apply to their individual circumstances. To help people locate the help they need, the Jonathan Foundation has a Psychoeducational Assessment Scholarship Program. This program provides private assessments that are administered by highly qualified assessors.  As well as continuity among programs and administrators, this program offers advocacy services for families needing guidance and support. The Jonathan Foundation provides various resources that place the families on the right path.

Noah Hammond Tyrrell - CEO of Feel Good Hemp (FeelGoodHemp.org) - is our speaker tonight. He is an engineer, spiritual healer, mystic and former sportsman from High Dchool. He has become a practitioner of meditation, business coach, martial artist and spiritual mystic who believes in leaving a ripple of love to encircle the world. This story begins with Noah at Rock Bottom. He was newly married to his wife Danielle, when a risky business shift left his wife and him essentially broke and homeless. Your tour guide for happiness - We Deserve Better with Dorrin Rosenfeld

Jason Jurado, a life coach, will assist you to discover your true path and support you in achieving your Goals. Every person is unique and during your first consultation, he works with you to discover what you would like to achieve. Then, the two of you will discuss how he can best support the actualization of your Goals. Jason's coaching is goal-oriented and collaborative. In order to best achieve your Goals it is crucial to release the stress, anxiety and/or frustration that comes up around them. He has participated with a group called Veterans Path (previously Honoring the Path of the Warrior) that is a meditation and mindfulness based organization based in SF. There, Jason saw how this work could support those people with TBIs. Although he doesn't specifically work on those injuries, a common sequelae of a brain injury is stress and anxiety (which we all know about on this platform!) and by alleviating the stress and anxiety you can live a happier and healthier life. Jason wants to know if there is something you are working towards achieving that you see as being the end Goal? It is important to ask yourself these questions. What is the purpose of having this goal? What will it do for me? How will I feel upon achieving it? And why is it important that I achieve this? He works with you throughout this process, so you can identify your real Goal and then you are more empowered to achieve those goals. Finally, he wants to remind us that happiness is achievable and it is an end unto itself.

A State of Pure Consciousness on we Deserve Better with Dorrin Rosenfeld

C von Hassett and Rachel Wilkie, a married couple, will discuss his book Entering the Mind. There is a place beyond even simple meditation. A place where you become aware of your awareness, to experience the totality of space, freedom, and oneness with infinity. This is your “mind in its natural state,” where your ego, your “I”-ness, your labels or your addictions just disappear. Hassett maintains that once you’ve stepped over the threshold, to experience this awakened state, it is easier and easier to attain it—and there is no going back! Being bogged down in the “conceptual mind” pales in comparison and holds no attraction. Entering the Mind is a guidebook which lays open the deepest secrets taught in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of Dzogchen, considered the highest wisdom practice known to man. No need to go live in a cave in India or become a lifetime follower of a guru . . . Hassett hands you the key to this beckoning doorway with age-old meditation practices that take you straight into pure consciousness. There you will find not a nothingness, but what you experience firsthand is an emptiness, an incredible spaciousness—and therein lies your freedom! With remarkable clarity and beautiful prose, Hassett enables you to travel the inner path to a state of no depression, fear, anxiety, or worry. A writer, editor and publisher of Riot Material magazine, C von Hassett practices Dzogchen, an ancient way pointing the individual inward toward the recognition of their own mind, towards awakening. He and his wife, Rachel Reid Wilkie are committed to bringing Dzogchen to the wider world as a way to open the wellspring of love, joy, compassion, ease and peace for all of humankind.

The Formula for Miracles: Where Science Reveals the Secrets of Spirit  is part of a 3 volume series by Brent Michael Phillips, an Amazon.com #1 best-selling author. He discusses mystical phenomena such as instant healing, intuition, the Law of Attraction, and experiences of higher consciousness (seeing energy or auras). Most people consider these phenomena as either total nonsense, or reserved for only a few special individuals. However, the truth is that there is a simple scientific basis for energy healing and mind power, which is available to everyone. Quite simply, what we call a “miracle” is just any phenomena which can’t be explained by current science or technology.  Author, healer, and MIT-trained engineer, Mr. Phillips has dedicated his training and experience to discovering and demystifying the science behind instant healings and Enlightenment. He has spent years studying with the world’s best healers, psychics, and teachers to figure out exactly what they do! He feels anyone who reads his series can learn quickly and easily. Steve Frank - master herbalist on We Deserve Better with Dr. Dorrin

