The Curious Caml

An interview podcast that revolves around finding clarity and entertainment through methodical banter. The conversation is the "Caml" in the room. A vehicle if you will, that transports all involved to a cerebral destination. Courtesy of the Caml. The goal of this podcast is to share ideas, spark creative thoughts, and promote solutions for listeners and panelists alike.

    The Return of The Caml

After over two years of purgatory, I have decided to start recording again. Not on a one-off note either. I genuinely have a lot to talk about, and I know that there are people out there listening. In this episode, I oppose the rhetoric that discourages people from pursuing fulfillment. Specifically, the whole "Take away Podcast Mics" conversation. There is a lot of stigma about men communicating their ideas through software and media. I just had to address it for the start of this season. This podcast is centered around expanding and expressing nodes of thought.3 years of experience working for different levels of government and corporate entities. The gloves are off simply because I do not care to filter myself anymore. This introductory episode sets the tone for how I will carry things forward. When I initially started this podcast, it was a way to bring organized thought to the air and to open a space for intellectual conversation. We are so back. Back..... with the same equipment, of course. Fuck it, though, this shit is overdue

After my 4 month hiatus, I am finally uploading again.  This summer I have been a part of projects, and programs, and all-around busy. Men's Mental Health

In this episode, I host a good friend of mine Isaac O'neal. He has a background in psychology, philosophy, and business consulting. We delve into trends in Men's mental health. Things like suicide rates, depression, and anxiety. More importantly, we spoke about a few things men can do to pull themselves out of psychological distress. Even fulfilling things that men cannot discover on their own. Self-help is cool to an extent. Being as that we are human, it is important for us to have groups of people to navigate life with!

    Artist Showcase: 1AMTwan

In this episode, I host none other than Baltimores' finest 1AMTwan.  I interview him to talk about his journey as a performing artist in the city. Stick around to learn about his upcoming EP DIES IRAE. I am beyond proud to host my good brother in this episode. We have a similar home at the poetry party. Watching him grow into a performing artist has been inspirational and transformative!

    The Baltimore Poet: A'niyah Taylor

I am proud to air this episode! Hosting my good friend, the most illustrious A'niyah Taylor on my podcast. She is a poet with many accolades and performs with a national team.  Outstanding artists like herself are welcome to talk their Ish on my podcast. In this episode, I ask her questions about her experience as a performing artist that competes for big stakes. My favorite thing about this episode is how authentic and pure A'niyah is when it comes to explaining the environment revolving around poetry!

    Growing in a Bubble

In this episode of The Curious Caml Podcast I host Baltimore's finest Kyree Swirving and iHeartAveJoe. Both of these men are  performing artist known for their ability to follow a melody.  Good friends of mine, I've spent hours of time working on my own projects in congruence with the two. Our topic in this episode is about the different pressures creatives face when it comes to gaining exposure, competing, and developing talent. A more laid-back conversation, considering that I know these two I spent less time interviewing them and more time conversing with them.  Stick around till the end to pick up on the new JamlTheCaml podcast tradition !

Studying Abroad and Expanding your Horizons

Lovely on the inside and out, Lundon is a poet, podcast host, and an outstanding artist. I hosted her in this episode of The Curious Caml to talk about the importance of travel and changing scenery.  Major points in our conversation revolve around culture shock, a difference in values, and international travel. Lundon studied abroad for years in high school and college. She was the perfect person to interview for this topic.

    Finding your Tribe at HBCU

In this episode of The Curious Caml I host my great friend Alexis Stevenson. She is a fashion designer, stylist, and model. Her expertise has a wide range and scope. We talk about navigating life in college, finding your tribe, and molding your abilities. It was a pleasure hosting Lex on this episode. There is so much we could have talked about! All the more reason I will host her again in the future.

Nutrition; its relationship to wellbeing and mental health

Soccer coach, marketing professional, and wellness teacher Perry Bagwell is featured on this episode of The Curious Caml Podcast. The topic of this episode revolves around the human experience and well-being.  Well-being is 100% a subjective experience. Perry and I focused our discussion on the wholesome growth connected to feeding your body what it needs.  Nutrition and well-being are about more than dietary habits. One must consider what they feed their mind and spirit as well. You are what you eat. Just as you are what you do.  Be mindful of your daily habits as they may consume you! I would like to thank Perry for his presence on this show. His modesty and professionalism are supreme!

