Ep1: An Introduction to The Business of Gaming

Welcome to the introduction episode of The Business of Gaming! I’m Josh from Game Haven Guild and I created this podcast to explore the world behind your favorite physical games: board games, card games, wargames, RPGs, and the stores and people who bring them to life.In each episode, I’ll sit down with game store owners, indie designers, publishers, event organizers, and other folks who are making a living — or atleast chasing the dream — in the gaming industry. We’ll talk about the challenges, the wins, the hard lessons, and what it really means to turn a love of gaming into a business.A little about me — I spent fourteen years in corporate retail, working in merchandising, planning, and supply chain for both manufacturers and major retailers. I love seeing how products go from concept to shelf, how businesses grow, and how strategy plays out in the real world. But have never worked in gaming. I grew up playing Pokémon tcg and warhammer 40k but after stepping away for over a decade, I recently rediscovered my passion for in person gaming. This podcast is my way of connecting my passions— helping uncover what it takes to succeed in the business side of games. So whether you're a gamer, a store owner, a designer, or just someone curious about the nuts and bolts of this world, you’re in the right place. Hit that subscribe button, and join me on this journey into the business side of fun.