After many years of working with allopathic medicine, Steve Frank found his way into herbal medicine.  Studying with Herbalists, Physicians, Chiropractors and Physical Therapists led Mr. Frank to the development of a number of products for the treatment of common physical injuries and maladies utilizing natural medical techniques. Drawing from thousands of years of traditional herbal remedies and the latest modern physiology and healing studies, he has synthesized some natural products that complement the directions and actions of the constantly adapting human body. These products address issues of sleep disturbance, injured tissue repair, infection control and hormonal balance.  Years of clinical studies, laboratory work and treatment experience have demonstrated the utility of these products. Mr. Frank now offers these products through Nature’s Rite to empower everyone who seeks to regain and maintain health naturally. Steve Frank came to rely on herbs through the journey from standard "Western" medicine to the more complementary practice of "Eastern" medicine in which the body has the power to heal itself. He started his career (40 years ago) designing modern medical equipment for large corporations. That led to the development of specialty experimental equipment for medical researchers. From there, he was led to what he does today - use natural products for ubiquitous problems that seem to affect most people.

Divine Mother Healing: Vibrational Healing on We Deserve Better - Dr Dorrin

In College, Connie Huebner challenged God to show her that He existed. One night, she was swept into an incredible experience of Oneness. Never the same again, she spent the next several years looking for others who lived in that reality, including Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and Ram Dass. Not satisfied, she tried to “seek... the Kingdom of Heaven within.”  In her search for answers, she saw profound changes in herself and others.  She explored Jesus and the Ascended Masters—and finally after 13 years -- experienced the Divine Mother, the feminine force of Creation, (the female aspect of God)! Connie became a leading teacher, for the past 20 years, of Divine Mother's healing and wisdom for humanity. Huebner has honed, refined, employed and taught the Vibrational Healing Tools that have been introduced to her via Divine Mother. She has seen rapid clearing of emotional and physical blocks, negative influences, karmic residue that occur from the infusion of Divine Power, Love and Truth. She introduces people directly to Divine Mother through her energy healings, teachings, and the Divine Mother Church, which she founded. She writes about this in her new book: Divine Mother Healing: Vibrational Healing Tools for Your Body, Mind and Spirit. Connie has various sessions to select specific tools for individual circumstances. She also shows you how to apply these vibrational tools to others in your world, asking why, how and when you should use them; how to increase their effectiveness. Connie introduces readers to the impact of the wisdom of Divine Mother, Divine Light & Love, and Vibrational Healing Tools.  She also guides seekers on how they can directly receive the wisdom through the Divine Mother Course. The book is a great starting place.  The show starts a little roughly, but after a few minutes, we're on!!

Pat Karns discusses laser-light for chronic pain on We Deserve Better - DrDorrin

Pat Karns is an award winning, internationally known professor and writer of sports medicine trends. He has spent his life working with Olympic and Professional athletes. He currently concentrates on medical advocacy for the retired athlete. Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has revolutionized the treatment of negative arthritis symptoms through natural pain relief. His organization uses a low level (cold) laser to treat specific body parts such as the low back, knees or ankles. Or this device can be used for neurodegenerative diseases that produce chronic pain and inflammation such as fibromyalgia or arthritis.Used by Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Sports Medicine Drs, or Podiatrists, this treatment is an alternative to painful surgeries and large doses of medication. LLLT works to treat chronic pain by improving micro-circulation and reducing inflammation. These Energies target the pain deep in the muscle tissues resulting in restored blood flow.. As blood and oxygen are then able to properly flow to and from the affected part of the body, cells and tissues are also renewed and repaired. This decreases the overall recovery period of degenerative diseases, allowing you and your loved ones to take steps towards regaining your regular lifestyle without being hindered by amplified pain and its effects on your outlook on life. The best part is NO SIDE EFFECTS. You can start treatment when pain strikes, rather than scheduling an appointment, travelling and paying extra expensive fees. Right here and now, you can stimulatie the blood circulation around the affected areas to increase glucose levels to produce faster wound healing. Mr. Karns consults with osteopaths, physical therapists, and plant-based medicine companies