    Winter Blues

Collaborating with Poetry Party family member Keyonna LaShawn in this episode. The winter blues were a common eeriness I noticed in 2022. It felt important to address the depression in the air. Keyonna and I talked about cyclical cynicism and melancholy.  It is interesting how this pattern moves in tandem with the holidays. The worst part is that there are expectations and standards during the holiday season. Doubling down on the bad mood. Disclaimer: I was really far away from my mic at the beginning of this recording. Then at a certain point, my mic fell. Then I got closer to my mic. Y'all know I don't like editing. You're getting this whole episode :D

  12. 32

    Diaspora Wars

This episode is a black history month special. I had the pleasure of hosting a fellow student of CSU Jervonne Agard. He is an international student from the Caribbean. Our conversation revolved around cultural conflicts between descendants of the African Diaspora. Jervonne and I quashed stereotypes, and misnomers, and focused on the powers of unity and interdependence.  One of the most important points I gathered from our conversation was that descendants of the African Diaspora have a similar history, similar culture, and we are clearly related. It was so much fun recording this episode. This podcast is becoming exactly what I wanted it to be.

    Watching Seeds Grow

During the summer of 2021 in Miami, I met Keith at a larger-than-life event. Keith is a Philly-based photographer with other notable talents. We connected as networkers and have since established a relationship grounded on staying motivated. This is why chose the topic "Watching Seeds Grow." There were a few people that supported me when I started respecting myself as the creative that I am. Since then, I have seen my creations uplift my well-being, confidence, and rational. We still have a long way to go, but the sprouts of this show and all my other work are giving me so much joy. Just like a tree that bears fruit, the abundance related to my bounty is allowing me to host a platform that allows people to talk their shit.Remember to follow me @TheCuriousCaml on Instagram for updates :-)

    State of the World Pt.2

This episode is a follow-up of the recording with Gabe. We talk about all manner of things like the Queen of England, Texan Nationalism, and taxes. It is the state of the world. Will we build something new or watch it all burn !!?

  15. 29

The State of the World Pt.1

Months ago, I recorded an episode with an old friend of mine. His name is Gabe Terrones. For a good time in high school, he and I went on countless adventures, survived crazy situations, and eventually graduated high school together. One thing about Gabe and I is that we were never scared to stand out from others. Together we were a band, everywhere we went we made noise. Or music depending on your perspective. This collection of episodes reflects how we perceive the world as we continue to make noise along the way.

    LoneStarWrl (You Are Never Alone)

I've been wanting to host these guys for some time now.  I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to promote the work of Trae Collins. In this episode I discovered that he was the mastermind behind LoneStarWrld .  Mekail and others in their group work to uplift Trae during his creative process. Support like this is necessary for the success of anybody of organizations. Nevertheless, seeing them both grow in their own light has inspired me over the years. I remember these guys from when I was in high school. The way we all grew post-graduation would be a topic for another day. So instead, I chose to focus on the men they are becoming now .

    Astrology For Non-Believers

In this episode of The Curious Caml I host the graceful New Dai Mystic.  A cohort of mine, Daisha is a Poetry Party intern. Working with an artist like NewDai has shown me ways I can make my work even better.  Daisha has influenced my creative process in the past month so it's only right that I share the stage with such a bright individual. She is really into astrology and explains the array of stigmas associated with the modality. It was interesting speaking with her since I learn a lot from her. Enjoy :-)

Sports Media and Why You Should Respect Lamar Jackson

In this episode, I host none other than the professional sports media photographer Michael Chase on The Curious Caml Podcast. Michael Chase is a sports journalist with amazing conviction. He has a point to deliver media through a lens that major media platforms tend to ignore. His range and scope show not only his empathy, but his comprehension of how regular life can affect an athlete's performance. I'm not too familiar with sports so having someone like Michael break things down was a major help. Check out his website and read his blog  @ The Unheralded Sports View (theunheraldedview.com)

    Is fairytale love real?

