Artist Jonna Kina’s exhibition SOMNIVM is now open at Beaconsfield Gallery in London. In her work Kina reflects the conflicting relationship of nature and culture by exploring and using Italian Carrara marble.

    2. More than the Moomins - Tove Jansson's Work and Life

    Tove Jansson is best known as creator of the Moomins which has been translated into more than 50 languages. This panel discussion recorded at The Lakes International Comic Art Festival explores the phenomenon of the Moomins as well as revealing much more about this extraordinary woman and the huge legacy she has left across the world. The panel is featured by Sophia Jansson (Tove Jansson’s niece and Artistic Director of Oy Moomins Characters Ltd), Tuula Karjalainen (author of ‘Tove Jansson: Work and Love’), Jonathan Edwards (joint-creator with Felt Mistress of ‘Archipelagogo’ a installation commissioned for LICAF 2017). It is hosted by comics expert Paul Gravett. More than the Moomins – The Life & Work of Tove Jansson is sponsored by the Finnish Institute and Moomin Characters LTD.

    1. Tom of Finland's influence on fashion

    The Finnish Institute in London is proud to presents a discussion about the legendary illustrator and artist Tom of Finland's influence on fashion, not only in the leather community, but also putting it in a wider frame by looking at sexual liberation and the impact of popular erotic imagery on fashion in general. Discussants Roy Inc and Shaun Cole, moderated by Pauliina Ståhlberg. The discussion was recorded on Thursday 6 July at the Prince Charles Cinema in Soho at an event celebrating Tom of Finland's art and influence. In collaboration with Pride in London.