The Gut-Brain connection on We Deserve Better with Dr. Dorrin

Michelle Maddux, ND will help us understand the crucial interaction between the brain and the gut, tonight. She will discuss the connection between our metabolism, the foods we eat, and the central nervous system.. This is not something new, but our understanding of this connection is one thing that is driving our understanding of what we eat and the connection with our mood. Our gut contents can often cause or clear neuro-psychiatic problems. We can improve our memory, our stress response, our balance and our decision-making by the simple step of improving our gut. Our age is something that is unchangeable, but (I'm sure you've noticed that) age affects different people differently. It becomes less of a determinate of our health, by an improvement in diet, exercise, our medications, and probiotic supplements (eg. Omni-Biotic Stress Release). . The genes we inheret from our parents are stable, but other genes, our microbial genes can change throughout our lives. The number of human:microbial cells is considered along the lines of 1:1, although microbial genes certainly outnumber ours considerably. This means that our moods, decision-making ability, and memory are greatly influenced by what we put into our gut. There is a physical barrier between the gut and the body to prevent infection, but sometimes this protective layer can be compromised.  Most of us have heard of "leaky gut," but Dr. Maddux is here to tell us how to prevent that and help increase our mental, our physical, and our psychological health.

THE ART OF SYMEON SHIMIN on We Deserve Better - DrD

The Art of Symeon Shimin is the first and only collection of the fine artwork of this exceptional artist. This beautiful coffee table book was curated and edited by his daugher, Tonia. He was a Russian-born Jewish artist, who was deeply involved with justice and the human condition. This book includes his artwork, archival photographs, his autobiography Metamorphosis: The Early Years and essays by other arts writers. He became an artist at a young age, although he had no idea how or why it happened as he had wanted to be a musician. After he was told he was not allowed to do that, he began to draw for the 1st time in his life, and continued throughout his life. The significance of that transformation, when he was 11 years old, is that from the beginning, he drew as an adult does, not as a child. He was drawn to people as subjects his entire life.  He was fascinated by the teeming life around him in NY city. Peoples' "haunting faces and their dignity never left me," he says. He painted large-scale posters for Hollywood films (including the original poster for the film Gone With the Wind). In 1936, he was awarded a contract by the PWAP, Public Works Art Project, to paint a mural, Contemporary Justice and The Child, in the department of Justice building in Washington, DC. It took him 4 years to complete and it can still be seen today. Beginning in 1950, he became an award-winning illustrator of children's books illustrating 57 books for children, including two that he also authored. Throughout his life, he painted canvases that have been exhibited at numerous museums and galleries. The collection of his artwork will be discussed by his daughter, Tonia Shimin, tonight.

A journey toward recovery, Brenda Joyce Crawford, on We Deserve Better- DrDorrin

Brenda Joyce Crawford will share some insights into her journey towards recovery from her stroke many years ago. This was not a single effort, as she was aided by her partner, Tonya Williams, and her recovery coach, Carl Warren (whom she has worked with for a couple decades). She and these 2 others, who were a part of her journey, will share on tonight's show. She will discuss the term "stroke survivor." Often times when stroke survivor are mentioned, it is mostly about theirr disabiities. Instead the term should be an opportunity to finally give up the stressor and negative thoughts that cause the brain to explode in the first case. Brenda believes that, In order to recover, stroke survivors have the retrain the brain. This includes the process of discontinuing activities that were contributing factors to the stroke in the first place. She believes that overall, her stroke was a blessing for which she is eternally grateful. Finally, the stroke was the proximal cause of the present of the book: Stroke of Insight which she will also discuss tonight. That book was a birthday gift from a friend who died because she was poor and had insufficient insurance. This book leads into the discussion about low-cost state-funded long term care for seniors. This care would cut down the dollar amount of nursing homes and allow seniors to age in place.  --Guest was 15 minutes late in arriving, but then she came on to discuss local politics and stroke-survivor care.

Have patience with yourself on We Deserve Better with Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

Krista Tedder is a researcher and writer focusing on technology innovation. This was a skill learned after her brain injury in 2011. This injury caused her to lose skills that she wasn't able to recover. Unable to do the computer skills required to build technology, she needed to learn how to pivot. The journey of healing is physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Krista will share what she has learned on the path to healing. The journey is ongoing, with improvements and setbacks being a part of life.  Krista underwent a medical mistake causing the surgeon to cut directly into her brain. She had 30 surgeries that year to attempt to fix the problem. Needless to say, she is a very different person post-surgery than the woman who entered the hospital initially. She apparently died several times during the surgery. The life she lives now is one fraught with problems paying attention and reading. She's done a tremendous of amount of self-healing work and has engaged the services of many rehabilition counselors throughout the process. However, only so much can be done after the brain damage has occurred, as many of us know.. She has to have tremendous patience with herself to live through each day. She believes we each to have know our limitations, and give ourselves a great deal of patience and positivity every second. She has greatly improved her life through diet and exercise.  Following the botched surgery, she was left with PTSD, seizures and several diagnosed types of Headaches, including migraines. She eliminated them through the changes in lifestyle. She has had a dizzying amount of therapy, but the results prove themselves as you will hear on the conversation. One added note, (like me) she is married to another survivor!

