James Lankford was elected US Senator for Oklahoma on November 4, 2014. Prior to his time in the Senate, James served in the US House of Representatives from January 2011 until December 2014. Before his election to Congress, James directed the Falls Creek Youth Camp, in Davis, Oklahoma, from 1996 to 2009. He also coordinated mission trips and community service projects in Belize, Malawi, England, Wales, and Germany, as well as many areas across Oklahoma.While serving in the US Senate, James continues to work diligently studying each issue facing Congress and its impact on families in Oklahoma. His Committee assignments include the Committee on Appropriations, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Committee on Indian Affairs. He has repeatedly condemned the Biden Administration’s push for a wide open border and has called out their lack of a plan to secure it. Lankford successfully blocked Biden’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office from opening a “surge overflow facility” at the Great Plains Correctional Institution in Hinton, Oklahoma and visited the southern border after record high border crossings in 2021.