Another amazing episode in the works. I host the good lady Jasmine (@Blowing.Kissess) on my show to discuss an argument she shared with me some time ago. The idea that fairytale love is not real was brought to my attention. Jasmine firmly believes that it is real, and she will not settle for less.  In this episode, we discuss the difference between the feelings associated with loving someone and being in love with someone. Our conversation could have gone many places as the dimension precipitated around love are not linear. In fact, it is multi-dimensional.  Sadly, Jasmine did have her phone charger, so we had to end the episode short :'( This just means that she will return to speak with us some more. While I'm typing this bio, I just want to say that I love you too! xo <3

  20. 24

    Summertime in the City

In this episode, I brought up a childhood friend of mine to talk about life as a kid in Baltimore city. Our conversation even had us peering into our experiences as adolescence growing into teens. You'll hear about our experiences in middle school and how our choices separated us from crowds and chaos. A reoccurring theme on this podcast is "a change of scenery."  No surprise considering, I did an episode on this. Both D'jah and I got away from the city for some time and returned with new lenses.  Tap in to understand the range of perspectives coming from like-minded individuals. :-]

  21. 23

The Sport, The Lifestyle, The Outcome

We have another fantastic guest. In this episode, I host the glorious Kobie Johnson! He's an outstanding athlete with amazing perception on and off the field. When I met Kobie this summer we talked about lacrosse for about 2hours. Part of that conversation revolved around how aspiring athletes can further their professional life outside of sports. All in all, I knew that I would host Kobie on this show.  Expect to hear from him on this show in the future as well.

    The College to Work Transition

This podcast episode is dedicated to all growing professionals within Corporate America. First off, I want to say that these managers and HR people are not your friends.  Transitioning from life as a college student to life as a corporate employee provokes culture shock equivalent to moving from the county to a city. It's just that surreal. The research of this episode is connected to Wendlandt & Rochlen (2008.) The research is relatively old and equally important. The key point in this research was discovering that  "Overall, research has found that the transition to employment following graduation is often difficult because the skills cultivated in the college classroom typically differ from those required to succeed in the workplace." (Wendlandt & Rochlen, 2008.) I go over their research briefly within the episode :P

    Lyrics, Artistry, and Poptarts

Rolling into my first year of podcasting, I host individuals with diverse backgrounds and interesting talents. This episode is dedicated to all artists and artisans. With great respect, the first artist I host on this show is none other than Tr3skiii. Long story short he's my cousin and I enjoy his music. Unlike many, I did not have to force myself to enjoy his work. His verses are full of metaphors and relatable situations. We both come from cities so I can reciprocate the things he speaks about. Pay close attention to the verses we speak on in this episode! More importantly, stay till the end to hear us speak on his greatest music released so far!

    Skull Stretching Conversation about Neuroplasticity

Nathaniel Renegar is a scholar with a deep understanding of science and mathematics.  This episode is extremely educational and thought-provoking! You might want to relax your mind as we speak considering this is my longest recorded session so far. I learn a lot every time I speak with Renegar, I am beyond honored to have hosted him on my show! Amazing work! Between his research and studies, I am proud to be within his reach.  He has been a supporter since the beginning of my show. Between feedback, recommendations, and listening. Nathaniel Renegar has been vital to my work in this podcast. All the more reason I had to host him.   Enjoy :-]

    A Curious Caml's Birthday

After one year of podcasting, I share my love and joy for creating content in this episode. Starting this podcast has opened many doors for me. I have been prompted access to select circles that will further my professional life. I guess this is what the old heads call "the fruits of your labor." Anyhow, in this episode, I explain why it is important to nourish your hobbies. Equally important, you must maintain the faith you have in yourself. There will be naysayers and doubters. So long as you believe in yourself, you love what you do, and you solve other people's problems the fruits of your labor will return to you!One year of podcasting and I have to say I love my listeners. You guys give me constant feedback and information. Truly this podcast is nothing without your support. I have something special for you guys coming soon. I'll do my best to deliver a project worthy of your interest Sincerely, The Caml

Being the Life of the Party

I host my good friend Breezy on this episode of the Curious Caml Podcast.  Breezy and I share our experiences of revelry and partying to impart good practices to those who aren't too familiar with the pressures of going out. All in all, this episode is full of great dialogue. Our conversation was meant to be more laid back in comparison to my other interviews. Most important, it is the summertime and apparently, we acting bad. This does not mean we do not cannot be smart as well. This episode is for those finding their way in and out of the function.***I don't own any rights to music played in the background

    FlexTape Chronicles: Clothing Lines

This poem is reflecting on a time where I had once witnessed an unspeakable action. It has stuck with me since considering I have never spoke about it. The memory rest in the back of my mind with my dreams, goals, and ambitions. This determination is not new. My will to live is part of the proof.