Banish your allergies with no pain on We Deserve Better -- DrD

The Allergy Kit can help anyone permanently remove their allergies without pain, or needles, or drugs. Ynge Ljung is an Acupuncturist, a Natural Healer, and the creator of the Allergy Kit. This set of tools is non-invasive and can be used by your whole family in a non-threatening and helpful way.  As a nutritional expert, she can create tailor-made menus to fine tune her specific allergy treatments. If live sessions are a problem, she works over the phone or Zoom. She works with the BodyCode;  a process this allows her to locate hidden emotions buried in different parts and organs in the body. By identifying these buried clues, she can then specifically and accurately treat the puzzle she finds for each individual and help permanently remove the triggers of the individual allergies she finds. The Allergy Kit is the culmination of 20 years of research and development. After treating thousands of patients in our acupuncture office, she has developed a treatment that's simple and effective. This home treatment protocol uses a red cold laser that allows you to naturally eliminate your allergies and their symptoms. It provides long lasting allergy relief season after season. Finally, you can get your life back and eliminate your allergies once and for all. ---Ynge Ljung never made it to the show, but I have studied allergies some, and spent an hour talking about the best ways to deal with them, or mitigate them. Self-improvement and growth on We Deserve Better - Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

Sabine Gedeon had enough. Her life had been a torture from the moment of birth in Haiti when her mother rejected her and things only got worse from there. She came to the US and while in the care of relatives as a young child, experienced a gang rape by cousins. Over the years, many other personal betrayals followed including lovers, friends, co-workers and even church members that she considered "family." Love and trust always ended in pain for Sabine, leading her to perceive herself as worthless and alone. After years of struggle and hurt, she was prepared to take the pills she had in hand. But before she did, she expended her pain and rage at God, and told him that, "in fact, if He was real, and didn't want me to move forward with my plans, that I needed Him to prove it to me!" God showed up for her and gave her comfort through that night. Thus begins Sabine's story of transformation, her version of a caterpillar emerging from a chrysalis into a beautiful, graceful butterfly. In her new book TRANSFORMED: The Journey to Becoming, Sabine chronicles what took her to such depths and how she followed that divine intervention with a relentless pursuit of self-improvement and purposeful growth, despite the deep pain from her transformation.  Today, Sabine Gedeon, is the Founder and CEO of Gedeon Enterprises, providing coaching and consulting services to ambitious, mission-driven leaders. With over 15 years' experience serving as an HR professional, and personal coach,Sabine has helped hundreds of professionals break through barriers, build their leadership, and experience growth in their lives and careers. She sought counseling, committed to her personal growth, forgave her betrayers, and vowed to leave counterproductive people and thoughts behind.

A Disability Advocate on We Deserve Better with Dr. Dorrin Rosenfeld, DC

Brain injury is always traumatic, difficult, and may have unforeseen consequences; but it can also become an inspiration for future activites. We see all of these facets in my guest tonight - Phillip Colvard. This was a man poised on the brink of his emergence into adulthood when he was involved in a car accident that changed his life forever. After a period of unconsciousness (Glasgow coma scale of 3-4), he faced rehabilitation and saw 1st-hand how difficult it is to navigate the world with barriers both from a brain injury and the world's reaction to brain trauma. Brain Injury is often called an unseen disability, because it is not immediately obvious to outsiders. That does not mean it is any less of a struggle to the survivor. This injury has various consequences which people have learned to live with over time. These daily struggles (although different for individuals) can be partially alleviated by public measures such as the ADA (Am. Disabil. Act) compliance for housing, transportation, and the various tools required in a work environment such as chairs, phones, lighting, computers, and bathrooms. Who better to represent the brain injured citizen than an advocate with his own brain injury?  He has said it is his passion to protect rights for disability patients. Phil will discuss his particular accident, the type of work he's done, why that is so necessary, and the project he's currently working on.
