Talkin' Hockey - The Hockey Talkin' Show

After a week to rest and recuperate after a stellar Pledge-O-Rama show, the boys are back and we're talkin' Buds baby!  Maybe the last great Leaf's team - the 1993-94 edition that featured a real cast of characters lead by leading scorers Doug Gilmour, Dave Andreychuk and Captain Wendel Clark, plus mid-season pickup Mike Gartner and Dave Ellett and Jamie MacCoun on the blue line!  The Cat, Felix Potvin was one of the league's best tendys that year and helped carry the squad to the conference finals vs. the Canucks where they fell in 5.We're also talkin' present day Leafs, who had a busy week - hiring a new GM and head of Hockey Ops, which turned into a bit of a clown show, before some how securing the top spot and the right to take Gavin McKenna!  Plus, your Winnipeg Jets pick 8th - will they keep the pick, package it for top 6 help, or draft another euroleague superstar who will overstay his welcome down on the farm!Finally, we've got a World Cup of hockey update and another edition of the ol' Parkhurst pack attack!

After an action packed weekend, the lads are here on your radio again ready to talk a little hockey!First up we'll tell you all about the Florida Panthers, '95-'96 edition, who reached the cup final in only their 3rd season in the league!  Lead by the Beezer between the pipes and Scott Mellanby's mullet up front, plus JovoCop in his rookie season, these Cats ran through the Eastern Conference taking out the Bruins, the Flyers and the Penguins before getting swept in the finals by the newly located Colorado Avalanche!In the second, we're joined by bass playin' hockey aficionado Ryan Gullen from The Sheepdogs, who are in town this week to play two shows - a sold out small club gig on Thursday, and then at the Burt on Friday!  Limited tickets are available for that second show, so be sure to get your mitts on 'em fast!Finally in the third, we're talkin' playoffs - who's in and who's out, as we pour one out for the Jets season.  We're saying that there might be a chance, but let's be honest, there's not really much of a chance.  Plus we've got a Hab Trick of stat lines!  

Spring (Leagues) have sprung and the boys are back at it with another action packed episode - today we're highlighting the 1999-00 New Jersey Devils.  Though they didn't sport co-host Jared's favourite red, green and white uni variation, the pride of the Garden State hoisted the cup for the second time in the decade, once again backed by all time stellar 'tendy Marty Brodeur!  A balanced attack featuring Elias, Arnott, Holik, Sykora and rookie of the year winner Scotty Gomez, with Captain Crunch Scott Stevens patrolling the blue line alongside Scott Neidermayer, Brian Rafalski and Ken Daneyko - they topped the Stars 4-2 in the finals and the rest as they say is history!Oddly enough those Devils went on a run following a coaching change with 8 games remaining (Ftorek out, Big Bird in) and the news of the day comes from Vegas where the Knights replaced Bruce Cassidy with our ol' pal Johnny Tortilla with . . . 8 games remaining.  Spooky stuff kids!  Plus we talk about playoff races tightening up and do a double dip into the ol' listener email bag!We've also got a new edition of the pack attack and tell you all about our new Stinky Spring Skate!

After surviving the early wake up call yesterday along with the rest of the nation, the boys are here to talk a little hockey and since we're hittin' the season halfway point more or less, we're throwing a curve ball and talkin' Team Canada, but this one's from the greatest (?!?) tourney ever played - the 1987 Canada Cup!  With names like Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Hawerchuk, Coffey, Murphy and Fuhr, the squad in red and white was a who's who of the best in Canada at the time.  We took on the world, and secured the cup in epic fashion, defeating the Soviet Union in game 3 of the best of 3 take all!  There's never going to be another one like it, so go watch these games wherever you can Sparky!Then, we recap the double heartbreak from Italy, as both the Men's and Women's squads lose their quest for Olympic gold vs the USA - in overtime no less!  Should 3 on 3 play determine the winners on such a worldwide scale?  Could a 75% Sid helped the Canadian squad?  Who got the easy A's graded for their play?  And is it to early to look ahead to the French Alps in 2030?Then, we wrap up Garage League regular season play and hunt for 'tendys in the Pro Set Pack Attack!

It's our final episode for 2025, so we've got 2 plus hours of hockey talk for all you beauties out there!We'll start off talkin' about the 2007-08 Penguins, who were captained by a 19 year old Sidney Crosby - maybe you've heard of him! He lead the Pens to the cusp of Lord Stanley for the first time, joined by the young core of Malkin, LeTang and Fleury and some old dogs like Roberts, Gonchar, Sydor and Sykora.  Though the lost out in 6 to the Red Wings, it was only a taste of what was yet to com!In the extended second, we're talkin' World Junior's, we try and fix the Jets and then make some Olympic team predictions - so many questions, too many answers, who knows what's yet to come!And in the third, we've got lists o' plenty - some of our favourites from 2025. Plus we play some of our favourite tracks from the year that was!