The Hair Journey and its Value to those Committed

I am extremely proud to have hosted my good sister Donna in this episode. Donna or @ ANaturalHairStorey is an entrepreneur with an extensive portfolio and experience.  Her main mission is serving woman as an advocate, selling waist beads, maintaining a Non-Profit Organization and uplifting individuals in her community. In this episode, Donna and I delve into the many aspects that revolve around the natural hair journey. Donna herself stated that her hair journey was the beginning of a path towards enlightenment, truth, self-love, appreciation, and discovery. Donna and I relate our experiences pertaining to hair and connected them to culture, customs, and practices of melanated people. In this episode our conversation covers a range of topics with regards to hair, waist beads, self-worth, identity and culture. It was an honor to host @ANaturalHairStorey on my show. I am sure to invite her again in the future. Interviewing Donna delivered a remarkable perspective on hair and spirituality. Again, I am extremely proud to host this astounding woman on my show!*** I do not own the rights to any music played in the back

    FlexTape Chronicles: Love over Licks

This is the first poem I ever performed at an open mic.  I use poetry to express myself in ways that would be hard in regular conversation.  This poem exemplifies my internal challenges while dating. Somebody told me I can't have my cake and eat it too. Well....... I be nibbling and I'm not ashamed to admit it. This poem has helped me to address my messy ways prompted me to take steps into becoming a better man. All and all, I'm uploading this poem because I like it.The little bit of music in the back is the instrumental from Tupac's "I get a round "

Mastering New Skills in a Competitive Field

In this episode I had the pleasure to interview my good friend @BmoreLikeBreazy/JayWick-WifiRich. He is a full-time college student at Bowie University who has experience trading in the Forex market. Josh is an example of someone who works without recognition. This is partially what it means to be a trader. He doesn't post every trade he takes. More often than not, you'll just see the charts he marks up. I was more than happy to interview him and dive into our topic!Major Shoutout to RNS 3 Art studios for providing free pictures to my school's new lacrosse club. Show Update: What's going on for those who wonder what's going

This episode is a brief update detailing the direction my show will be traveling.  I have a few goals in mind and the most important one is to interview aa person of relevance each month! It has become a joy of mine to interview people. Am I nosey? Probably. I like to think of myself to curious  :-)

Being the "Funny Guy" and Developing a Personality Against Social Norms

A powerful beginning to something new! I have finally started hosting guest on the show. My first guest ever is none-other than the illustrious @Zaebinotv. In this interview Isaiah I have an open-minded conversation about developing personality, being genuine, and even authentic to our intrinsic nature.  It was a lovely session, and I am proud to introduce to the beginning of an epic! Be prepared to tune in! This work is a hallmark of affluence for all listeners that choose to indulge.I would like to sincerely thank Isaiah for being transparent and patient with me while we were speaking. I made a mistake in the beginning, and he took the time to educate me. This is what I loved to experience in unapologetic black conversations. Its better heard than explained.                                                                                       :-]

    FlexTape Chronicles: Soaked Concrete

The FlexTape Chronicles will be a series of poems created and uploaded by the host Jamal W. Childs Jr. Poetry speaks for itself. Soaked Concrete is sure to deliver imagery of the chaotic lifestyles one would experience growing up in city ghettos. P.S. Awkward silences for the first 5 seconds that I forgot to edit out >.<                                                                      Enjoy :-)

    "Real Niggas" and AAVE

In this episode of problematic unapologetic gibberish, I elaborate on the African American Vernacular English dialect used by many Brown Skinneded people in America. My commentary delves into how we use our own language and culture in regressive fashion.  AAVE has become extremely popular due to social media and has a plethora of individuals from different ethnicities using the dialect. With advances in technology and media, it is important for black people to understand how we represent ourselves. Not for the public, but for our own well-being. Even more important, we as black people need to do a better job of supporting each other despite personal situations. When we recognize someone of our own that is a little different, we are too quick to chastise them. This is ugly, love our brothers and sisters for who they are. AAVE is used differently by all black people of this nation. Not one person should have to prove their "blackness" when we are all obviously just a bunch of,,,,,    :^}A video that further explains AAVE: https://youtu.be/dnOLKqhx_CoLISTENERS DISCRETION: I say "N***a" lot.  Put on your bigboy/girl pants

Mistakes are Just an Opportunity to Get another Chance

In this delightful episode of rambling, I share my plans with this show moving forward. The topic is centered around acknowledging toxic behavior amongst cohorts, affirming self-success, levels of advice, and even having a solution-based mindset. Success comes with suffering. My mentor once said that you can't get anything substantial in life without putting in a degree of work. Along this path of victory an individual is sure to face some obstacles. Unfortunately, the people closest too us can drag us down. Recognize the snake in the grass before it's too late. You'll save yourself some recovery. It is important to identify the lurkers hiding in the shadows of prospective success. Better to uproot the weed than allow it to linger. Also, this work is unedited. I don't use a script and I wanted this episode to feel authentic.  I am not perfect, nor will I ever make it seem like I am with regards to this work.Shoutout to Black for giving me laughter and wisdom.Music in the background: YouTube. In this episode of The Curious Caml Podcast I am extremely excited to break in my new laptop! The sound quality and storage space on this device is off the charts.  Listeners of this episode will be carried through mental journey to get a glimpse at defines true passion. Love of one's own commitment is a joy beyond verbal expression. It is something that you just feel.  It is a belief of mine that if an individual can discern between their wants and needs then they can find themselves in a place where they are surrounded by bliss. Anime Has Purpose

This episode was produced by organized ramblings about how some of my favorite Anime's to watch have purpose. The topic truly explains itself. Anime like many other entertaining media serves subliminal messages to the viewer. Some of the most popular anime's hold high positions caused by the virtue a show can invoke. I spoke on a few of my favorite shows to create a lighthearted episode worth uploading. Psychotic Symptoms Produced by the Block

This episode of "The Curious Caml" leads a deep dive into the roots of what provokes the prevalence of psychotic symptoms in children raised in urban communities. This is a topic I've wanted to speak on ever since I read the study conducted by Newbury and others (2016.) I planned on uploading this recording in October since that is the month dedicated to mental health and depression awareness. Sadly, my laptop ran out of disk space and it has given out in the middle of recording sessions. I'm just grateful that I got the content that I am presenting now. My laptop fell out one last time around the 17minute mark so I apologize for the change in sound quality and static. Finally, this episode ended abruptly to save space. My laptop is really in shambles  :'^[References:Jacobsen, K. H. (2019). Introduction to global health. Jones & Bartlett Learning. Newbury, J., Arseneault, L., Caspi, A., Moffitt, T. E., Odgers, C. Pimps and Hustlers

For my fifth episode of "The Curious Caml" I take a more casual dive into the mind-scape of pimps and hustlers. I'm very big on calling things what they are. In fact I like using my words so much that I picked up a flow. Keep in mind I am not speaking on specific characters or the archetype. My speech is more-so connected to how the promoted actions of "hustling" and "pimping" are survival based deed from the roots. We can never grow as individuals if we are not flourishing  into our own authentic nature.  *Disclaimer* there has been a faint static in my recording. I've been working to find the cause. In doing so I've discovered a few ways to accommodate the noise :-)Enjoy!!

    Enjoy a Change of Scenery

This episode was a delight to record! Today I speak on the importance behind the change of scenery. We should treat ourselves to these exuberant adventures. Getting outside of our boxes gives us potential to see life through a new lens. A lens that will forever help us to envision gratitude and joy for the little things in life!

How to Spot a Fake Guru

In this episode I speak on a topic about Fake Gurus. Mostly because I do not want to be seen as a Guru at all. This podcast is 100% for fun. Still, this topic concerns me enough to speak on it. Many  people get tricked out of their spot simply cause they do not know what they want. I implore any listener to take time to practice their discernment when encountered by someone who just seems to have the answer to all their problems. With the catch that they would have to pay severely. Also please excuse any static and murmurs. I am still learning how to work my editing system as well as my technology :'). Enjoy!!!

    Social Media Facades

In this episode I speak on how social media can create an existence of dread. My point was to simply explain to listeners to fan out of such loop. There is so much more to life than intangible likes and repost. Take a second to smell all your flowers and name them while you're at it!

    Introducing The Caml

In my first episode I introduce myself as well as the goals of this podcast. Managing "The Curious Caml" will be a fun hobby for me. I believe that a podcast is just what I need to express myself in way that are limited by many. This brief introduction will give listeners an idea of who I am so that they may understand me the person that I am.
